Did he imagine Camui here often? That was a good question for Hideto.  If he had to think about it honestly he would have to say yes.  He always missed his love terrible when he wasn’t around.  There was always a small ache in his heart no matter the company that he kept.  In the moments that he was extremely lonely and needed conversations and in the moments he needed his sometimes insatiable carnal desires met, he indeed missed the one male who could complete him in all fronts.  Even his wandering spirit had a home, and after a few years apart once again it was staring back at him with dark eyes.
With that small tug, he settled his small frame on the shadow’s lap, his nose pressed against the crook of the male’s neck to breathe him in.  It was affirmation his eyes that his dearest was actually hearing even though they’d just confirmed such things.  It just had been such a long while since he’d breathed in this heavenly scent.  "I’ve missed you, love,“ he smiled.  "Especially in this home,” he continued catching the male’s gaze.
“I"ve imagined you coming home often, but I also had to stop doing it as well.  We’ve both have lives outside of each other.  Mates, lovers, and everything in between,” he hummed.  "And my selfish nature still has to accept that from time to time,“ he admitted with a sweet chuckle.  "So like always as much as I wish for your presence always. I respect both our choices.”
It was so natural, so easy, to fall back into old patterns. There was just something about Hideto that complimented everything that the shadow was. Even now, even though they had spent years apart. Nothing was different. Old affections were the same, and their constant undying love was part of the shadow’s idea of home. Hideto was his home. He relished in the close proximity of their bodies now, and the rhythmic breathing pattern that Hideto was blowing against his neck. The shadow smiled contentedly, now letting his hands roam to the other male’s slender waist.
“What did I ever do, that I should deserve a love so sublime as you?” Gackt then raised an eyebrow questioningly at his loved one, a curious expression written on his face. “I have had precious few anything since we last met. A single platonic relationship, and no mates or secondary loves.” The shadow spoke softly, his eyes a smoldering mess that locked gazes with his beloved.
“I have left that school in a place far behind me. It was doing nothing to settle my soul as my homesickness only grew by the day. I had no intention of returning here, for I was lost in the shadows of my mind and feared what a return could prompt for me. However, I did so long for home and for you. Now, I am glad that I made this decision, for it has brought me home to you.”

Hideto senses must have also been off because he did not expect his shadow to be as alert as he was as he touched his lover’s skin.  He knew his coolness could be alarming, but not as much to the male that had held him more times than he could even remember.  That was saying a lot for someone who rarely forgot anything. He did hear his lover’s words, but for the briefest of moments he did not say a thing.  He just allowed the warm fingers to hold his eyes as he quickly scanned the full length of the male that lay before him.  He seemed tired, but whole. That was a good thing.
A soft chuckle left his lips.  "I’ve just arrived,“ he admitted, hand raising the one that held his own so tenderly and pressed a gentle kiss to it.  "You are the surprise my dear, and I assure you that I am no illusion.  I would think I shall be the one imagining you here,” he breathed.
It had been quite awhile since they’d crossed paths like it always had been.  Every tie he thought maybe they were somehow managing to merge together the wind and destiny seemed to say otherwise.  Hideto didn’t think he’d see the male for another decade or so. That school had a firm hold on Camui, and he as unsure if it would ever release him in the way he needed him to be released.
“What brings you here, dearest?” he questioned. “Or is that a question for tomorrow?”
It was almost surreal. Like the fairytales where two lovers cross paths because it is pure destiny that leads them together. Seeing his dearest love, now that he opened his eyes, was an immediate prod to his heart to beat faster. This was real, and it was perfect. The sound of Hideto’s chuckling voice made him smile in turn, unable to hold it back. He barely felt the kiss that was pressed to his hand because he was still enjoying the surprise of the unintentional meeting.
“No, you would not be.” Gackt looked his other half steadily even though his eyes were beginning to take on a tender shine. “You never appear this real to me when I am half-mad with delusion.” A pause, followed by an amused question. “Do you imagine me to be around often?”
With simple grace even though he showed signs of physical weariness, the shadow shifted on the sofa so that he was sitting now. His hand never released its grasp on his love, however. There was silence as he considered the question, and spoke as though he hadn't thought about the reason why himself. “I was tired. Tired of everything. My whole being longed to return home.” Gackt tugged on the vampire’s hand then, urging him to come closer. “To see you here makes my heart swell. I missed you.”

Moonlight. It was the only thing illuminating Hideto’s path home along the long driveway. It wasn’t as if he didn’t have lamppost that could be lit up along the path to lighten his view. He didn’t need it. His vision was top notch in the darkness as many creatures of the nights were. It was that coupled with the fact that humans rarely were around this old home. Every now and then he had a few of them clean in the day while he stayed away, sleeping just because the light was something he could not stand.
It was lonely though. No, human companion from which he used as sustenance could not compare to someone who could and would be able to handle all of what he came with. He missed his love terribly so, but he was not one to always seek Camui out. They both needed their time apart only to come back together when one needed the other more than they needed anyone else.
His fingers turned the knob to his home, and he instantly knew something was amiss. The scent that carried him toward his spacious living room was one he knew all too well, one that had just crossed his mind on his unneeded leisurely walk he’d taken after his dinner. There, he lay. Asleep nonetheless. Majestic as ever. Out of habit a gentle, cool hand caressed that of the shadow’s.
Despite the perhaps rather dead-looking way his body had haphazardly dropped onto the sofa, the shadow was not sleeping. Tired as he was, sleep had not come to him fast enough, and so he laid simply to rest his body and bask in the familiar atmosphere of home. His senses were off, for the most part. For who could he have expected to enter his house? All the cleaning people and those in charge of maintenance would have been long gone by now.
But he still felt a change in the air, a certain addition to the energy of the room suddenly. It was until there was a hand gliding over his own that he realized that he was not alone anymore. It was a cool breeze against his warm knuckles, familiar at once. The shadow didn't even need to open his eyes to know who the person was. He just knew.
“I did not realize that you were home, my Hideto.” The words were gruff with that beautiful deep voice. He spoke in a soft voice though, and even that seemed to carry throughout the room as though he’d spoken at a normal volume. The shadow’s hand flipped over so that he could intertwine his fingers with the ones that had brushed against his. “Or is this just my wishes and illusions coming to taunt me in waking moments?”

Homecoming
The flight had been dreadfully long. 12 hours to kill in a first class seat from the United States to Japan was stretching the shadow’s patience, but doable. Besides, he’d done it to himself. He could have just taken a much quicker trip through the shadows, but he was trying to avoid the darkness of his kind for a while. With tiredness nipping at his heels and a pair of sunglasses pushed over his eyes to hide the panda eyes he’d developed over the course of the past week, he pushed through the front door of his one true home.
As expected, it looked well-kept. Not a single pillow out of order. Vaguely, the shadow wondered if the one he shared the house with had been around recently. It was nighttime, and the large windows at the back of the living room were uncovered, letting in delicate moonlight to scarcely illuminate the room. Without bothering to turn the lights on, Gackt dropped his bags to the floor, kicked off his shoes, and collapsed on his favorite sofa. Home at last.

“You are a better person than I, that’s for sure.” An offhand comment that she wouldn’t go into detail with. She liked drama, that was mostly why. She also knew just how jealous other women got when they caught their partner staring at another woman. Human’s really were too easy, and even if she had once been one, she hoped she had never come off as jealous when it came to partners.
She sat back on the bench, feet now perched on the edge to bring her knees up against her chest, head falling back to set a smile on the man she was sat beside, completely ignoring the ever-growing crowd around them. “You could always try to reel me in. I’m sure I would be more of a challenge than desperate single girls looking to find love on Valentine’s day.” Well, she was single, but at least she wasn’t stupid enough to think she could find love. She didn’t think like that. “Your face is just intimidating. They wouldn’t know what to do with someone so handsome~” She chimed in, taking that moment to examine his face.
He really was stupidly good looking. And definitely needed an assertive woman.
“I don’t really-” She had been in the middle of protesting against the cold, but even if she was part of the living dead with no real perception of temperature, how could she resist such an alluring offer? She sat up once more, positioning herself so his jacket could be draped over her shoulders, a self-satisfied little grin popping up on crimson lips she was met with green-eyed envy from over half the women in close proximity to them, playing it up by cuddling into the fabric, turning towards him with a sweet smile. “You’re too much, really. It’s a wonder you don’t have women hanging off you.”
“Oh, I would not speak like that of me just yet. You know not the sort of terrors I have brought upon humans and non-humans alike. I would not say I am a good person, certainly not better than you. You would have to hear what it is that I have done before you pass such positive judgement on me.” It may have been an offhanded comment, but the shadow still felt a little nagging at the back of his mind, reminding him in a whoosh of information that he’d done plenty of terrible things beyond starting drama between couples.
The sound of rustling branches was all around them as couples took little off-the-trail adventures, no doubt to make out in relative privacy, but just as Hyolyn, Gackt was oblivious. He threw his head back in laughter, letting the sound melt the ears of anyone within earshot with its honey-like tones. “I could, though I do not think you would take the bait. If I had moved the night we met, perhaps. Now, I do believe you would simply tie me into your web of hopeless admirers.”  The shadow felt her gaze appraise his face as though she had not seen him before, and he smiled without showing teeth, throwing her his best profile view (even though he was perfect from every angle).
“Then perhaps I need to hide to seem less intimidating?” Gackt asked, taking a pair of dark sunglasses and pushing them over his eyes. As if this would stop anyone from noticing him. Though she seemed to have been ready to put up a protest, she quickly switched her tune as the fabric of his jacket fell on top of her shoulders. Suave, the shadow ran his hands from her shoulders where he had just secured the jacket down over the fabric over her arms until he was holding her hands in his. “I am simply too intimidatingly handsome, am I not?” The shadow kissed the knuckles of both her hands, eyes making enough contact with hers to make a puddle of tears form from all the women and men watching the interaction.
That’s when the music and the dancing started, making the shadow blink and turn his attention toward the lone female who had started some sort of practiced dance in front of them rather show-ish-ly.

Hyolyn had been and would continue to sulk throughout her day. No, she didn’t hate Valentine’s Day, quite the opposite. She enjoyed the sharing of love and the romance that came along with it. What she hated, was the fact that she was left out of all the celebrations, again.
She really just wanted someone to spoil her, was that so much to ask?
Apparently so. But if she was going to sulk about it, she was at least going to do it outside where she could, if she had wanted to, ruin a few relationships on their special day. After all, men’s eyes were easily let when a leggy, raven-haired woman was out in the open. Even if the open was beneath the shade of the trees and away from the glare of the sun.
Funnily enough, she didn’t seem to be the only one vying for the attention of those that were supposed to be in love with their significant other. Her gaze fell upon those of the women that strode ahead of her, whether they were with their lover, or in a group of other women celebrating “Galentine’s Day”, every head turned towards the male seated on a bench placed beneath the shadows of the trees she had been walking under.
“Any luck in wooing the fairer sex?” She asked, taking a seat next to him, a bare leg crossing over the other. “At least give yourself a challenge and try to cover that gorgeous face.” Though, she couldn’t really say much when she had chosen to show just about every asset she had, what with the tiny pair of black high-waisted shorts showing off her legs and the crop top that exposed just enough of her mid-rift. Not to mention having tied her hair back in order to show off slender shoulders and an elegant length of tanned skin.
While the shadow hadn’t intended to steal the limelight from boyfriends who were in the midst of romantic and well-planned dates with their girlfriends, he really should have known better. Tree branches were swaying under the force of the wind that was pushing past, nothing too strong but enough to move blades of grass and flowers from their upright position in bouquets being handed around by the dozens in the park.
The shadow noticed the voice before he saw the woman, though he would have recognized those legs and that face easily anywhere. She sat beside him on the bench with legs crossed and an expression that was almost difficult to read. Too bad her emotions were giving her away, the inner fire in her wasn't hard for the shadow to pick up on amongst all the tooty-fruity-ness of their surroundings.
“My lady, I would never dare to woo the fairer sex while they go about their dates with significant others. It is nice to hear such a compliment, though.” The shadow said in his deeply melodic voice, the notes floating by with a hint of amusement. “My face may be the distracting element amongst women nearby, but it is your beautiful face that is hypnotizing every male within a visible radius.” Gackt chuckled lowly, watching as dozens of men and women tried to hide their disappointment that the two most beautiful people in the area were seemingly together. “You know, you may just wreck any chance of reeling in a fish by sitting with me. Not that any of those juveniles would have the courage to break their engagements to come say hello.”
Despite the playfulness going around, the shadow took note of Hyolyn’s bare shoulders and tilted his head. “Are you not chilly?” Without waiting for an answer, the shadow had swiftly removed his jacket and was holding it open. “You can accept the jacket and watch the poor hearts just in front of you break into a million tiny shards. As could I.”

Valentines Mob
Valentines day, valentines day, valentines day. It was all anyone had on their minds for the past week or so. Those who were in relationships were scurrying to arrange plans before the big day, as if they were preparing for marriage itself. Single people who had crushes were doing much the same, plotting ways to confess their undying love. It was madness with the word ‘love’ attached to it. Either way, Gackt had wandered outdoors today. It was sunny but still cold, so he wore a black jacket, brand named of course, and kept to himself.
Immediately, from the time he had left his room to the current situation in the park, there was an overload of the same emotion coming from every direction. His empathetic powers were getting slightly overloaded by the sugary feeling of love that was surging literally all around him. It seemed almost like his own emotional state was not the bright pink and red colors that everyone else’s was. Wandering may have been a mistake on this day, he thought to himself as he continued down a path that would lead him to one of the few empty benches in the area.
To get to his sitting destination, the shadow had to push past several couples who were loaded with gifts: giant teddy bears, mountains of chocolate, kneeling professions of love. A few girls who were apparently waiting around for a date to show up watched as the shadow strode past with looks of hope on their faces that fell when he didn't give them a backwards glance. It did make the shadow laugh inwardly, to think that there were so many people who admired him but none of them were brave enough to anything other than look on with hope that he’d engage them first. With a sigh, the shadow took a seat on the empty bench which was conveniently placed beneath a medium sized tree’s shade so the sun wouldn't tire the shadow as much.

“People are stupid.” The cupid pointed out, gesturing with the chocolate bar he was eating. “They think that if they want it bad enough, if they say it, maybe it will happen. If someone says I love you to the other, then the step is made. They know the other will feel pressured to say it and maybe they will start to believe it themselves too. It’s not true love, but you know, people are stupid.” He paused and eyed Gackt “Why, did someone confess to you?”
There was little for the shadow to argue in the cupid’s logic. They seemed to have a similar level of insight. He pushed back his weight onto his arms, a more comfortable sitting position for his strained back. “Nobody confesses to me in that manner anymore. There are only those too timid to approach. It only was an observation, as the 14th of the month draws nearer.”

"I'm not the enemy here. But this makes me wonder who the real one is for you."
Broken shards of once beautiful tea cups littered the floor around the shadow, some resting on his lap. Tea dripped from his once well-pleated pant leg onto the floor where a majority had collected after the smashing.
Gackt looked back, but not far enough to show more than a profile of his face to his dear friend. “Of course you are not. We both know who the real enemy for me is. We both know that truth.”

The cupid looked at the creature, he had seen him before in his previous life…
“Because people are desperate, you know, they want it so badly that they think if they say it, they will summon it.’ He smiled “That is not how it works, obviously.”
It was simple, but the shadow shook his head. “I can understand desperation. Do not we all understand it? I can not, however, understand why people have such faith in pure thought. Thought and wanting it enough alone are not enough to invoke power through saying it aloud.”

Conversation
Deep Ass Starters.
Sometimes it's hard to get in depth with your muse and their backstory, because you can't figure out how to bring those things up with others. Here are a couple of starters intended to make things a little more personal!
"What's holding you back?"
"I'm not comfortable with this conversation."
"Will you /ever/ be comfortable with this conversation?"
"Let me in sometime!"
"It's not that easy, you know."
"Help me understand."
"It's hard to connect with someone when all they do is push you away."
"Why are you always so cold?"
"Why are you always so happy?"
"Are you really happy now?"
"Who hurt you this badly to make you this way?!"
"What, did your ex mess you up that badly?!"
"Why do you keep fighting it any time you feel?"
"It's a problem, I get it."
"This is all kinds of messed up."
"That's not exactly a good coping method."
"So what happened, with your parents, really?"
"What was your childhood like?"
"Everyone has at lest a little bit of mommy/daddy issues. It's nothing to be ashamed of."
"My parents aren't exactly perfect models, either."
"You were bullied? What for?"
"Was it hard? Coming out, I mean."
"You can't just run away all the time."
"You can't just hide all the time."
"Are you still thinking about them?"
"I'm not the enemy here. But this makes me wonder who the real one is for you."
"Is the reason you're so cold and defensive because you feel threatened?"
"How long has it been since you last spoke to them?"
"You never talk about it, why?"
"How come you're so different around them?"
"It's like you don't have a care or worry in the world."
"You seem so perfect. I don't get it."
"What was your ex like?"
"I don't think I was ever good enough for them."
"Are you not comfortable being intimate?"
"Why don't you feel comfortable being intimate?"
"Letting someone see you that vulnerable, it's a scary thing."
"Are you scared of being hurt?"
"Have you ever been taken advantage of?"
"Why are you afraid of saying I love you?"
"I never understood how someone could say those words so easily."
"You're hurting others the way you've been hurt in the past, don't you think that's ironic?"
"You use people to make yourself feel better."
"I'm scared of being used again..."
"Losing someone isn't easy, but you're making it harder than it needs to be."
"How long has it been since you lost them?"
"You're too attached."
"I'm not attached, I'm just comfortable with what I'm familiar to."
"Maybe the real reason you're so controlling is because, deep down you'd rather have them in your grasp than lose them."
"Why did you ever break up?" / "Why did we ever break up?"

With the sun lowering itself beyond the horizon, the sky began lending out new colors of orange and yellows with brilliant shimmers of the dying rays of light throwing out one last impressive goodbye. Nighttime was soon to break through that golden glow, and when it did, the shadow would no longer have to feel the strain of daylight taking its toll on his body anymore. A rest from cruel unfeeling light, but then again, he was a creature of darkness. Regardless, Gackt walked past the picture-perfect sunset scenery in the distance, meaning to drop by the cafeteria for a quick coffee- a rarity for such a tea lover as himself.
As usual, his entrance didn't go unnoticed. The buzz in the cafeteria died momentarily, as those closest to the door glanced up and saw the recently missing but impressively handsome man. Truthfully, the shadow had not been out much in the past month or so. Too weary of being in his current position. Too tired. As he was walking past a group of girls that giggled in glee at his small smile in their direction, a flurry of papers landed at his feet. Careful not to step on anything, the shadow looked down at the mess and then at the girl who was scrambling to collect her papers. With a silent chuckle, he knelt down and began picking up a few stray papers, straightening them into a neat pile in his hands. “I do believe to ask such a question, one may need to look beyond a person’s shoes to actually see a face.” The voice that left his mouth was pleasantly deep, soothing and alluring as the structure of his face. It was natural to be drawn to him, pulled in by his handsome features and alluring voice, but the shadow was certain he’d never seen this woman before.

Even as the Sun began to lower itself on the sky, the campus seemed just as alive with creatures roaming around as it did in the morning, all different kinds of winged and wingless bodies ever so often catching her attention as she made her way to the cafeteria. The amount of people living on these grounds was far greater than Bora had ever been used to and it was a torment to get used to considering the direct ‘loudness’ ratio had skyrocketed… Her hearing was very sensitive and required so much energy to train her senses to filter at least some of the ‘aliveness’ of the ambiance.
While studying on one of the quieter corners of the cafeteria, it was taking most of her concentration to shut out the noises closest to her seat and keep her eyes actually engaged on the most recent Botany paper the Owlite had due in two days, and the sounds of a new face sitting right next to her took a couple more seconds to register until it did and startled her enough that her wings twitched behind her and took half of her reference sheets to the ground. ”Oh, what the actual…?” She mumbled, looking at the ground in despair, seeing everything mixed up, before noticing the pair of feet in front of her. “Ah- greetings… I’m sorry, have we met before?” She began but preferred to question her most common inquiry just in case she had seen that one creature before.
