i started playing shows on my own. its fun and scary and my friends have been really supportive. my next one is at 603^ on sunday with Mal Devisa. ill probably get my ass kicked because she is incredible.

i decided that to make sure i keep practicing, i would do one cover a week and record it. whatever! here is tiniest seed by angel olsen. i got really distracted at the end because i saw my neighbor doing whipits outside the window.

Gary, Goodbye Blue Monday, 12/30/10

Gary was an Epoch missing link of sorts, made up of Gabby, Felix, Lago, Jack Greenleaf, & Oliver. This is the only show I remember them playing in New York City. This also happens to be the day I met Montana Levy, who’s come to be the little sister I never had. There is no photograph of that meeting.

The three [Gabby Smith, Oliver Kalb & Felix Walworth] decided to play in each other’s projects more regularly, as well as form a band called Gary with [Lago] Lucia. Gary was an avenue to practice and preview early versions of their individual songs, like Told Slant’s heartbreaking “In San Francisco.”
