It's what fic writers use, and also DnD writers when they're preparing a short session for their groups, so it's a more general term than "ficlet" which might have specific fan fiction connotations (but I think ficlet would work fine too, since it's short fiction hehe).

"Drabbles" is technically a word for a work of exactly 100 words, but it's been losing its original meaning more and more and overlapping with one-shots or ficlets.

what are people calling short pieces about their ocs these days?? i think ppl say 'drabbles' but in my friend groups since i was like 15 we've called them 'writes' which i find funny but it's always been like "sending you an oc write" and "did you read those writes i sent?" but i've never seen anyone else ever call them that so i never use it on here bc i feel like no one will know what the hell i'm talking about if i'm like "gonna post some writes!"
