ava is frustrated. in fact, she’s angry. she’s spent the last day or two practically arguing with gideon while attempting to assist in the fixing of the waverider. unfortunately, her attempts were for nothing. the waverider remains stuck on the ground, barely even able to lift a few inches from the ground. “remind me to find the off switch for gideon,” she grunts as her fists pummel the boxing bag, ears picking up on the approaching footsteps.

he had been laying there for a good thirty minutes, groaning and whining. You’d think he’d gotten shot. The great Hawkeye, a master assassin and acrobat, taken down by a mere bullet. But nope. He’d just eaten too much and decided the sidewalk was a great place to lie down. “Ugh… I-I think…. I’m dying….” He whined as he rubbed his overfilled stomach.
“Is it possible to give birth to a food baby?
“can you at least die quietly?” ava complains as she looks up from her newspaper - a newspaper she can’t even read because the goddamn text runs backwards, but anyway - eyes on the male that’s now decided the sidewalk makes a perfect surface to lie on gross. “i’m pretty sure that’s called faeces. now, shut up.”

“listen – you don’t have to worry about me.” bruce said to the other as he continued to work on his current project. “i haven’t hulked out since we got here and i don’t plan on it.” he had to admit, he was worried that at any moment the hulk would come out to play and he honestly wasn’t sure if he would ever come back from it. after everything that happened on sakaar and asgard with thor, bruce was convinced that if he turned into the hulk, that he would never come back.
“mind telling me what the hell you mean by hulked out?” ava never grew up with comics nor has she ever expressed interest in fictional heroes - why would she when she has to practically babysit a bunch of morons in leather suits, anyway?

˟ ⊰ ━━ ✰ [ JES MACALLAN, 32, SHE/HER ] have you seen AVA SHARPE, they also sometimes go by DIRECTOR SHARPE? it’s been said that they are AGAINST working with the other side to find their way back home again. SHE has been known to be EFFICIENT yet INSECURE. if you saw HER around, you’d notice their TIED BACK HAIR, TAILORED SUITS, EXPANDABLE BATONS, FIDGETING WITH TIME COURIER, PARANOIA, STICKLER FOR THE RULES.
ava sharpe believed that she had a normal life with two normal parents, normal friends and a normal school - boy is she wrong !! unbeknownst to her, her entire life is an absolute lie fabricated by rip hunter and the time bureau because... *dramatic gay pause*... ava is a clone !!
an advanced variant automation clone, to be more precise. she’s not the first, either. in fact, she’s not the first, second, third or even the tenth - in fact, ava is the twelfth clone to work for the time bureau. despite this, however, rip believed her to be special. a one-of-a-kind person that is due to do remarkable things both for herself and for the bureau.
it’s through her work, as a time bureau agent, that she met the legends and, more particularly, a small annoying blonde called sara lance. she immediately took a disliking to them. how could she not? they’re unorganised, constantly broke the rules, and quite frankly, were a pain in the ass to anyone who met them. she hated the fact that she practically had to babysit them through time.
though, soon enough, she began to see them in a different light. she saw how much they cared, how much of themselves they put on the line to save others, and what they risked to make sure that the timelines stayed intact, though that never once lessened the fact that they were dumb as hell in her mind.
she began to work more closely with sara lance, often finding herself at the woman’s side fighting battles she couldn’t even dream of in her wildest dreams - though, let’s be real, ava’s “wildest dreams” often involved completing all her paperwork in time and kicking the asses of the most annoying of the legends (looking at you ray and nate). they sparked an unlikely friendship that soon turned to something more, allowing ava the space and the ability to be more free in who she is. in fact, some might say that ava even learned to have fun.
when gorilla grodd went on a rampage, the director of the time bureau was killed thus triggering a turn of events that named ava the next director. and, as expected, she took to the role like a rubber duck to peter parker’s bathtub. her ability to keep a level head and make smart decisions helped her set herself in a position that wouldn’t dared to be questioned by those work under or alongside her.
when the reveal of her true form came around, ava pulled back from everything and removed herself from sara’s life - even though sara had already dumped her by this point - as she struggled with a sense of identity. she didn’t know who she was in the grand scheme of things and, with the knowledge that her life is a literal lie, she couldn’t picture herself being of any use.
currently, she and sara have worked through their differences and are trying to build their relationship back up, but ava is still in a place that is uncomfortable, uncertain and unsure. she wants to be the person she spent her life trying to become but, with the knowledge that she’s replaceable not unique in every way possible, she doesn’t know why she even tries. it’s not going to change fact and reality, after all.
with the collision of worlds, ava is even more distrustful, withdrawn and nervous. she doesn’t trust anyone and rarely allows herself time to get past that roadblock. in her mind, there is no point. when all is said and done, someone is going to solve what’s going on and things will return to normal. until then, she refuses to get used to yet another life she never asked to live.

“ don’t call me that,” Nate told her looking up from the table he sat at. “I became Iron Lad for a reason, Im not a future villain,” he said before standing up. Not many people knew about him being Iron Lad, but she did and he wanted as few people to know. Nate looked out of the window of the building they were in to see the storm. The winds and the rain were loud and could be heard from inside. “I can take you wherever you want to go and I’ll make sure you don’t get impaled by a telephone pole.”

“you just told me that you’re a future villain, that’s your words not mine,” ava argues as she continues to pace. she doesn’t do well with idle, she prefers action and the ability to move and leave, now she’s just stuck and... well, bored, for lack of a better term. “iron lad? did you let some old scottish dude name you?” she lifts a brow. “i’m guessing you have iron powers, then?” his suggestion soon stops her in her tracks and she turns to face him, a sceptical look upon her features. is he being serious? “and how exactly can you take me anywhere? i’m not saying that you can’t, i just want to know how. i’m not going to put my life in the hands of another without knowing why i should.”

credullous:
ray had updated his suit many times since he’d taken the bees into the water in central city. the differences between then and now were absurb and plentiful, but he still hadn’t managed to concur the skill of making a suit - entirely based on electricity - waterproof. he could fly, yes, that was helpful. but he’d woken up with water already flowing into his house, and his suit was definitely malfunctioning. it was a bad idea, and he could think of at least three people who would yell at him for it, but he’d put it on anyway, and ignored the slight buzz of electricity that he’d felt as he’d done so.
that had been a mistake. a definite, obvious mistake, that he was feeling more than ever now, a good few hours later, as he was hurtling into the water from where he’d been surveying above. he hit the water with a crack, and his suit buzzed, crackling and short-circuiting. while he was still in it. “oh darn- oh, no.” he said quickly as he scrambled onto a floating car. he pulled off his helmet, but he was being electrocuted from practically all over. it certainly wasn’t the worst pain he’d felt, but it hurt a damn lot.
“sorry, excuse me?” he called to someone else who had been brave enough to face the storm. “sorry! hello, do you think you could help me to dry land? i’m having a bit of a - uh - problem with the suit.”

and of course she’s the one landed with ray smiles-a-lot. “there’s no way i’m going in that,” she points at the ever rising water level that surrounds the car he’s on. ava is a good swimmer, she knows this and, under normal circumstances, would let others know just how great she is, but with the unpredictability of the weather above them, she doesn’t want to chance it. not when she doesn’t have powers of her own to drag her out if things go tits up. “not to point out the obvious -- which i seem to do constantly around you lot -- but just take your damn suit off.”

“believe me, or not, but i’ve heard that same, exact line coming from everyone i’ve ever came into a longer contact with at least three times a day,” she thought it was worth mentioning, even if to just fill the room with something other than a deafening silence. while she wasn’t necessarily a talker, sara still had a whole lot to say, whether people liked it or not – she couldn’t care less. she cared, however, about everything when it was coming to ava; seeing that she wasn’t in the best of moods ( which, to be completely honest seemed like her default setting, at this point ), she decided to just suck it up and keep most of the snide comments to herself. for now. “— we can,” she then agreed, resting her elbows against the very same table the other woman had just slammed her courier on, “i’m all ears, i guess? what would director sharpe do? what is the plan?”

“that doesn’t surprise me one bit,” ava can’t help but reply. her relationship status with sara might have changed over the course of the last couple of months or so, but that doesn’t mean her fundamental opinion has. as she’s been told and has witnessed, the legends have a tendency to mess things up, it’s occasionally hard for her to see past that. “well, director bennett would have found a source point - figure out what changed, where it changed, and what the knock on effects are,” ava answers. despite the fact she’s been director for quite some time now, she still circles back to what her predecessor did. she’s yet to find a place of comfort where her own decisions can be trusted, especially when she’s still coming to terms with the fact that she’s not the first ava, nor the second for that matter. “all i know is that my courier isn’t working, the waverider is dysfunctional at best and everyone is scattered. i don’t think this is something we can fight, sara.”

“— wait! i actually know what you’re going to say, so let me just…” here we go again; sara’s mischievous smile could only widen, and at the moment, her own wit was the only thing she could blame it on. she then cleared her throat, knitting her brows together, and… “i have no idea what is going on, but i just know it’s the legends’ fault, you always seem to bring the trouble with you, no matter what,” a not-so-perfectly executed impression of the one and only ava sharpe could only make things better, or… worse. it was a gamble, really. but the blonde couldn’t help herself and try to relieve the heavy tension in the room. “now, do tell – was my performance great, or simply outstanding? i have been saving this one up for desperate times, and it looks like it’s the best moment to execute what i’ve been working on for months.” // @sharpcs

“--- you’re unbelievable,” ava walks past sara and throws her time courier onto the table. at this point in time, all it is is a useless black band around her wrist. “but yes, if you must know that thought did cross my mind once or twice,” she then admits. would she really be ava (if she was even ava to begin with) if she didn’t immediately find the legends at fault? she’s known them long enough to know they usually have something to do with the world turning upside down. though, in this instance, logic could only step in and assure her that, in this case, they were innocent. “can we focus on the task at hand, please?”

OPEN STARTER
“How do you feel about all of this?” Nate asked the other regarding the mirrored world that was now their home. “It gave me the escape I needed. I can’t become the villain I was supposed to become if I’m stuck here, and I’d like to keep it the way.” He admitted. Nate truly did enjoy living in this part of the past. He didn’t particularly enjoy talking about himself being from the future and how he was supposed to become Kang the Conqueror, but for the current conversation it was fitting.

ava doesn’t exactly know how she managed to get herself stuck in this conversation, but with a time courier fritzing on her wrist, she doesn’t have any other choice but to remain where she is. at least for now, anyway. “great, so i’m stuck in a room with a future villain and i can’t even leave because the wind might decide to impale me with a telephone pole? this is great,” the director of the time bureau mumbles as she finally stops fidgeting with the damn watch. “who knew that a messed up world being ravaged by a storm could be such a blessing in disguise,” she then tacks on -- clearly having lost her own tact in the storm minutes before.
