at the end of the day, it just comes down to the fact that buck and eddie have not been portrayed as "just friends" in a long long time on this show.
like. could you imagine hen surprising chim and apologizing to him for a fight they had, by bringing denny over? could you see athena and hen fight the way the fight between buck and eddie was shown? do you think that if maddie were to move to another state, linda would ask her when or how she would tell josh? exactly.

Timeless Episode 1
I started rewatching Timeless for the first time since I watched it live as it was airing almost a decade ago.
First of all I’m just smiling seeing all these characters i love being introduced. Second I’m realizing how many specifics of the pilot episode I’ve forgotten so it’s really nice to watch with mostly a fresh perspective, I’m just excited to experience this show again.
The notebook is a great idea and I’m going to enjoy watching Flynn translate his knowledge from the notebook to his relationships with the real ‘present’ people.
Also realizing that both Susanna Thompson and Annie Wersching portrayed the Borg Queen in various Star Trek and I love Star Trek and Timeless so that is fun.
I really appreciate how they immediately address and understand that Rufus’s race will make his experience in the past different than Lucy and Wyatts’ and cause difficulties for him; also that they show it and continue to throughout the show.
One thing I like is when Wyatt talks to the bartender he uses a modern greeting and the bartender doesn’t get it then Lucy uses the period appropriate greeting to show her knowledge of not just the facts of the past but also the cultural norms and customs.
When the team is talking to the people at the bar and they show a picture of Flynn they ask why he is wearing pajamas because coveralls/jumpsuits weren’t widespread until during/after WW2 and people dressed more formally on a daily basis. Just a nice and funny way to show the difference between the period and the present.
As a LucyxWyatt shipper it’s so nice to see the connection and interest in each other they have already. Wyatt eyeing Lucy in the jail cell! 😉
Also where do the men helping Flynn come from and where do they go? It seems like they all die in this episode and then he’s alone? Also I did not remember them so clearly they don’t really matter and must have just been in the pilot episode to help him get the mothership and be there to die to show the time team that this mission is not going to go like they might have hoped and then they Flynn is alone until he is captured.
Flynn and Lucy’s chat I love the mystery and the first mention of Rittenhouse!
The first and biggest timeline change! Lucy’s going to have to grasp with what she learns from this for a while. Also makes me realize that Amy only appears in this episode. For how important a character she is to Lucy that’s something, but it is her absence that drives Lucy forward and that makes sense.

I got my friend to watch the first 6 episodes of SNW and she's decided that Pike and Una are married and Spock and La'an are their children and when she realized Spock lost a sister and La'an a brother she said "See! Free sibling!" And her response to Spock Amok was "you mean to tell me they spent all of this episode making Spock and T'Pring the literal cutest while Chapel and Ortegas end the episode on what's basically a date and Chapel and Spock somehow end up together later? Why?" She also finds M'Benga's daughter's storyline disturbing and will fight someone to protect "the cadet girl". Finally and this nearly made me choke but she said Sam Kirk and Spock's actors look more like brothers than Sam and Jim (I showed her the musical episode out of context because she asked about the musical episode first) and I had to tell her the characters would hate that as Sam is kind of MIA in most of the episodes and his and Spock's beef isn't well established yet.

If I had a nickel for every show where there is a extremely pretty lady that's been made tough by the hard life she's had, serving in an organization that isn't good all the time but isn't bad, while carrying the trauma of something she can't talk about, and she serves as the right hand lady of her male best friend that is the top leader of their work place who is goofy, likes to cook, makes dad jokes, and has just absolute dad energy, and is going to die and they know it, and they're both (non cannon, except to me) bisexual and they are just as blorbo together if they are life long best friends or married, and they both mentor / parent a witty, dark haired female lead that has trauma from both her traumatic childhood and the fact she is descended from someone who has weird genetics that gave them power but was also a murderer that hurt people, so she fears she is a monster until meeting someone almost like her who explains that her genetic mutation isnt morally bad and she isnt genetically predisposed to being a monster and they all work together and go on missions sometimes out in space but they are such a family it kills me
I'd have two nickels which like. I love.
But like. Melinda may, Philip Coulson and Daisy Johnson are just. So Una Chin Riley, Christopher Pike, and La'an Noonien Singh. The venn diagram is a circle. I am going insane over this

”No-Win Scenario” is easily the best episode of Picard S3, and it’s entered my all-time Star Trek Top Five based largely on Liam Shaw’s arc and the fantastic interplay between Shaw and Seven of Nine. What they accomplish together and apart during this episode is, of course, wonderful, but I’m more intrigued by what their actions say about their working relationship before Picard and Riker came aboard.
Shaw (rightly) starts the episode absolutely furious at Seven and unwilling to work with her. But once he realizes that a changeling was on board before their detour to the Ryton system, his entire demeanor towards Seven changes. He offers helpful information and mentorship. They joke around with each other. She calls him a dick to his face, it’s not taken as an insult, and Shaw doesn’t even flinch. He requests her presence in nacelle control, and it’s clearly not the first time they’ve fixed the Titan together based on how much Shaw trusts Seven’s help and how well she anticipates his needs. And by working together, they manage to hotwire the ship and simultaneously trap the changeling in the span of a few minutes, using a plan they came up with on the fly based almost entirely on “are you thinking what I’m thinking?“
So yes, there was animosity. Yes, they probably got off on the wrong foot. But there is absolutely no way that these two people did not previously spend considerable time fixing things together, finishing each others’ sentences, getting each other out of scrapes, and trusting each other when it counts. (And the performance review in the season finale confirms this read.)
The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment GIF’d above happens at the very end of “No-Win Scenario,” during Picard’s voiceover about his found family. Seven and Shaw have cheated death against all odds, their crew members are laughing and embracing, and they are face-to-face with the space babies, and yet they choose to look at each other like they’re sharing a private joke. It’s the perfect confirmation of everything the episode has led us to suspect about the Shaw/Seven pre-Picard relationship.
Due to the strength of this episode and the actors’ chemistry, I honestly want a new series about the 1-1.5 years that Seven and Shaw spent as a command team before Picard showed up to ruin things more than I want Star Trek Legacy.

Let's hear it for these two:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two women intended by a couple of creepy producers to be nothing more than a target for the male gaze, and who instead managed to work through all the skimpy outfits and situations meant to get them naked to give nuanced and engaging performances that made their characters a lasting part of Star Trek. I do hope that as Jeri Ryan's Seven has had her renaissance, Jolene Blalock's T'Pol might get a similar return.
Even if not, thank you Jeri and Jolene for bringing your acting talents to bear against Berman sexism.

I swear I’ve discovered ships more often years after new canon than as it was airing. I have ships I love and check on frequently from things that ended before I was born ☺️ I love coming into an established fandom with a backlog for me to discover.
Kids these days are all "wow I can't believe I still like this ship 3 months after the canon ended!" bestie I have ships that started when I was still using dial-up internet

Y'all I just came up with a devasting BSG Kara Thrace centered fic idea.
MAJOR BSG SPOILERS BELOW!!!
***
During her accident/death in her Viper she suffers a major head injury and so when she returns to Galactica a few months later she has retrograde amnesia and doesn't remember hardly anyone except for a select few (or no one at all, I haven't decided yet). She remembers basic functions ofc and all that and how to pilot a Viper, etc. but beyond those things she only remembers that she isn't a Cylon, and that she somehow knows the way to Earth.
She doesn't remember Sam at all so she doesn't know he's her husband, etc. And while she can't remember most people her heart remembers and she's confused because Sam is trying to tell her that he's her husband but she knows/feels Lee is more important to her and that she has stronger feelings for him. Lee tries to tell her that's just because they've known each other for longer and while that is definitely partially the case, it's also because he can't deal with Kara finally voicing her feelings and being confused about why she and Lee aren't together (since it had been her fault/choice). It also doesn't help that when she first returns she initially mistakes Lee as her husband.
And at some point she asks Lee why she didn't chose him and he bluntly tells her that he still wonders the same thing, causing her to feel bad. But he doesn't let her, since it's in the past and she doesn't remember it anymore.
And as much as Lee wants to he tries not to do anything with Kara since he is still technically with/married to Dee. And for that reason Kara forces herself to try and be happy with/remember her feelings for Sam, but she doesn't until a little bit before he gets shot sending him into that coma. But of course her feelings for Lee aren't gone either and when she comes to terms with the fact that Sam probably won't make it, her feelings for Lee come back in full force, especially as she starts relying on him as her only comfort source.
***
I saw an Instagram reel the other day that had an amnesia prompt/story and it inspired me to look up some prompts and I immediately was like wait ooh what if Kara came back from her death with none of her recent memories/no memories since the Cylons attacked the Colonies.
As y'all know I love all things angsty and depressing so the idea excited me, especially since this fic could potentially be as long as my fic The Journey To Life since they both follow the same timeline of the end of Season 3 all the way to the end.
Would I finish it is the question since again I suck at finishing long works but I've done it before so I can do it again potentially lol. But what are y'all's thoughts on this? Do you like this idea or nah? Would you be interested in reading something like this? Let me know! I'd love to hear y'all's thoughts, feedback and ideas!
