there's this novel I read, I liked it a lot that I bought all the chapters to it on ridi (there's no eng tl) and I want to share it with my small group of friends, so I'm thinking of editing the MTL of it to make it an easier read for them because they abos hate MTL ,but it's a little intimidating and I'm kind of at a loss on how to start, any tips?

(FYI, I can read Hangul and know some basic words and a couple sentences in Korean, if that helps.)

Uh. I'm not sure how to answer this given that we never actually edited MTL, strictly speaking? Like we did use MTL for the bulk of the actual translating, but it wasn't like, "copy-paste it in and then fix pronoun/name errors and the like", it was "check what MTL says the sentence probably means and then rewrite it all by hand so it sounds like something a human person would say".

If I had to answer, I'd say it mostly depends on your friends' tolerance for MTL? With our friend group we could probably just drop the raw, unedited stuff on them and they'd have zero problem. Flamingo-salinity tolerance for incomprehensible text, y'know.

But since you said your friends hate MTL, I think you might just be better following our approach as described above, haha. Your Hangul knowledge should help you identify names and notable grammar markers to fix the most egregious errors, at the very least, but at some point it just bleeds into needing to learn the basics of the language, past just the writing system.

In any case, I wish you luck! Hope your friends enjoy the story :D

Hey, regarding Hwangrim's name, wouldn't the original pinyin for 林 be Lin? So Hwang Lin?

Pinyin for 林 is Lin, yes! But Geunseo didn't give any Hanzi for the Chinese characters' names in the raws, just their Korean readings in Hangul. So all we know is that HL's Chinese name has the Korean reading 황림 i.e. Hwang Rim or Hwang Lim. (Hence the guessing game I had to play with all of their names, haha.)

There are characters with the reading Lim when taken as Hanja, but don't have the reading Lin when taken as Hanzi, so it's entirely possible HL's given name is something other than Lin.

There is way of at least read offline? Constantly I'm off conection with internet and I never used the google docs off so I don't know if that show that if I need.

I think you can save files for offline viewing in the Google Docs app, via the usual top right dropdown menu once you've opened the file? But I'm not sure if that's only for Docs that you're the owner of, or if you could save Docs created by other people. If anyone reading this can weigh in, it'd be much appreciated.

Hey folks, we're getting a few questions about whether people can make EPUB versions of the translations or whether we'll release a version ourselves again, so I'm bumping this post.

Are we allowed to print a hard cover version of your translations if its strictly for personal use?

…I mean, realistically speaking, we can't stop you from copying/downloading our translations and then printing them or making EPUBs or whatever you choose to do. All we ask is that if you do, don't distribute the results—keep them strictly for personal use, and don't post about them online. Our translations are already illegal, as it is, and copying them/printing a physical copy further violates copyright. We strongly discourage posting online about these things anywhere at legal risk to yourself, and if you absolutely must, then leave our name off the project.

A good rule of thumb to follow: How likely is it that whatever you're about to do will be seen sooner or later by someone with connections to the publishers/authors? Pretty much anything online will likely find its way to them eventually.

In any case, I don't know if you intend to do the whole translations, but good luck with the endeavor! 2.5 million is a lot of words for one book!
