Thinking about how Kanan's biggest fear is being useless for the Ghost Crew and part of the early conflict in S3 is that Ezra wrongly says he doesn't need him anymore, even though he clearly does.

And Kanan goes through absolute hell to find ways to heal the anxieties and fears he has because deep down he knows Ezra still needs him. Sabine needs him. He can't and won't let them hurt as long as he's there.

So as he dies, I wonder if he was thinking about this. I wonder if the reason why he dutifully accepted his death without other caveats is because he knew Ezra and Sabine didn't exactly need him anymore. They still wanted him with them, of course they did, but he'd taught them everything he could both about life, about their culture.

He died in peace knowing he could trust them to go on without him.

Approximately 50% of marriages end in divorce and only around 8% of trans people detransition (with 62% of detransitioners subsequently transitioning again) so I think we should stop infantilizing trans people and hammering them over and over with “What if you regret this?” comments and start turning that scrutiny towards people who are engaged as they are statistically much more likely to regret their decision and suffer for it.
