I find it kind of funny that ep. 13 really had such a bad response that everyone seems to hate the next prince now
I feel like before there were a few post here and there saying they weren't 100% satisfied and I also said a few times that I was worried they had too many storylines going on for everything to be wrapped up properly but since the episode came out it seems like they've got the whole audience mad
and of course I know we have another episode left but I think even if it is another longer one like ep. 7 they can't wrap all this up without rushing some things

alright, final verdict of the ex-morning -> 7.5/10
I'm a little late to the party because I didn't have the time to properly write down my thoughts, so here we go:
I enjoyed the show, I can say that much (wow, that actually sounds like I hated it haha) it was fun to watch for sure. BUT it also had a lot to do with the fact the Krist and Singto played the main characters. Knowing they would be in a show together again after such a long time had me so excited especially because - as for many others - Sotus was such a core memory and has a special place in my heart.
That being said, I spent quite a few episodes being pissed about Tam’s behaviour. It was like he just wasn’t moving forward as a character. After the show ended and I went over everything that happened (+ I talked to my sister about it) I understood Tam’s decisions a little better I felt like I kind of knew where he was coming from but some things he said/did were still a little :/ to me.. there were just too many moments in which he just went “hmm” where I had hoped he would react differently. For example, here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like would it really hurt you to just say you're already proud of him? And I'm sure he was, Phi and the Team already put such an effort into getting their Show somewhere and yet there they were at the beach and all he did was look away and then talk about how it's getting cold.. like come on?
I know from the beginning the focus was on Phi and he was set up as the “main” main character and I suppose Tam was meant to be like the “catalyst”. The reason Phi changed in the first place when he left him and the reason he would change again. Like an outer force to help him change on his own. And I do really liked where we ended up with him I was just hoping - until the very end - to get a little more out of Tam. Simply because it felt like Phi was changing so much and really growing as a person while he just kinda stayed the same. A few times people on here were saying they expect Tam to leave just as fast as he did before the moment something goes wrong by the end of the show and I kind of have to agree. I feel like after that time jump before the wedding he seemed a lot less likely to just ditch Phi but that was off-screen development and in the very last episode like?? What were we doing before?
Another thing - that didn't really bother me but that had me a little confused - was the whole Gie/Nhudee/Yong-Situation.. at first it seemed like they were takin the Gie/Nhudee-Route, then we kind of got nothing, only for them to sort of reverse it and make it look like Gie and Yong would get back together for like 5 seconds and in the end it was leaning more towards Gie and Nhudee again. I don’t know if it was intended to be a little back and forth to keep it interesting or if they really weren’t sure what to go for but I think I would’ve liked it if it was a little clearer. Also because I was rooting for Gie and Nhudee even though the concept of ending up with your exes little sister was kind of odd to me at first. Maybe that was why they only hinted at them ending up together. Who knows? I also feel like I’ve seen weirder dynamics happen in bl’s so does it really matter?
Okay, enough ranting about missing character development, onto the good parts: how amazing was that wedding please? Not that I know much about thai weddings but it seemed like such a nice mix of modern and traditional. And I really enjoyed the multiple proposals. I found that very cute and it seemed pretty on brand for them idk. I also loved the styling for the wedding looks but besides that Krist and Singto looked very good overall.
I also really liked the whole cast, lots of familiar faces for me and I loved seeing them together. Specifically Earn and Jamie were a highlight for me, I really liked their scenes together.
Krist did a fantastic job portraying Phi. I wanna say I liked his performance a little better than Singto's but maybe that was also because I liked Phi more than I liked Tam. Especially the scene where he breaks down crying in the bathroom was one that really stuck with me because Krist conveyed all those emotions in Phi really well.
All in all this was a solid show, I think it was a nice little treat for the people that wanted to see Krist and Singto on screen together again. And I think it was super cool that it was actually based on them in real life. I haven't seen this done before. It was so fun seeing them mention Sotus and just the overall parallels to Krist and Singto. There were a few scenes in the show where it genuinely felt like they weren't really acting but just talking. I loved that it felt very natural and just shows how great they work together. Could it have been better in some parts? Yeah sure. But I personally feel like if a show is entirely perfect with nothing to criticise, is it even a good show? Is that even fun to watch? No, probably not. And after all everyone has different preferences and opinions of what they want/like to see in shows.

why was mom SO mean like straight up calling Phi a loser to his face?? I don't care that you're afraid your only son could end up like you.. that's rude
and her trying to take him back to australia like Tam isn't a full grown adult

all the thoughts running through my brain while watching the episode:
great, there go my 5 seconds of happiness
so frustrated that Tam didn't get to tell Phi about the break up reason himself
also that was the reason?? Taaam what were you thinking?? omg
why Yoooong??
just them handling the cat makes me go insane why are you grabbing her like that??
a cat throwing up worries you that much??
Mix!!
you brought the cat to the office??
just makes it seem like Tam doesn't trust Phi to handle the situation on his own
oh, Sosay is so not on this selfie haha
you?? were fine?? while you were gone?
that's right, tell him Phi, how dare he ask you that
they're not gonna kill the cat right??
thank god they didn't kill the cat
is it foggy? inside the house??
he didn't make braised mackerel, right??
I knew it!!
CLOSE THE FRIDGE PLEASE
omg they didn't close the fridge

watching the next prince knowing it is set in 2025 !the present day! really puts into perspective how silly this monarchy thing is
like they truly did not evolve one bit? putting Charan into the horse stable as punishment? that's pretty odd. still having a literal whipping boy? that's actually insane. not letting your daughter participate in this goofy ass tournament because she's a woman and not equal to men?? and of course you can't work in Meenanagarin if you're a woman, because men are supposed to provide for the family.. oh and we can't forget about the dark secret dungeon to lock up evil coaches who poison the prince through his bow and arrow
also love that king grandpa kinda just expected Khanin to go along with all of this when he spent his entire life in a different country and grew up in a society with different norms and values like?? you really didn't think that through, did you?
this entire plan in general is so.. having Khanin live away from his family, not knowing that he's royalty and then just ripping him out of it one day to have him compete in the annual royal olympics?? you don't care about him at all no matter what you say peepaw

honestly, after the last episode I'm even more scared I'm gonna finish this show thinking it was mid even though I had quite high hopes for it
I don't know, I feel like they will drag the whole "I'll tell you when I'm ready"-thing out quite a bit and as of right now I can't really seem to enjoy their cute (present day) moments because they haven't really spoken about the elephant in the room which is Tam ditching Phi overnight and dipping to a whole other country..
I don't want to let this "looming dread" ruin this fun little show so I'll try not to think about it too much (+ we have quite a few episode left to sort this out) but I also just want to get it over with because Tam still acting so oblivious is really getting hard to watch.. like just explain what happened please
especially because Tam is the one that keeps overstepping the line and is constantly trying to flirt with Phi and then everyone acts like Phi is in the wrong for saying something about it or pushing him away

glad to know Calvin is safe and that Jay indeed ran into him and brought him home
and what a silly guy he is like did he genuinely not know how to open that sandwich? that was quite endearing I'm not gonna lie
also bonus points because Jay is so cute I mean have you seen his smile??
