“I’d love to have a day off from field hockey and homework” the brunette said staring at her books that she had laid out on the table at the library. Spencer was taking AP classes so she had tons of work to do. She looked at the person at the other end of the table, “Needed a quite place too?”
“It’s Riverwood. Is there a such thing as a quiet place?” Toni pointed out with a shrug. “But you’re right and this is the closest thing I could find. Apparently high school assignments are more important than anything else in this town.”

he decided to come to the event , not on his own – he was personally invited to it. honestly he made a mental note that things were going to be significantly different. tony could be civil for the sake of anything , but that didn’t mean his mind changed. sweet pea made his point , and tony was going to stick it to the very end. as far as he was concerned they were dead to each other. and that was the reality of it all. sitting at his own table a bit further from everyone else , his eyes flicked over to see toni in his vicinity – heading in his direction. “ i’m not here to start a fight . “ he stated , not that starting fights was his niche. despite recent happenings , tony normally keeps to himself unless there’s a reason for him to act out. even if his secret’s out , he had every reason to blow caution to the wind , but he wasn’t sorry.
When she saw Tony in the bar, of course she had to go see him. Not for a big hug or tearful ‘I’ve missed you’. This was more about shooing him away before he ruined Sweet Pea’s night. He’d been ready to pack up and leave before. Toni worries something like tonight becoming a huge disaster could push him back in that direction. Lately it seemed Tony brought disaster wherever he went. Even if it wasn’t always intentional. “Then why are you here?” Toni had no problem making her stance on the boy known. He hurt one of her best friends. Though the truth could come out about FP being dirty and lying about the way things went down when he left the Serpents, there was no changing the way he hurt Sweet Pea. “If you want to keep peace, you should leave.”

She couldn’t explain why her heart doubled in its beat whenever Toni was near. It was a rare reaction for her, to feel nervous yet energetic at the same time. She had dressed to impressed, but as usual, she couldn’t help but take in Toni’s attire with a glint in her eye. It was dangerous territory for sure, allowing such thoughts into her head. She still wasn’t overly sure on her own feelings and thoughts, having fought down on it for so long out of fear of her parents. “The prettiest in the room though for sure.” she praised, sincere in her words.
Cheryl did have reservations about attending to begin with, but once she had picked out her outfit and geared herself up, she knew she would only get through it by being her usual confident, arrogant self. “Who am I to turn down a party, no matter what side of town it’s on?” she questioned with a grin. “I’m just glad it wasn’t my name put on the flyer saying not welcome.”
Toni would blame the flush of her cheeks on the alcohol and not the praise from the other girl. While she could try write off the way her face matched the pink hue of her hair, she couldn’t hide the bright smile on her glossed lips. “That might have been true until you came in. Cher, you look... wow.” Perhaps a bit biased, but Toni would insist she wasn't even being dramatic. When they first met, she couldn’t deny the fact Cheryl was hot. You can hate someone and still think they’re hot. However, getting to know the Cheryl beneath the HBIC act, she got more and more beautiful as they got closer.
“That was the first draft but we had to really think about it. Lesser of two evils.” Was Toni’s usual sarcasm the best flirting tactic? Not even close. For some strange reason, she really wanted Cheryl to like her. “Full disclosure...” Toni started, drawing out the words as she stepped closer. “I would have kicked someone’s ass if they said you weren’t welcome tonight.”

Aurora was having a damn good time tonight. She was in the company of good friends, good drinks, and just an overall good atmosphere. At this point, she had a few drinks within her system and was feeling a boost of energy overcome her. She made her way to the dance floor, one hand holding her current drink, the other pointing to a familiar face - her beloved serpent Toni Topaz. “Toni! My girl. Let’s dance, I love this song!” she told her, reaching for her hands, wanting to pull her in and move to the beat of the song that was currently blasting throughout the room.
( closed starter for @serpenttopaz )
Toni had high hopes for how tonight was going to play out. With how much work went into the reopening, it was hard not to. It had been a special place to those that resided on the this side of town. This wasn’t just about a bar opening back up. It was reclaiming an important part of the Southside’s livelihood. Even with high standards, Toni deemed the night perfect. Just getting better with every moment. “Rora! Fairy Godmother came through tonight.” Followed by a glance up and down to look at the other girl’s outfit. “I love this song so you’re on.” It didn’t hurt she liked spending time with her friend either. Toni grabbed the other girl’s hand, pulling herself in. “Are you having a good night?”

“My moon, my stars, my love of my life….well, my second love, my best girl love…” he crooned, throwing his arm around Toni’s shoulder joyfully. He wasn’t drunk, not by any amount but he was buzzing from the atmosphere and the general feeling of happiness he felt. The night was going off with great success and he’d only had to break up one fight so far. “I signed us up for karaoke as well as with Fangs so I hope you’re not going to chicken out on me.” he added with a smirk.
@serpenttopaz
Normally the an arm being thrown around Toni would be swatted away and met with a glare over her shoulder but luckily Sweet Pea made himself known. Instead, Toni leaned into his touch. “Hey, I was here first. I think it’s only fair I get first place.” Faux pout on Toni’s lips as she looked up at him. “You’re lucky I love you enough to settle on being your moon, starts and best girl love.” The first mention of karaoke was almost shrugged off as a joke coming from Sweet Pea. When it came to the crowded bar, she expected more of a protest. “You signed us up for karaoke?” A pinch me joke would have been thrown in if she didn’t think he would actually do it. “Here I was thinking we were going to spend the entire night trying to convince you. I’m not saying I had a plan with Fangs already sorted out but we are totally prepared if you try to chicken out. We all know it would be you acting too cool.”

It wasn’t a party unless Cheryl was there, she knew, they knew it, everyone knew it. She was rather glad to have a valid reason to visit the Wyrm again, not having been here since that awful night of the football game. But to be here in better circumstances was amazing. It was her chance to see how Toni lived, to experience her life and learn more about her now favorite vixen. Dressed in her signature red and her own leather jacket to match the aesthetic, she walked around the bar like she owned it. A stark colour against all the other blacks and blues and darker hues. She was sipping from her Fireball and checking out the song selection by the karaoke when she heard someone say her name.
Looking up from the book of songs, she tried to see who it was. Eventually, fighting their way through the crowd she saw them and a smirk graced her lips. “Who’d of thought I’d see you here tonight?” she questioned, light brown eyes giving them a look up and down.
Following so much chaos and devastation, it was great to feel like things were working out for once. All the hard work they put into the Wyrm tonight was all paying off. A personal victory, however, was Cheryl Blossom joining them. She didn’t care if the redhead was the only person beyond the Southside to come. If the night went well, Toni would be spending her time ignoring the crowd for her anyways.
Upon spotting the Bombshell, Toni didn’t hesitate to call out to her. They were at the stage where she didn’t really care about the ‘play hard to get’ rules. She wanted to spend as much of the night as she could with the people she wanted to be with. Cheryl happened to nearly top that list. “I never would have guessed it. A pretty girl like me in a place like this?” Toni teased. Usually any variation of pickup lines made her roll her eyes, but she found herself enjoying the exchanges when it came to Cheryl. Part of her still amazed every time Cheryl didn’t snap at her and storm off. “I’m so glad you made it,” she admitted, a softer tone in her voice.

okay, so maybe Brooke was a little worried about walking into the Whyte Wyrm that night with all of the animosity against her. it was no secret that she had brought it on herself, but telling her not to do something was a great way to have her do whatever it was to the fullest. walking in with Jake she could still feel the eyes thrown at her like daggers, automatically reaching up to ensure her hair was in place even if she had checked it before leaving the car. the alcohol was already coursing through her system, their rendezvous in the parking lot leaving her satisfied ( in more ways than one ) that Jake wasn’t about to go look elsewhere. not too bad if she could say so herself, and she would.
it hadn’t taken long, however, for them to get separated, turning one moment to say something to him to realize he was gone in the crowd of people. sighing loudly Brooke headed toward the bar, heels clicking on the floor as she tried not to think about how dirty they would be when the night was over. “a cranberry vodka, if you can figure out how to make it,” she demanded to the bartenders in general, not noticing whether or not they even heard what she said. or, more accurately, were going to oblige.
It was bad enough Brooke Maddox decided to show her face around the Southside. Even after they quite literally spelled out the fact she wasn’t welcome around here tonight. In fact, any night before an apology and mean girl reform like Cheryl had been doing. Brooke decided to make matters worse by coming in an degrading the people that had volunteered to work the bar. “And why the hell would we do that for?”
This party wasn’t for her. It was a celebration of the Southside and the people that supported it. “You know, the bouncers here have had to deal with a lot worse than a high school Queen Bee. If I were you, I’d turn around and walk out while it’s still on your own terms.”

“You can either help or move along, I don’t care which.” her tone was sharp, but heavy with sadness. The trashed remains of the memorial had been removed, although Cheryl had rescued all that she could. All the little charms, mementos, photos and she now stood in front of the new glass cabinet she had bought. The school was taking too long replacing it and this had been her thing. Her mark and her first steps of redemption. She was pinning up a picture of a group of serpents, in it were Peaches, Joaquin, that Fangs kid, Toni, and the angry giant. It had survived the initial attack and it was their deaths that spurred her to do it in the first place.
By now, word had spread of the memorial being trashed. Perhaps sneaking up on the redhead while she was concentrating was a bad idea, but Toni couldn’t find the words to say. What were you supposed to say about something like this? “It’s me, Cher.” Toni’s voice soft as she looked over the new memorial. “What can I do to help?” It was hard to try and heal when people keep cutting open the wound, salt rubbed in at every turn. Toni just wanted to make things right and give her friends the peace they deserved.

Archie: I'm forming a group of sorts... Northside and Southside members. We need to get rid of this person, run them out of town for messing with everyone.
Archie: Would you be interested in joining?

clumsy was the perfect word to describe riley– she tended to be careful and not show that side anymore; but after so much coffee and other supplied help; she tended to be a little dizzy– only buzzing with excitement and wanting to help others. she was doing her duty of taking pictures of the bulldog’s practice as taking a break from her cheerleader practice herself; although dressed up in the uniform itself- she was up on one of the bars, both hands holding the camera and when an unexpected move happened on the field– she got distracted and lost balance; falling flat on the ground. it took her a few seconds to realise the camera flew out of her hands and down somewhere on the field; while she laughed at the pain she felt. ‘ i am fine, i am fine!’ she cheerfully informed whoever was around- although not moving up just yet.
The same way Toni would protect the Serpents fiercely, she stood by the Vixens now that they had taken her in. Riley’s extra jitteriness through cheer practice didn’t go unnoticed. She was still hanging around when the thud of Riley hitting the floor caught her attention. Toni picked her camera off the ground as she made her way to Riley. “You sure you good?” Her hand extended to the other girl as a helpful offering. “I know the school nurse is notoriously bad but you don’t hang around the Southside all your life without learning a few first aid things here and there.”

“I know, I know,” Jaz said before the person next to her could even start, rolling her eyes as she dug around in her jacket pocket for her lighter. “no need to lecture me on saying no to drugs because that approach failed years ago.” shrugging a little she flicked the lighter a few times before it caught, hold it near the joint she had also fished out of her pocket. “shit’s been quiet around here, what can I say? it’s the perfect time to relax and stop thinking for a night.”
“Chill Jaz, it’s just me.” She’d get the lecture from plenty of other people but the idea of relaxing for a night was more appealing to Toni than any possible moral high ground. “Your night sounds like the best thing right now and the only lecture you’d get from me is friends share.”

Cheryl had kept her distance since the funeral. More so, because she didn’t feel like she deserved to be involved with it, nor be around for them to grieve. Her actions had been awful in the past, to all serpents. She always gave Toni a wave in the corridor or was amicable in Vixen training since then and only watched her from afar. Of course, that hadn’t stopped her getting involved slightly. They still didn’t know that she had paid and provided the coffins, anonymously of course because it wasn’t for her or about her. But it had been her own way of doing something to start making up for her actions. She couldn’t deny though, that the pink haired serpent girl had been on her mind everyday. “That’s the secret of Riverwood. Perfect on the outside, rotten to the core on the inside.” she replied in agreement.
She shook her head at Toni’s statement. “Trust me, I live with basket cases. You are not one.” she insisted, kindly. She felt warmth spread through her, at hearing the nickname flow with ease from Toni. No one had called her that before. She liked it. “I’m fine, Toni. Nothing I’m not already used to.” she couldn’t, wouldn’t bring up what was on her mind. It was a whole world of crazy she didn’t think would sit well with her. “Is there any update with Jughead?” she asked, diverting the topic off her once more.
“Could have worked harder to keep it a secret,” Toni played the words off as a joke despite meaning it all. “Make the rotten core less of its main attraction.” There were glimmers of hope through the dim town, but it was easy to get caught up in the dark parts when they seemed to swallow them whole.
Toni couldn’t fight the urge to smile at Cheryl’s kind words even if she wanted to. It was a welcome change to the anger and sadness that had been consuming her lately. “I’m glad you think so.” The Serpent would always be her own toughest critic. “But does that mean I lose my rights to a wicked Green Day karaoke cover?” Although she was sure the words were meant to be a comfort, it was a cause of concern for whatever had Cheryl this angry to be stock standard. “I won’t push.” There was a time for words and Toni could take the hint this wasn’t one of those times. “He’s doing okay. Getting through it all step by step, day by day.” The odds seemed stacked against them for a while, but he pulled through in the end. “I think we’re out of the woods now.

“I swear, the woman is usually nothing but sunshine and rainbows. But, when it isn’t her day to open the bakery, she likes to have the chance to sleep in,” she admitted with a chuckle. Her mom and grandma alternated shifts when it came to the business. Tomorrow was her grandma’s day off and it was well deserved, so the last thing she wanted to do was be super loud in the trailer. “But yes, let’s go to my place. It’s a pretty clear night so we can chill out on my back porch?” she suggested.
“The back porch sounds like a great idea.” It was a nice night and more importantly, it gave them a little bit of space to be able to talk. Something they hadn’t properly done for a while when everything was blowing up in their faces. Toni shrugged the leather jacket back over her shoulders, flicking out the hair trapped underneath. “Lead the way, Rora.”

There was never a shortage of drama or chaos in Riverwood. Lately, however, it felt like the Serpents had been under constant fire. Like there was never a second to breathe for them. Having it rough wasn’t new for those raised on the Southside but they banded together to cope. Toni sent a quick text to make sure he was home and she wouldn’t be interrupting anything before making her way to his place. “It’s Toni,” she called through the door.

At hearing footsteps, she automatically tensed in preparation for confrontation. But when she heard the voice of Toni, it faded to a low simmer and a genuine smile graced her lips. “Take it back a month or so, I’d of fired without thought.” she commented, before lowering the bow. “Ah yes, mother dearest. A constant thorn in my side. The world would be better off without Penelope in it.” she added with a sour tone. There was no love lost between them.
At her question, Cheryl wasn’t entirely sure herself. It wasn’t in her to open up, nor speak publicly about her problems. But she let out a sigh anyway, placing the bow down on the ground before turning to face her properly. “Nothing blowing off steam can’t help with….seems rather unfair right now for me to load off on you. You have enough to deal with. I’m sorry about the baby hobo- uh, sorry, Jughead.” Cheryl might refer to him as such, but it had now become more of banter between them. That didn’t mean Toni would get it or understand it and they had made good progress since the football match and the selfish part of her didn’t want to ruin it.
“I don’t doubt that for a second.” Perhaps that wasn’t something that should impress Toni, but she liked the challenge Cheryl always provided without fail. In fact, she was convinced she gave in and kissed her during the game of spin the bottle only to sink a dagger into her back ( cherry red, of course ) and finally be rid of her. The way her heart had skipped a beat was obviously a result of the close brush with death. “Shitty families seem to be the staple of our dear Riverwood.” Even the perfect Northside had broken homes littered throughout it.
Toni would be lying if she said she didn’t expect the conversation to turn to Jughead. Except Cheryl wasn’t like everyone else. Even with the slip of a cruel nickname, Cheryl seemed more genuine than everyone else that asked purely because they knew she was his friend and wanted to be the person with the freshest gossip. Something she never expected to think about Cheryl Bombshell of all people. “I must seem like a total basket case to you.” Yet she didn’t roll her eyes and continue shooting arrows to ignore Toni when she came. “It’s okay, Cher.” The nickname slipped in without a second thought. “If you need someone, I doubt a distraction would hurt right now. Plus, I already owe you one. Too many favours adding up might go to your head.”
