Cheryl never knew what it felt like to have an actual home until Toni waltzed into her life and made her feel at home. She realized that Thorn hill now was more of a home to her, but it was only because of the fuchsia haired girl who had her heart.
She was thankful that Cheryl was growing into herself as well as growing into their relationship. It was nothing but a beautiful sight to the serpent. She kicked up the speed of the motorcycle as she rounded the corner to Thornhill. “Home sweet home.”

It was amazing how effortlessly Toni had shifted into the position of someone Betty could depend on. Things had certainly been confusing and strange at first, but the Serpent went out of her way to be supportive of the blonde and that was certainly more than she could claim for her own blood. Giving her hand a too tight for comfort squeeze, her head slowly nodded. “Yeah… But it’s more than that, Toni… They are being pushed into by some ludicrous game and I have no idea how to just make it all stop.”
There was once a time in her life when Toni would have done anything to push Betty away, out of Serpent business and to have her nose removed from snooping around. But now, now she needed Betty to help, more the truth was that Toni wanted to help the blonde. “Then we need to learn about this game... but I’m sure you already knew that.” There was nothing Toni said that wouldn’t have already crossed the other girls mind. “Maybe find out the origins of this game. Surely this isn’t the first time it’s been played.”

She liked being called her Cheryl, it made her heart happy and it made her feel like for once she belonged. She had been so alone after losing JJ that she never thought she’d find someone who accepted her as much as he once did. Now she had and that person was her girlfriend.
Kicking the side of her bike, she hooked Cheryl’s arms around her waist, happy to finally have someone she trusted with her whole heart on the back of her bike. The engine roared as the two set off to the mansion that Cheryl called home. “Time to go home.”

❝ thank you. ❞ she says as a sigh of RELIEF falls from her lips. truthfully, she was GRATEFUL that the other allowed her inside; the most she’d received from other people were BIZARRE comments and snide glances. of course, she MILDLY expected this behaviour since she was an outsider to what seemed like a very close-knit town, but that didn’t make the ACTIONS of the others feel any less painful.
she heads towards the bar, a small, GRACIOUS smile offered to the other as she settles herself down onto one of the stools and rests her fingers onto the bar-top. this place was far from the FANCY places she used to visit with b, but she couldn’t care less. in a way, it reminded her of dan; he used to bring her to places like these —— places far FROM of the upper east side, which were full of GENUINE character. she wonders what he’d think of this one & how he’d write about it, but none of that mattered right now. she was here to MOVE ON from her life in new york.
❝ my mom sent me here, ❞ she tells them with a SHRUG of her shoulders, an almost apologetic look in her eye as she TRIES to focus on remaining positive. ❝ i’m staying with one of her friends on the northside. i’ve been exploring this town since i got here yesterday morning —— trying to find my way around, and now here i am.❞ she says, PAUSING before she outstretches a hand towards the other. ❝i’m serena, it’s nice to meet you. ❞
“Whatever.” Toni didn’t care about manners, this was the Whyte Wyrm, it was a place for Serpents, jingle jangle as much as she hated it would get sold in the corners, Ghoolies always trying to take a place that was theirs from the snake skins. Toni, behind the bar, grabbed a towel and started drying martini glasses and champagne flutes as she listened to the blonde. She was far out of her steps. This wasn’t a place for a Manhattan socialite, it was a place where the nitty gritty happened. Where meetings were held for a well-known gang, where Serpent dances were performed by people trying to get into the gang, proving loyalty to the cause. This wasn’t a place for designer clothes and prissy handbags, the sticky tables much preferred thick leather and a cigarette. Toni had been going to Riverdale High long enough to learn some kind of manners. It was time to display what she learned. Flicking the towel over her shoulder, Toni’s hand connected with Serena’s, a small smile curled her lips. “Toni Topaz, a pleasure to meet you.” It was like disgusting cough medicine had gone down her throat with how nice she was, it wasn’t her usual mannerism. “Your mom does know how dangerous this town is right? Who ya stayin’ with? They better know to keep you out of trouble. The Southside is trouble.”

serena was SURPRISED at how defensive everybody seemed to be in this town. sure, she was well used to stuck up BITCHES on the upper east side, but they had nothing on how PROTECTIVE and wary the people in riverdale were on their friends, families, and homes. it made making friends and VISITING places fairly difficult, and serena wasn’t used to being the outsider. ❝ i just want to get a drink. ❞ she tells the other SOFTLY, tiredly as she raises her hands in a SURRENDER motion. ❝ i don’t mean to cause any trouble. just, please, let me come in? ❞
Toni didn’t plan on inviting new townies into Riverdale. She was protective over her town, the ones she loved. And with people dying left, right and centre, she didn’t want to see new people get hurt. Precious little Riverdale was two deaths away from turning into a ghost town for the deranged and manipulated. “I don’t just serve anyone.” Toni tossed the tea towel over her shoulder as she moved behind the bar, elbows resting on the counter top. “Come in, shut the door on your way in. What are you even doing in this town? Just for a drink isn’t an excuse.”

“You know Cher, things in this town are never going to get easier.” She spoke gently, relaxing into the booth at Pop’s, waiting on their ordered meal. “Being a Serpent doesn’t give you a free pass or anything. I just want to be sure that you understand what you’re getting into.” She was protective, not just over Cheryl, but over her Serpents, her family. “I don’t think this town will ever get easy.”

“You had me at bonfire.” Closing the book she had been reading, Half Pint flashed a grin over at her pink-haired friend. “Food is certainly an added bonus though. You know I’m always ready to eat. I think I’m almost as bad as Jug. I can get the stuff for the s’mores. We just need to convince the boys to barbeque. Last time I tried, Jughead accused me of burning the meat.”
“Bonfire’s are a favourite round these parts.” Laughing, Toni made her way to the baskets of food she had picked up from the store, along with metal skewers. “I refuse to cook the meat, especially if I occasionally burn a marshmallow or two.” She smiled softly, tossing the block of chocolate to Half Pint. “Start breaking some pieces up. We’ll get a few started for the boys.”

“Heh.” A weak huff of air forces it’s way past pale lips, her head slightly shaking. “I think both you and Jughead are overestimating my abilities, but I appreciate the vote of confidence.” Betty offers the other a sad attempt at a smile before a frown quickly takes its place. “Something along those lines-” She admits. “But it’s not nearly as entertaining.” Allowing her tongue to dart over her lips, yet another sigh escapes her as their gaze meets. “P-People are dying again…”
“I think we know just exactly what you are capable of, Betty.” Toni trusted the blonde ponytail, the perfect put together Nancy Drew of Riverdale High. She reached over, squeezing the blonde’s hand gently, wanting to try and comfort her the best she could. Toni knew it wasn’t much luck. “Again? How is it this time? Wait... is that what the suicides were about?”

“I can’t exactly do that, Toni-” She breathed, peeking up at the fervent Serpent as she spoke. It was painfully written all over the others features; The concern, confusion. Unfortuninantly, Betty could relate to those emotions a little more than she’d like to. “Because in all honesty, I haven’t the slightest idea of what’s going on…” It’s as if the entire town of Riverdale had been cast in the next great M. Night Shyamalan film, and they were all just waiting for the next insane plot twist.
“I get it, you don’t know what’s really going on as of yet. I know you’ll get to the bottom of it, from the stories Jug told me before I met you. You’re the detective type.” Toni trusted the blonde, wanted to protect her at all costs if need be. The Serpent just wanted answers, wanted to be able to help. “We just turned into a real-life American Horror Story, didn’t we?” Every semester at school, something seemed to be terrorising the kids and parents of Riverdale.

The red head held on tightly to the girl, half for safety but mainly it was an excuse to be close to her. “A motorcycle?” She had never pictured herself riding one solo, but she also didn’t picture herself a serpent til it was approaching. “It has to be red of course.”
Toni smiled as she felt Cheryl’s arms wrap around her waist, the couple ready to take on the bloody world. “Of course. Any decent Serpent needs two wheels. Yes, your Impala is a stunner, but we do prefer our bikes.” Laughing softly, she nodded, revving the engine to set sail to their abode. “Anything for my Cheryl.”

Hope backed up and glared at Tony a little. She was mostly nice, but backed into a corner, she was just like her father. Or her attitude was just like her father’s. “I wasn’t saying that I did know everything” she said defensively now as she pushed back some of her hair away from her eyes. What this girl’s problem was, she didn’t know, but it was no excuse. “I’ve just heard some things about Riverdale. That’s all!”

Toni wasn’t in the mood to watch some poor innocent newbie get her back marked with satanic symbols or to be shot by a man in a black hood. She’d rather the town forced strangers out so only the good would eventually remain in Riverdale. “Then take whatever you’ve heard back to your darling hometown and stay there. This isn’t the place newcomers want to settle down. I'm just trying to keep you safe.”

"I feel like we should just be on the road again. Get out of this godforsaken town, there is always death here, and all I want to do is live.” Toni sighed, relaxing into the couch as she eyed the ruby red vixen, clad in perfect attire. “And learn how you have such impeccable taste in fashion.”

"You need to tell us what is going on.” Toni snapped, she was over being frightened, she wanted to fight. “First Archie is locked up, Cheryl is shooting Ghoulie’s, you and Jughead are in the woods hunting god knows what.”

"You take one more step and it’s going to be a nightmare, blondie.” Toni crossed her arms over her chest, not caring what the girl thought of her. Riverdale was getting more dangerous every day, one week it was Jingle Jangle, the next it was a murderous black mask and Gargoyle Kings. “What are you doing here? This isn’t a place for newbies.”
