The very moment Narcissa had acknowledged his prescense, he felt himself panicking. Why had she caught his eye in the first place? It wasnât that Severus was oppose to the idea of conversation with her, or with anyone for that matter. He had actually never, at least to his recollection, thought of Narcissa in any way other than an acquaintance, or perhaps a distant friend. But, as his mind had been preoccupied with Lily, Lily, Lily, he hadnât had much time for other people.Â
Despite his previous reservations, he felt himself relax slightly at her playfulness, blushing with a hint of a smile. âWell, I wouldnât give it much thought if I were you.âÂ

At the mention of Lily, Severus huffed and turned his head to the side for a moment. âIâm not,â He stated, trying to make it seem like he was thoroughly truthful, but for some reason he just couldnât. Even though his demeanor was slipping, he decided he would rather keep it up, than be entirely truthful. âIâm just worrying about... a test.âÂ

At first, Severusâ instinctual response was to furrow his brow. But he quickly shook his head, feeling he could perhaps tell her shortly what was on his mind. Of course, Sev wasnât one for gossip - or anything like it for that matter. Lately though, heâs been feeling every little thought in his mind beginning to gnaw at him, slowly tearing him down.Â
âItâs just...â He sighed and, again, shook his head. âNothing, itâs nothing.â Well, to him it wasnât plain and simple nothing. But thinking about Lily was tiring, talking about Lily was tiring, seeing Lily having fun - without him - was tiring. The idea of Lily was tiring. âIf youâd like to hear my sob-story, you can. But it isnât really recommended.âÂ
Severus looked away, not wanting to face Amelia. He was sure he would regret his decision, later on.Â

Sighing heavily, Severus shook his head and plastered on a stale smile. âItâs fine,â He said, or perhaps he stated it, as if it was a purely objective fact. âI guess... Hm, my mind is a bit preoccupied is all...â Though in Sevâs mind, he was speaking as clearly as one possibly could, his words only came out as a mumble.Â
Actually, Sev was glad someone had happened upon him, though he could feel a slight tinge of remorse. Maybe he had been a bit too harsh? âActually,â Having a person close, Severus felt he could finally get some things off his chest. âWould you mind, uh-... Having a seat?â Was what Sev finally managed to awkwardly sputtered out.Â

Severus was sat in one of countless hallways of the school. To any old bypasser rushing past, he mightâve seemed quite busy. Perhaps caught up in something. But, in all reality the boy was preoccupied with much simpler matters. The issue at hand was actually that he was starting to feel the bite of his relative loneliness. Yes, it was voluntary, in some sense of the word. But, he couldnât help but feel it wearing at him.Â
The Slytherin common room was filled with people he knew of, not people he directly was friends with. He could hold a short conversation with most of them, but it wasnât what he craved deep down.Â
Severus missed his best friend.
That was the simple conclusion he had come to, though it wasnât really that simple. Of course, he blamed himself, if only a little. But there had been a loss. Like a piece of his heart had been taken, and now there was just a gaping void in his chest.Â
Sev shook his head, he had to stop thinking of Lily! Grumbling silently, he looked around at the passing students, hoping he didnât seem completely out of it. âDamnit...â He muttered under his breath as he hoisted himself up onto his feet.Â
Just as he was about to walk straight back to the common room, he felt another person collide their shoulder into his. âHey! Watch your step, you absolute degenerate!âÂ

Since classes had been over for the day, Severus had been studying. Well, not very thoroughly, but nevertheless, studying. It wasnât that he necessarily enjoyed studying all that much, but he felt it was something he had to do, in order to get a good position after school. A powerful job, or maybe, one that secured him a good future, was at the top of his priorities. Though it wasnât the most important thing one could ever hope for, it was the only thing Sev could see for himself.Â
But, no matter his enthusiasm, or rather lack thereof, for studying, he had been growing a headache. For the better part of an hour Sev couldnât focus at all, groaning as he tried to make his way through heavy textbooks filled with headache-fuel.Â
In an attempt to soothe his headache, he decided he would end his studying, just for today. So, he packed his stuff and looked around, hoping to see someone worth conversing with. Snape was familiar with most of the other Slytherins, though some of them tormented him or only ignored him.Â
However, when Sevâs gaze caught sight of one of the Black sisters, Narcissa, his interest was peaked. Trying to get Narcissaâs attention, he waved at her, half hoping sheâd ignore him, half hoping she wouldnât.Â

To be quite honest, despite his nature of being a dutiful student and whatnot. Severus wasnât exactly the most proficient in Runes. Sure, he wasnât what you would call bad. He was actually decent. But putting that up against his standards, it was subpar, to say the least.Â
Anyway, arriving in the Runes classroom, he quickly let his eyes dart throughout the room, hoping to see his partner already in place. And, he was. Snape was hard to reach, especially emotionally. Yeah, he could hold a conversation going with anyone, as long as he had to. But he usually preferred not to.
As he approached his partner, he tried to tame his gloomy aura. Hoping the dark cloud about him lessened, in hoped that it would make for smooth sailing. However much he didnât like people, he despised it when his general toxicity wrecked his chances for good marks in different subjects. So he tried to be... Well, cooperative, one could put it.Â
So, he stood - or rather, towered ominously over his partner until he looked up. Once he did, he greeted him courtiously. âHello, Alaric.â Lately he hadnât seen his partner in Runes, so having him back was quite nice. Especially since Snape liked routine, If he were someone else, anybody else, really, he mightâve struck up some small-talk. But he decided to avoid it, at least to begin with.Â
Therefore, he simply sat down and brought out his textbooks. âWhere were we when you were last here?â
Runes had always been one of his favorite subjects perhaps because his mind could focus easier, perhaps it was the mystery of it all.. he could get lost in the research.. he had always loved research. Finding it fascinating. He hadnât really gotten a chance to review really catch up since he got released from the infirmary but he was a quick learner. The room was its normal volume students gossiping, reviewing notes.. paper birds diving around the room with notes yet He was blocking it alll out only looking up when he felt someone beside him
