𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗢  𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗬  𝗛𝗔𝗦  𝗔  𝗠𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧  to  think  before  he’s  having  a  handful  of  rats  shoved  at  him  and  he  takes  them  ,  startled  .  it  wasn’t  so  much  that  the  action  was  entirely  unexpected  coming  from  his  somewhat  …  odd  uncle  ,  but  it  was  more  the  hurried  nature  of  the  entire  thing  that  was  somewhat  strange  .  had  something  happened  that  had  caused  bruno  any  degree  of  alarm  ?  or  was  this  just  another  example  of  his  erratic  behaviour  ?  

❝  ay  ,  tío  …  are  you  alright  ?  ❞  he  calls  ,  tries  his  best  to  balance  the  tiny  critters  as  they  squeak  and  attempt  to  chew  on  the  side  of  his  ruana  .  antonio  really  would  have  been  a  better  stand  for  them  ,  camilo  thinks  .  ❝  you  seem  a  little  …  off  today  .  ❞

𝗔  𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥  𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗣  𝗜𝗡𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗘  and  camilo  is  kneeling  down  ,  grasping  antonio’s  hands  in  his  to  pull  his  little  brother  forwards  and  inspect  him  for  any  more  injuries  .  he  knows  that  félix  had  been  careful  to  lift  him  out  of  the  house  while  it  was  falling  ,  but  he’s  sure  that  the  few  scraps  and  bumps  can’t  be  all  antonio  suffered  ,  right  ?  his  breaths  come  shallow  and  quick  ,  and  for  the  first  time  camilo  understands  what  true  terror  is  .  their  gifts  may  be  gone  but  -  as  he  brushes  stray  curls  from  antonio’s  face  -  if  they  have  each  other  ,  they’ll  be  fine  right  ?  they  must  be  fine  .  

❝  hush  ,  toñito  ,  ❞  he  murmurs  lowly  ,  presses  a  shaky  kiss  to  his  brother’s  forehead  and  clutches  him  close  ,  as  though  a  mere  touch  could  undo  whatever  wrongs  had  been  done  .  ❝  we’ll  find  a  way  to  bandage  you  up  ,  alright  ?  i’m  sure  tía  julieta  must  have  something  for  non  -  magical  situations  -  ❞

I enjoy seeing him get up to hijinks on the dash as well. I can't wait to explore more of his character and how he reacts to things developing with Kalia.

out of character .   ah yes absolutely and totally on anon there . in all seriousness though , i greatly appreciate this !! i have definitely gotten a lot more confident with camilo over time so i’m at the point now where i feel a bit more assured with him & writing him comes easier ! i am also excited to see how things end up with the boys !! <3

𝗧𝗛𝗘  𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗬  𝗛𝗔𝗗  𝗕𝗘𝗘𝗡  in  full  swing  for  what  seemed  like  hours  now  .  though  the  madrigals  were  such  a  renowned  family  ,  it  wasn’t  as  though  they  held  such  events  every  day  ,  or  even  every  month  .  no  ,  casita  was  only  open  to  the  public  on  special  events  ,  and  truthfully  camilo  tends  to  find  it  a  little  tiring  .  if  there’s  one  saving  grace  ,  it’s  that  he  knows  he’ll  see  kalia  tonight  ,  regardless  of  how  busy  the  crowds  may  be  .  he  always  has  a  way  of  catching  sight  of  him  ,  even  among  so  many  other  faces  .  he’d  been  busy  entertaining  the  whole  night  and  had  finally  perched  himself  in  an  alcove  to  take  a  breather  when  he  manages  to  locate  kalia  :  across  the  room  ,  talking  to  some  of  the  other  kids  their  age  .  perhaps  they  were  from  school  ?  

a  hesitant  smile  ;  camilo  won’t  bother  him  now  (  being  friends  with  him  would  surely  just  draw  unwanted  attention  )  ,  but  he’s  there  if  kalia  wants  to  speak  .  that  much  ,  he  can  make  clear  .

❝  𝗗𝗜𝗢𝗦  ,  kalia  ,  ​​eres  un  idiota  !  ❞  it’s  not  really  anger  that  bleeds  through  camilo’s  tone  ;  more  concern  as  he  clutches  kalia’s  wrists  in  his  own  hands  ,  stares  down  at  the  worn  skin  .  contrasted  to  his  own  (  soft  ,  never  truly  worked  )  ,  it’s  jarring  .  oftentimes  it’s  easy  for  camilo  to  forget  that  everyone  else  in  the  village  had  to  do  such  difficult  ,  hands  -  on  jobs  while  he  …  he  just  happened  to  be  born  into  the  right  family  .  before  the  other  can  so  much  as  speak  ,  camilo  is  pulling  him  towards  casita  .  ❝  come  on  ,  stupid  .  lets  get  you  one  of  my  tía’s  arepas  .  ❞

𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘'𝗦  𝗡𝗢  𝗔𝗨𝗗𝗜𝗕𝗟𝗘  𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗟𝗬  .  instead  ,  camilo  merely  lifts  one  of  the  cookies  up  and  takes  a  bite  out  of  it  in  almost  spite  -  the  glint  of  mischief  in  his  eyes  ,  however  ,  tells  the  genuine  playfulness  of  the  situation  .  neither  of  them  are  serious  ;  he  hopes  he’s  come  to  know  kalia  well  enough  that  if  the  other  had  been  truly  angry  with  him  ,  camilo  would  have  been  able  to  pick  up  on  that  .  as  it  stands  ,  however  …  he  thinks  they’re  still  in  lighthearted  territory  .

𝗟𝗜𝗣𝗦  𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧  𝗜𝗡  𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗘  and  camilo  does  as  instructed  ,  though  he  can’t  quite  resist  the  urge  to  peek  at  her  playfully  .  the  truth  is  that  regardless  of  what  mei  is  planning  ,  he  trusts  her  —  will  always  trust  her  ,  just  as  he  is  learning  to  trust  her  with  his  heart  .  it  hasn’t  been  an  easy  journey  (  for  camilo  had  been  so  guarded  ;  had  buried  his  real  personality  and  feelings  so  very  long  ago  )  but  he’s  glad  it’s  one  he  embarked  on  .  

❝  alright  ,  alright  ,  promise  i  won’t  look  !  ❞  it’s  good  -  natured  ,  though  camilo  will  admit  to  being  a  little  nervous  .  could  someone  hand  him  a  breakup  ?  was  that  possible  ?  he  desperately  hopes  it  isn’t  .  ❝  let  me  know  when  i  can  open  them  again  ,  mi  amor  .  ❞

𝗛𝗘  𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞𝗦  ,  caught  off  -  guard  by  the  sudden  embrace  (  but  most  certainly  not  complaining  ;  luisa’s  hugs  were  the  best  ,  really  )  .  for  a  few  minutes  he  says  nothing  ,  for  there’s  nothing  to  say  ,  and  then  he  trembles  and  shoulders  shake  as  he  presses  his  face  into  her  shoulder  in  a  last  ditch  attempt  to  hide  the  way  tears  well  in  the  corners  of  his  eyes  ,  track  down  his  cheeks  .  

how  had  she  known  that  he’d  needed  held  ?  had  he  truly  been  so  obvious  about  his  emotional  turmoil  ?  how  disappointing  —  camilo  liked  to  think  he  was  a  better  actor  than  that  .
