I just want y'all to know I check my tumblr in the morning and someone's discussing ecology restoration and someone is posting photos of medieval manuscripts and someone is gushing about a blorbo I've never heard of but it clearly just makes them so happy and someone has tagged me in a quiz and someone is speculating about an aspect of Middle-Earth or Greek mythology that I honestly have never considered and maybe making art about it and everyone is making their little corner of existence better and more loving in some way and I just love y'all so much

Bucky Barnes Whumpy Headcanons- I will die on this hill

He has some sort of neurological disorder caused by all of the electricity that HYDRA exposed him to. Epilepsy, Tourette's, prosopagnosia (face blindness), something. He didn't get away from HYDRA unharmed physically.

On the same note, he probably has TMJ. There's no way that his jaw didn't get messed up from the mind wipes (we've all seen the footage of how hard he's chomping on that mouth guard).

Bucky is on a shit ton of medication for his PTSD, especially at night. He can fall asleep just fine, but his brain has to basically be nuked by antipsychotics every night to minimize his night terrors.

Bucky has trouble with executive functioning. He can follow orders but finds it extremely difficult to act without being commanded...

...so his apartment is super messy at times because he never tidies up. That could also be an act of defiance against HYDRA- now that he has his own place, he can keep his belongings (which he never had) wherever he wants, instead of logging them into storage.

Bucky has an avoidant attachment style. Not because of HYDRA. I think he just has it. A ton of his buddies died in war and he started his new life with absolutely no one. Steve Rogers leaving him behind in Endgame probably just made that attachment style worse.

He's a momma's boy. As the only son in his family, I fully believe that his mother cherished him and gave him special treatment. He took her death hard, even though he wasn't aware when she died. He grieved when he found out the date of her passing.

i'm a writer irl (can't say who because my agent would put me into a blender and press go) and honestly the funniest and most humiliating incident of my life was the time my finished manuscript triggered a plagiarism flag with the publisher for two lines of prose in my literary fiction novel...

.... which was word for word similar to a paragraph in a certain explicit work on FFN starring elrond and his batsman from the hobbit films, aka that one elf that looked like he ate panic attacks for breakfast (i forget his name but it's Figwit II) where the lord of imladris bends said twink over his writing desk and gives him the battering ram treatment.

and if you think i had to sit in front of one if the biggest publishing companies in the world and admit that it was, in fact, me who wrote the fic where the lord of imladris bends said twink over his writing desk and gives him the battering ram treatment in order to avoid being wrongly flagged for plagiarism, you would be absolutely correct.

can we please please please learn to differentiate between things that are good but devalued because of their association with women (caring for children, being compassionate), things that are neutral but seen negatively because of their association with women (the colour pink, having long hair), and things that are bad but associated with women because of misogyny (being materialistic, being stupid) because otherwise we’re gonna keep getting takes like “being gender nonconforming is anti feminist” and “not studying for your classes is feminist”
