How to use your router as an access point
Use your router as an access point, you can, for example, expand or improve your wireless network. With these steps, you can set up a router as an access point at home.

To use a router as an access point, you may not even need to buy a new one. If you still have an older model, it will also be possible to set it up as an access point. It makes sense to set up the access point a bit away from the main router in order to expand the WLAN network. The two routers are connected by a long LAN cable.
Set up router as an access point: Explained step by step
Make sure that the routers are not yet wired together before you start configuring your second router as an access point.
Connect your PC to the router you want to use as an access point via LAN port.
Open the router's user interface in the browser and change the IP address under the "Network Setup" item. If the IP of the main router is 192.168.178.1, select for the access point 198.168.l.l . The first three blocks of numbers must be the same.
Also under "Network Setup" now disable the DHCP service. Your main router will run the DHCP server.
Now connect the two routers via LAN directly or via a distributor.
If a device is now connected to the access point via WLAN, the main router is automatically used.Depending on the model, some settings could be designated differently. For example, set IP Client mode as the operating mode on your FritzBox.

Making WLAN faster: This is how it works
If you want to increase the WLAN speed in your home, you should first choose the right location. The distance to the end devices and the construction of your house play an important role here. In addition, the choice of the right router is crucial for a fast Internet connection.

How to make your WLAN faster
The speed of the WLAN in your home depends on numerous factors. Most of the time, just making a few small changes can improve it. If the tips do not help to create a sufficiently fast WLAN connection for all end devices in the house, a repeater can be useful.
These tricks will help you
Find the right location: There should be as few walls and objects as possible between the router and the end devices. Especially walls with steel beams inhibit or prevent the transmission of WLAN signals. Place the router elevated and try to create an even distance to all end devices.
Perform updates: Outdated drivers often lower the transmission speed. It is best to activate automatic updates on your computer.
Disable power saving mode: Some routers come with an activated mode to save power. This lowers the speed of the WLAN and should be disabled.
The right router: The router offered by your Internet provider is not necessarily the right device for your purposes. Inform yourself online or in specialized stores about the different models and switch if necessary.

Change MAC address under Windows: Here’s how
Until Windows 7, it was not possible to change the Mac address via the system settings. In Windows 7, you therefore needed an additional program to make the changes. In Windows 10, you can find the settings in the Device Manager. The only requirement is that your network adapter supports changing the IP address.

How can you change the MAC address in Windows?
The MAC address can be used to identify network adapters. Each network adapter is assigned a unique number when it is manufactured. This can be retrieved via an operating system, but can also be found on the adapter's housing. It is possible to change the MAC address on most adapters. Since Windows 10, you can find the necessary options for this in the Device Manager. The MAC address can be changed as often as you like. You can have a suitable number generated on the net on various websites. For example, the generator from Miniwebtool is interesting.
How to find the setting
Open the menu and select "Device Manager".
Search for "Network Adapter" in the menu on the left and click on the small arrow next to it.
Right-click on your network card and select "Properties".
Select the "Advanced" tab at the top.
Under "Property", select "MAC Address".
Under "Value", you can enter a new MAC address.
Click "OK" to save the changes.
Reboot the computer.
