here's another thought I've been having about Frank Langdon's addiction: it all started with a back injury that another doctor from the same hospital prescribed him painkillers for. painkillers that were probably too strong and too high in dosage. we know for a fact that there is a huge epidemic of doctors who throw painmeds around like candy with no remorse or conscience of what might happen to their patients. with that in mind I genuinely doubt that Frank Langdon is the only patient whose addiction started in this specific doctor's care and it makes one wonder how many other patients this has happened to or if this doctor will ever be investigated. because believe it or not but Frank is not the only one whose prescription writing needs to be audited at this point. and if there is something there, this doctor should face consequences as well.
on this note, with this post, I'd also like to recommend the real life documentary The Crime Of The Century from 2021 on HBO, which dives deep into this exact topic and the beginning of it all. it is very educational and absolutely worth watching. and maybe, just maybe, it will spark a little empathy for patients who put their trust in their doctors but were sent down the addiction road instead.

The Waterfront is what I hoped Yellowstone would be without any of the conservative bullshit. Definitely recommend.

Patrick Ball talking about how often with addiction stories in the media you only ever see a "few types of stories" and their usually told through the lens of external suffering. Is so on point. We don't see that many stories about high functioning addicts, who's struggle is internal. Who for the most part, to the rest of the world present as fine. Also it doesn't hurt that he's white, male, and likely at least middle class. You don't expect someone like him, to be an addict, but the reality is anyone can be become an addict at any point. There is not one way to be, or look like an addict.
I think what I'd like to see in s2, with how Patrick talked about seeing someone in early recovery. Is them not sugar coating how hard it is, but also them not falling into the tried and tested media trap of them feeling like a character has to go through a "certain amount of suffering externally" before they can be forgiven. The character is already suffering, and yes they have to make amends to the people they've hurt, and yes people have a right not to forgive them if they don't wish to. But I hate it when you can tell their putting a character they perceive as "morally bad" through basically trauma porn before the character can be redeemed.
And I know some people may say I'm just rooting for the "attractive male character" but my father was a high functioning addict, so I come at it from having experienced this first hand and wanting to see an accurate nuanced portrayal that can change the way we discuss addiction.

If Robby really did get a motorcycle instead of going to therapy, that's so on brand for the character tbf.

If Robby seriously went and got a motorcycle?! Especially as an ER doc, he knows what happens with those crashes. I'm guessing he did that instead of take up Jack's offer for his therapist's number.

Filming of season 2 has already started? We are so back people. No two year wait? No long drawn out break. That clip is funny though cause it didn't really give us anything.

I've been thinking about the fact that Langdon and Collins were likely med students on the cusp of being interns during COVID, just starting out. Imagine how fucked up that must have been for them; your starting out during one of the worst times to be a doctor in the US. I just know they've trauma bonded.

What Pitt ships do you like?
This has been in my drafts forever; I thought I had responded and then never did. The Pitt is one of those show's where I enjoy most ships, like I've said in the past, I ship them all with each other. However, if I had to give you like my top six it would be:
Langdon/Mel
Robby/Collins
Abott/Mohan
Langdon/Santos (Don't judge me okay)
Abott/Robby
Santos/Gracia
And I can't narrow it down further than that, because at least as far as s1 is concerned, I just love all the ships. Maybe s2 will change things.

When Lorde put out Solar Power a lot of people criticised it because it was a departure from her previous sound. Now she's gone back to an earlier sound; and the criticism is she's trying too hard to capture her youth. Why do we think that is? Maybe because when she tried to grow you all wouldn't let her.

don't get me wrong i am happy for isa, taylor, and katherine but wtf is this variety? "didn't have the room" is a lousy and spineless excuse. for a show that touts diversity the way it does, the treatment of the pitt's brown and black women during this emmy run has been abysmal and disappointing but not surprising. tracy, supriya, shabana deserve the room, they deserve the space, and all the accolades and that's all i have to say.

Not be that person, but Patrick saying "there's a lot more to learn about that," when referring to Mel and Langdon being kindred spirts. Screams emotional affair, here we come to me.

Honestly what's the point of watching TV anymore? I just found out Etoile was cancelled by Amazon. What do show's need to do to get a second season nowadays? Because it's ridiculous. People are not going to watch, if their scared of getting invested because it'll get cancelled. It's so disheartening, first WOT and now Etoile, and a score of others. What's the point? Might as well just binge watch old show's forever.

Sorry but the cast of the Pitt are literally so cute, what do you mean they all went to see Hamlet to support Patrick? Best cast ever.
