3 tips for Therapy practices in Covid
covid best practices
Maintain your business addresses
This is the most overlooked reason to keep a rental relationship, however small. At the minimum plan on at least a two month overlap to ensure that all address changes have the time to take effect.
Address changes are critical to a Therapists business in a myriad of ways. Here are perhaps the worst two consequences of a change to your home:
Insurance and Zoom
You will still need a practice address for your Malpractice Insurance and patient’s Health Insurance- a home address may not be allowed by your policy. Also some policies that accomodate tele-health require you to obtain a Tele-health certification
insurance reimbursements
99% of therapists who move from a physical office to tele-health lose at least 1 piece of mail. Your reimbursements probably are not “missing”, most likely they are at your old office and with some landlords possibly in a landfill. HIPPA violations are much more likely to occur when you have patient data floating around your old office. It can take months for address changes to take effect.
2. social media lures patients
Create content in areas of interest for your potential patients
Post quotes, pictures and repost inspiring media from profiles and hashtags that resonate with your potential patients and will show in a “soft” way that you are both involved and aware of issues that are central to their lives
3. Become a hub
So many therapists are in the silo’s of their private practices during the pandemic. This is all the more true with the decreased interactions for clinicians being away from their usual office routines.
Instead of waiting for change be the change - create a community
Text professional contacts “to catch up”
Introduce awesome people you know in the field to other folks you adore
Make use of zoom for networking

The 3 Best Ways To Raise Therapy Fees
The 3 Best Ways to Raise Therapy Fees
# 1 Choose A Great Office Location
The walk to your office matters. The first thing your client will interact with during their session is your office's neighborhood and the ease of their commute.Proximity to colleagues for referral can make a huge difference. Access to high income clients day and night makes your rented office time work for you. The Neighborhood can also impact your mood daily. Are food options close by, does the after work mood suit you? Will you be happy for the life of your lease? If you choose the right location your focus is kept to deepening your work with your clients rather than trying to find them.
# 2 Advertise that you take "Out Of Network Coverage"
The most common pitfall of insurance handling by mental health clinicians is that you do not say you take any form of insurance. In most cases this is not really true and the mere inclusion of this can increase your inquiries 5 fold. Every therapist can take insurance even if they are not on any panels. How? You put that you take "out of network" coverage on your website, social medial and psychology profiles. If you have chosen the right neighborhood access to out of network clients is easy.

# 3 Make a Great First Impression on your Client
Your offices waiting room. The building, its lobby, the doorman, the speed of the elevators, the temperature, your Wi-Fi, having something to drink, the smells and sights of your waiting room, the furniture and the lighting play a vital role in how your session will go or not go. They can justify a fee as much as degrees and certificates can. The environment speaks in an unspoken and direct way to your client. The suite and your office shows what you value and what they can expect. If you have chosen the right office deeper sessions and a full schedule is a matter of course.

Top 5 Things Every Therapy Office Should Have
These 5 things are essential for any clinician to look for in an Office they rent
As a Therapist your office speaks to your client about you- what message do you want yours to send?
#1: Multi-year Full-time lease options
For the established clinician, Full-time multi year leases help your practice grow.
Growth depends on stability. Every time a practice moves locations, even within a city, 25-40% of the clients will leave due to increased inconvenience. This is the hidden opportunity cost of a change. A multiple year lease gives the therapist more than relevant business cards but a intimate and safe home for their practice to grow. Referrals and relationships can be increased with keeping to one location.
Serene Offices offers Multi-year options across all of its locations.
#2: Flexible Part-time Options
For the mentee and the Therapist new to private practice, Does your office provide easy part-time options?
Having the part-time rental options of Mornings, Evenings, Days & Hourly make establishing a stable block schedule of sessions possible. In most suites volume discounts or block time rentals mean less rent per billable hour so your suite should be one where as you grow you also increase your profits. Being able to shift into new days and times with ease and eventually aim for full-time is the lifeblood of a new private practice.
Serene Offices offers flexible part-time options across all of its locations
#3: Premier Interior Design
Do you like your furniture? Do you have a desk? Spaces that have real art, full sized furniture and beautiful desks make an unspoken impression of professionalism, class and organization. Suites that feature these pieces do not have to be exceptionally expensive- they may just be hard to find. The office itself becomes its own part of the therapy session and your life. It has a tacit utility that becomes more and more important to your practice over time.
Serene Offices offers unique and stunning decor and furnishings across all of its locations
#4 A Warm, Inviting and Intimate Feel
Is your office corporate? How does your office suite make you feel in session?
Therapy suites are ideally unique and designed with soft touches. Corporate rooms and therapy mills miss the Feng Shui of therapy. The features that will separate office suites apart are comfy and solid chairs. Light storage for organization. Nice couches with cool pillows. A throw blanket. Alternate lighting options. Real rugs. Homey and inviting and not to a planned cookie cutter layout.
Serene Offices offices are designed for intimate and safe sessions where fostering a  deep therapy session is put above all else
#5: Beautiful Waiting Rooms
Does your suite make a great first impression? How would it affect a client when they walk in?
The session begins from the walk up to the building, the doorman's hello, the highspeed elevators and the fast wifi in the waiting room. The experienced clinician puts a priority on cocooning their client in a calm luxurious environment as soon as they come into the suite.
