The Shapeshifter

(this is my original work, do not steal or risk being cursed)

For I am, The Shapeshifter.

Hollow are my lungs in which I might breathe,

Baring my belly to the blade.

When whimsy hit the showstopper,

I balanced the moon on a wooden spoon—

And now I say, Hush dog, you know not of what you speak.

There’s muscle in this soup

Beware, beware (beware).

(The Shapeshifter.)

To cry, Kill me agapanthus! I beg of thee,

For I am the wreck—

Over the trees,

I am not troubled by the plights of romance

I do as I please

For I am, the lady of the hour

Who has grown into the worst kind of tree,

Who will only do as The Mother decrees.

(The Shapeshifter.)

For I am woman,

And I am man—

Nestled in my womb of briars

Lined in the livers of men, sewn together like a quilt

Sits a gentle song.

Deep in my gut, pearls that tell of times

When The Shapeshifter walked.

Beneath my tricksome tongue, I scorn—

What nonsense you do say!

My skin is the plates of the earth,

That shift as the fires of a hearth

For I am the salt in your wound

I am the crevices of the moon.

I am,

For I am the horned mother of the herd

The soft coat of the wandering wolves

I am the chipped beak of the aged bird

The curved spine of Ornithogalum petals and—

The dead cattle that float down the river I am—

the fruit that fed man, when it all began

and I am to be slain?

By thee?

And what art thou to do?

Leech in the ground in my direction…?

I beg thee take haste.

So I shall. 

This is a poetry blog to express my Shapeshifter words. My main is @mxmorbidmidnight . I have many names. Shapeshifter or any other word that means it,Versipellis, Gestaltwandler, ilcruthach, Vormveranderaar. I am called Lovecat, Werewolverine, Wittekund, She-wolf or Jackalope Hare. Call me as you wish, as long as it is done with respect I will answer.

I am disabled. I write poetry about tics and tourettes, autism, ocd and neurodivergence, as well as my identity as a nonhuman. I am a Shapeshifter that takes a many forms. I write about my identity as a gender fluid person. I am an enjoyer of goth music and literature.
