Ask box is currently disabled for mental health reasons; sorry about that. If you want me to participate in an ask game, just tag me with it.Nerd page! I do fanfic (which is alright) and sometimes art (which is less alright). Tendency to jump hyperfixations like a kid on a bounce castle, currently here with Pokemon, FNaF, and Star Wars. I use she/her and tend to prefer Shadow or Pix as shorthands.

I personally do not understand the appeal of ocean cruises.
River cruises I get. You do stuff every day, you still get some nothing time, you can watch the river bank as you relax. The boats are a bit smaller but you can still meet new people. Worst case scenario if a notorious serial killer gets on board you can jump overboard and swim for shore.
Ocean cruises though? Nothing to look at but open water. No place to visit. Stuck for days doing nothing. They’re in international waters so they can pollute all they want. And if a serial killer gets on board there’s no escape. It’s fight or die out there.

“Great art, AI could never do this!” “Hell yeah! I love trans people! Transphobes cannot handle trans swag!” “Look at this lesbian dating another lesbian! We’re about to piss off the homophobes with this one” “POC have great cultural practices. I’m sure the racists are having heart attacks right now.””Love seeing disabled people around. Bet the ableist are peeing their pants right now.”
Oh I get it, we’re in the Bad Place.

touch-starvation needs to be written with emphasis on the starving part. you are hungry to be touched. so hungry that even the very taste of it makes you nauseous. it has been long since anything has ever touched you, ever fed you - that your body has grown more used to that gnawing emptiness more than anything else. it's better for you to be held, to eat but it makes you sick to try. you know

I think it's important to remember, as a rule of thumb, if you take advantage of a social service, it actually makes it easier for other people who need that service to access it. Most of the time, when these services get cut, it's because politicians will look at usage and say "see, no one is really using this thing, we can afford to trim the budget for food stamps by at least half". Whereas if you decide to step up and use these programs, even if you feel like you "don't really need it", at bare minimum it's another data point advocates can use to say "hey, look, people are using this thing, this is an important service we are providing, do not cut our funding".

do you ever just … picture a whole scene, a whole fanfiction in your head, you know how to place every single word of the english dictionary that you need (or your language dictionary), you know how to structure your sentences, you know just what your characters are going to say to each other and then… and then you just open microsoft word.

Language is land, land is language: The importance of Indigenous languages
This collaborative opinion piece, written from the authors’ personal perspectives (Anishinaabe and Gàidheal) on Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe language) and Gàidhlig (Scottish Gaelic language), discusses the importance of maintaining and revitalizing Indigenous languages, particularly in these times of climate and humanitarian crises. The authors will give their personal responses, rooted in lived experiences, on five areas they have identified as a starting point for their discussion: (1) why Indigenous languages are important; (2) the effects of colonization on Indigenous languages; (3) the connections/responsibilities to the land, such as Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), embedded in Indigenous languages; (4) the importance of land-based learning and education, full language immersion, and the challenges associated with implementing these strategies for Indigenous language maintenance and revitalization; and (5) where we can go from here.
