OK, done with most of the quilting, and more importantly, with hiding all of the damn thread ends. What ends? you may ask. Well, I had the glorious idea to quilt like this, because I have these cute animals on the front:

Since I couldn't quilt over those animal rectangles, I had a lot of stops and starts, and all those leave thread ends that have to be brought to the inside of the quilt by hand, from the front AND the back. With five animal rectangles, that's a lot of threads.
I also have a very vivid green border around the patchwork, and I was quilting with white thread, and it kinda didn't feel right to go over the border with it, so I left it out. Which did mean that I had loose ends all around every side as well.

Like I said, a lot of threads. And since it's my first ever quilt, I have no better idea how to get the effect I wanted than doing it like this. If you know a better way, please let me know.
Now I need to decide if I want to quilt the border in green, or just leave it unquilted, and then bind it with the light green fabric I found today. Hopefully, I'll finish it before I travel on Friday to see my just-born nibling, for which all of this is a present.

From the amount of mitered corners I just did, you'd think I did two quilts, or someting.
(spoilers, I did not. I'm just bad at doing them^^)

the insane experience of missing a fictional character . like you can always go back and reread the book , replay the game , rewatch the show or movie , you can always go back & see them , but you can never experience them & their story for the first time again . its absurd to miss them because they'll always be there , but you'll miss when there were still new things for them to say .
for a small time they were real & growing and changing and you hung onto every new word, but now all they can do is repeat the same story forever&ever & they're not real anymore because you know everything they're going to do. & you miss them. its fucked man...
