It’s only been a day since the motive was revealed and for the residents of DORM TWO, things were anything but peaceful. There was a loud crying echoing throughout the halls that were keeping at least everyone on the third floor awake, if not the entire dorm.
TIME: 0230 HOURS
Your phone rang loudly and with a quiet groan you dragged yourself over to it. You had no idea what the Wardens could want at this point. It was far too early for them to do anything. Serena appeared on your screen and it was clear that she was tired and irritated. Even in your half-awake state, you knew that wasn’t a good combination.
“Effective immediately all sleeping restrictions are lifted until further notice. That is all for now. Oh and Artemis can you please go and shut that demon cat up, he’s even keeping us up.”

It’s been a full week since Ruri revealed the latest additions to the prison and in the meantime you’ve seen various people working on getting their decks back. It seemed from a distance that anyone who had to talk to Serena for their decks back were having a rough time. However, based on the brief glimpses of interaction between the Wardens and your fellow prisoners they almost seemed…normal? It was a hard thought to swallow, it wasn’t even that long ago that you watch them execute two people, one of them innocent.
Your thoughts were soon interrupted as your phone went off. Picking it up you were expecting to see one of the Wardens appear. Instead you saw Xiangshang Magician appear on your screen. She seemed a bit upset as she started to speak.
“Everyone, the Wardens have called a meeting in fifteen minutes. Please do not be late or else White Wing Magician will have to take action.”
With that said, the magician disappeared from your screen. It had to be something important if the Wardens wanted to see everyone in person. You immediately got ready to go see what the Wardens wanted. The thought of having to suffer through one of White Wing Magician’s punishment was motivation enough. The images of Yuuri being attacked by that dragon were still fresh in your mind.
You arrived at the designated meeting spot with plenty of time to spare. You glanced around and noticed that you weren’t the only one who ran over here quickly. It was clear to you that the idea of suffering a similar punishment to Yuuri scared people. In the meantime you tried to figure out why the Wardens summoned you here. The only plausible explanation you could come up with was that they were bored and wanted some more bloodshed. Though after the Costume Ball, the Carnival, and the construction of the duel arenas… could they really be that bored?
Exactly fifteen minutes later a gust of wind shot through the plaza and standing once again on the rooftop of the General Store were the four Wardens. Yuzu, Rin and Serena were all easy to see and seemed to be excited to be here. However, after a bit of concentration you were able to see Ruri hiding behind the other three girls. It almost seemed like she didn’t want to be here. Though that shouldn’t be right, she was one of the Wardens, one of the girls running this place. Your eyes had to be playing tricks on you… right? A loud clap snapped you out of your senses as you saw Yuzu draw everyone’s attention.
“Everyone is here? Good. Time to get this meeting started. Things have started to calm down around here and we are finding that a bit boring. So to liven things up a bit here, we are giving your next motive to kill.”
With a snap of her fingers, a black wave of energy rushed through the crowd. You instinctively raised your arms to protect your face despite knowing it wouldn’t do any good. The energy passed through you without any harm as you slowly lowered your arms. Flexing your fingers you didn’t feel any different and you glanced back up to your Wardens to try and understand what happened.
“I hope you are good with kids.”
Serena teased you as the rest of the Wardens seemed pleased with their work. Glancing around the group you finally realized what the Wardens did. The Wardens turned roughly half of the group into toddlers! After a few moments of watching the group cry out in confusion and concern, Serena cleared her throat to draw the attention back to her.
“Assuming that you aren’t blind or stupid you can see that some of your comrades were turned into children. They mostly have the memories of when they were a child but still retain some of the more impactful events that happened later in life. Now if you want to make sure that they stick around I suggest you start planning on shedding a bit of blood.”
Once Serena stopped talking, Rin stepped a bit forward as she surveyed the group. She didn’t seem too thrilled with something and that had you concerned.
“Though if you go after the children, you are a disgusting pig. So anyone who dies and is under the age of five will not count towards the motive completion. However, that also means that their death won’t be held against you in our eyes. So have fun and don’t forget the sleeping restrictions are still in place.”
With that said, there was once again another gust of wind and the four Wardens were gone like that. You glanced around at the remaining teenagers and adults with concern in your eyes. You weren’t sure how many people had experience with kids and with the sheer number affected things were going to get chaotic. Though there was something Serena said that rubbed you the wrong way.
What could she have meant by ‘them sticking around’?
Regardless of what she meant, you couldn’t focus on that right now. First things first, you had to figure out how to deal with this motive since you could already see some of the kids were on the verge of crying.
This is going to be a long motive.
Motive: A handful of the players were turned into toddlers until someone commits murder! Things can’t be that bad right? They are only children, however, the Wardens are known to add additional motivation if things aren’t moving quick enough.

It’s been a few days since you’ve been issued your current challenge by the Wardens when your phone flashes to life again. This time, it’s a pleasant looking magician whom you’ve never seen before tip her hat at you with a smile from her hologram. She seems harmless, but has an unusually bubbly air about her that can never mean anything good in the hell you’ve found yourself trapped in.
“Good evening! I know everyone’s having fun regarding the current challenge, but we have a very special announcement to make regarding one of you, so if you all could make a brief visit to the Central Plaza, we have something entertaining to share!”
Without any further explanation, the screen on your phone flickers back to black and you’re left with nothing but the strange magician’s request. This was new, but something told you it was a request that you shouldn’t ignore either.
TIME: 1400 HOURS
The magician seems to greet the gathering crowd with the same eager enthusiasm you saw in her hologram. She smiles; an alarmingly innocent grin that feels almost out of place with the company you find yourself surrounded with, but she continues on with a light wave of her short, crystal-tipped staff anyway.
“My apologies for not introducing myself before! I’m White Wing Magician and my overseers tell me that someone in this crowd has broken one of our rules. Specifically, the ban on threatening any of our wardens!” White Wing raises her staff in an almost carefree manner, pausing playfully before dropping it to pin an accusing point right on someone in the crowd.
“Yuuri! You were found guilty of threatening a warden by way of vicious verbal insults! As decided by your higher ups, you will now face punishment for your actions as a rule breaker here deserves. The rest of you will be his witness!” A snap of her fingers breaks her cheerful demeanor; an eerie purple cloud billowing up from the ground in front of her on her command. Soon, it takes the shape of a dragon—a dragon hopefully very familiar to Yuuri.
It’s his very own Starve Venom; the swirling dust mimicking the form of the claws and wings of his precious beast until an exact replica stands in front of her prey like the regal mother she is, eyes shining a bright green as she stares down one of her own before parting her jaws in an almost disappointed roar. It’s the first time you’ve seen Yuuri look so defenseless, you wonder if it’s still the same boy who’s filled the IMs with his sarcastic remarks before.
With a sickening snap, the poisonous dragon lunges forward to sink her razor sharp teeth right into Yuuri’s side, any yelp from her victim drown out by Starve Venom as she flares her wings to hold down her catch. The injuries aren’t fatal, but they are enough to let a potent toxin seep through the wounds as she clamps her jaws tight, her venom burning itself deep before the cloud of magical dust abruptly disappears.
“Hallucinogenic poison~!” White Wing chirps, though you’re not sure if Yuuri can even hear her as he doubles over from the assault, “It’s not permanent, so don’t worry. But he’s sure to feel its effects long after he’s finished thinking about what he’s done~”
“That’s all! You’re dismissed to go back to whatever you were doing beforehand, even you-” she waves her staff innocently at Yuuri before beaming you an almost stomach turning smile, her staff perched lightly on her shoulder, “Until next time! Though follow the rules and hopefully you won’t be seeing me any time soon.”

It’s been a few days since the Costume Ball and things seemed to be returning to normal. The Carnival was still going on providing a much-needed distraction from the harsh reality that you lived in. Despite all of these fun events going on, you were still trapped in a killing game and who knows how much longer before the Wardens give you another motive to kill.
Speaking of your Wardens, your phone started to ring and as usual, a hologram appeared; this time it was Ruri. She seemed noticeably happier since the execution.
“Just a few updates for everyone. We’ve decided to modify slash lift one of our original rules. From now on, those of you who are related can now sleep in the same room — however, if you are not related then the original rule still stands.”
Hearing that they were loosening the rules on everyone was good news, even if the rule change only affected a small number of people. It was an unexpected but very welcomed change.
“Also, for those who are too young to use D-Wheels but still want to experience Turbo Duels, we have added several pre-constructed Duel Boards for you to use and added the materials needed to craft your own to the scrapyard.
“Finally, in regards to getting your decks back like Serena hinted at before the Ball, I’m happy to announce how to earn them back. Based on your primary method of summing you will talk to one of us and from there we will give you a series of tasks to earn your decks back. I will handle XYZ decks, Rin will handle Synchro decks, Serena Fusion decks and Yuzu will handle Pendulum decks as well as everyone else since we have a few of you there with unfamiliar summoning types.
“With that, have a good rest of your day and I’ll be seeing a few of you soon.”
This is the official start of Chapter 2, if you have any friends who might be interested in joining the group we will be officially closing applications the day that the motive goes live.
Expect applications to be open for roughly another week or so depending on the mods’ schedules.
Both biological and non-biological siblings count for the rule change. As long as the characters are related in some way they can share a room.
In order to get your decks back, you’ll have to do the unthinkable — actually talk to your wardens! That’s right, it’s all IC for this. We’re not giving passes, so either suck it up and talk or kiss your deck goodbye.
We have a surprise planned for a later chapter for those who retrieve their decks...better get on it!

Ever since the Wardens announced the Costume Ball, you’ve noticed that several of the other prisoners were scarce in their appearances. You haven’t seen Artemis, Gabe or Yuuri in the last week and you rarely saw Yuuya, Yuugo, Yuuto and Chat Blanc. Out of the entire group, you saw Yuugo the most and usually, he was running around with various foods in his arms. Now that you thought about it, the only Warden you saw outside of the announcements was Serena. The other three girls seemed to be missing as well which had you uneasy.
If anything, it was surreal, considering what a group all of them were. They had their own presence, enough that it was fairly noticeable when they were gone. Without Yuugo’s screaming, at least, things seemed more peaceful.
The day of the ball, you’ve not even seen Serena, and that’s concerning in the least. That’s why you’re so surprised when a message, not a hologram pops up on your phone, simply saying that the ball starts at 8 and costumes are required. You know there’s some in the store, fairly simple and not very unique, but there was only one of each kind. You supposed it would be easier to tell everyone apart if nobody wore the same costume.
When eight hit, you had already headed down to the transporter in your dorm. For just tonight, it would take you to the ball, and you were only the faintest bit nervous as you stepped in. With a rush like falling, you found yourself standing just outside two gigantic gold-accented doors. Soon, they pushed open and everyone around you was able to filter in.
As you do, you finally spot Chat Blanc and Artemis. Chat’s decked out in a white tuxedo, complete with a white tail and white ears, matching down to his white mask. Even his hair had been pressed and tamed, though it still flared like normal. On his arm is Artemis, her normal mask replaced with a pale pink, beaded mask, made to match her pink dress, with beading upon the corset and a fluffy chiffon skirt, topped with white gloves that went almost completely up her arm. Her hair was done up in a bun, accentuated with a braid around the base and a beautiful silver hair piece.
Not far from them is Gabe, who looks quite different from how you normally see him. Dressed head to tow in beautiful purple hues, he has a simple yet elegant suit accented in white along the edges and a stunning butterfly broach at his collarbone. Black boots that come to the knee and a mask that’s shaped rather oddly frames his face, completing the ensemble and making him look almost like a super hero.
You glance to your right to finally see the boys, decked out in gorgeous costumes that you knew had to have been custom made. The attention on each outfit was exquisite, and they almost made a matching set if they weren’t so different colored. You wonder if they’re supposed to match or not, until your attention is drawn to the other end of the immaculate ballroom, those doors opening to reveal the wardens. Suddenly, the outfits made more sense.
Yuzu strode in first in a pale blue gown accented with flowers and glittering in the light, much like the white flower that settled in the lapel of Yuuya’s tux. Her hair was still pulled into her ponytails but the ends were curled, and jeweled flower pieces were clipped into her hair.
Rin followed after and suddenly the pale blue accents of Yuugo’s white jacket made sense. Her gown was an array of shade of light blue, accented with chiffon the color of ice and darker blue accents embroidered along the waist and off the shoulder ‘sleeves.’ A crystal hair piece had been tucked into her hair as well.
You were pleasantly surprised to see Ruri come next. In a royal purple gown that came with an accented flowing cape, Ruri was the first to have long sleeves. The only skin that peeked out was the keyhole of her gown, the fabric glittering as she moved. Her long hair had been partially done up in a bun and pinned up with glittering feather pieces, perfectly matching the subtle silver detailing on her dress. Yuuto’s silver and purple suit looked just as princely as it could to match.
Serena came last and, as could be expected, was the only one who had forgone a dress. A pale blue corset with a partial, black fitting cardigan-like design and a short hi-low skirt was accented perfectly by her black, thigh-high boots and dark shorts. Unexpected, though, was that it didn’t fit Yuuri at all and they’d clearly not been made to match. Though, considering his attitude towards her, one could assume it was purposeful.
“Welcome, everyone,” Yuzu calls out and you can tell how excited she was by her voice. “Tonight, we celebrate All Hallow’s Eve. For celebration, we’re throwing you this ball. Plenty of food and drink will be provided, as well as music, of course. You’ve been transported inside a castle. The entirety of the castle is open to be explored if you need a break, and there’s even a garden and labyrinth outside. You’re unable to leave the grounds, of course.”
“Tonight, all rules have been lifted, besides the one where you cannot hurt us. Furthermore, any murder committed tonight would not count towards you getting out, so I highly suggest against it,” Rin broke in, stepping forward as well. “Tonight is for a party, so enjoy yourselves. You may head back to your dorm at any time with the transporter. Otherwise, you will be transported back automatically at sunrise.”
“Furthermore,” Ruri speaks up, and she looks like she’s trying to contain herself. A bit louder, she continues. “Tonight is the time to celebrate the dead, those we love and those have lost. So tonight, please, we ask for your respect. Most of all...have fun.”
The Halloween Costume Ball is here! This event is completely optional but we encourage you to have fun, sing, dance and eat!
All rules are lifted until sunrise, other than the rule that you cannot cause harm to the Wardens or staff.
You can explore the entirety of the castle and its grounds but you cannot leave it. Attempting to leave will result in a nasty shock.
Furthermore, it looks like the wall between the living world and the realm of the dead is thinner than normal...you might see the return of those you have lost.
lmfao I just want to cause Kasa pain
From the mods of CS, we wish you a Happy Halloween!

It’s been less than a day since you heard your phone ring. You had no idea what the Wardens could be up to right now to add onto the Costume Ball and the Carnival going on. You knew that your questions would soon be answered as not just one but two Wardens showed up.
“Good morning, I hope you are having fun and getting ready for the Costume Ball coming up. Just a little update for all of you. You might have noticed that in the lobby of your dorms that there is a new transporter. We have completed construction on the Turbo and Ground Duel arenas fully equipped with the newest Solid Vision technology. There are pre-constructed D-Wheels for you to use but parts and equipment to make your own.”
For a few moments that seemed like a great thing, though the smile on Serena’s face had you hesitant. Whenever she was smiling things seemed to not end well for you.
“If you haven’t noticed by now, your Duel Decks are missing. Don’t worry though we have them and if you want them back you can earn them back by doing a few little challenges for them. If you don’t feel like doing that or you’ve never dueled before we have starter decks and booster packs in the General Store for purchase. Good luck, you are going to need it.”

You’ve had a few days to cool off and process everything that’s happened in the last few days. So when you heard your phone ring again, your first instincts were not to throw it like last time. This time it is a hologram of Serena who appears on your phone.
“For those living in Dorm Three might have already noticed this but we’ve set up a carnival behind the General Store and next to Dorm Three. You’ll find your typical carnival rides, games, food, and a few extra surprises there. Just because we are feeling generous. everything there is free. So have fun and don’t forget the upcoming Costume Ball.”
So the Wardens have decided to host a carnival before the big Costume Ball. You’ll find a wide assortment of your typical carnival rides and games.
True to Serena’s words, all of the games and rides are free with the prisoners having an opportunity to win the normal cheap toys found at carnivals.
It seems that two archetypes of Duel Monsters are in charge of the Carnival and all its attractions. The lovable Entermates and magical Entermages are here to entertain you! Even some other Duel Monsters have shown up to help.
Though there seems to be something lurking in the shadows of the carnival.
There are several Fiend-type Duel Monsters lurking in the shadows of the carnival with the primary goal of scaring the prisoners.
While prisoners can strike these Duel Monsters out of reflex without punishment from the Wardens, there is no guarantee that the Duel Monsters will not retaliate.
However, if you do not touch them, they will not touch you.

After Yuzu’s message, you finally get to your room and notice something strange on the bed. It was a decent sized package which was a cause for concern. You knew you locked your door before you left for the trial.
Right?
Carefully walking over to the box you noticed a note carefully placed on top of the box.
While we couldn’t let you run around here with all of your powers, here’s a small gift from us. -Your Wardens
Opening the box you immediately recognize the fabric held within. It was an exact replica of your hero costume with a Kwami to match. The only thing missing from the box was your weapon.
Figures they wouldn’t give us anything useful.
How the Wardens found out about your Kwami, you weren’t quite sure. Though there was one thing for sure, you felt like this was some cruel joke being played.

You almost throw your phone when it rings; you’re angry, angry at this game and its Wardens, at the needless death going around. Yet, you don’t have a chance to hide it as a hologram of Yuzu pops up.
“Well, that little oversight aside, we’ve got two last announcements before we leave you all be for a bit. You’ll find now that the North Gate, also known as Gate One, is opened. That’s Ruri’s territory, so venture if you dare. On top of that, we will be having a little event to...lift your spirits. It’s almost Halloween in the outside world, so we’ll be taking a little trip soon! With that, Halloween night we will be hosting a costume ball.”
“The general store is open with many basic costumes, dresses and tuxes that you’ll get for free. One per person! We’ve also granted you a sewing room at the back of the store, though you’ll have to buy fabric. It’s stocked with several machines, tools, patterns and miscellaneous supplies like stuffing. Go crazy.”

The time for voting is done, you note, as all the screens grow dark, whether or not the user has voted. In front of you, you see the Wardens raise to their feet. Serena snaps her fingers and in the middle of your circle of podiums, the somber form of Xiangsheng Magician appears. With a quick glance around the room, the magician brings up a screen.
“With a total of 9 out of 12 votes, the prisoner you’ve voted guilty of murder is Izaya Orihara.”
You almost jump when Rin begins to clap, her amber eyes lit up with amusement.
“Good job, everyone!” she says, stepping forward to greet you. “You got it right — well, most of you did, anyway. Some of you got a little lost and took my comment a bit too far. Don’t worry, I don’t blame you for voting for the dumb cat, but do be a little smarter next time, okay?”
“Izaya, that means you’ve lost the game,” Yuzu points out, snapping her fingers too; thin vines wrap around Izaya before he can say anything, a couple wrapping around his face to gag him. She didn’t care much for whining. “Everyone, through these doors, okay?”
You glance behind you and realize that the doors on the far wall that no one’s paid attention to have opened. Creepy, but not anything compared to murder, so you shuffle through with everyone else. Inside is what almost seems to be an arena; it’s almost an oval and one half is littered with benches, as if a performance is about to go on. You move to the side as the Wardens enter the ring, Izaya in tow — except Ruri, who hesitates to step in, sending her counterparts a pleading look. She’s met with harsh glares, forcing her to take a breath and step in as well.
“Now, what better send off for Izaya failing to escape than his very own execution?” Yuzu calls out once everyone’s inside and somewhat settled. The doors from before slam shut with a loud, resounding bang, and you can’t help but flinch. “Are you all ready?”
“Yuzu,” you see Ruri whisper but you can’t hear the words; again, she’s met with a harsh glare. It seems like Ruri doesn’t want to do this.
“Now, Izaya, you’re enough like a pest that I think the only way to send you off is with a hunt.” Yuzu flicks her wrist to reveal a card in her hand. Activating the Duel Disk that sits on her arm, she grins. “For this show, I think Vendread Houndhorde will be the perfect costar!”
With another flick of the wrist, she sets the card onto her light field, and the growling begins; the room darkens all at once, lights flickering as ooze bubbles from the floor, and soon claws appear as vicious, disgusting dog-like creatures drag themselves from the ooze, drooling and snapping as they circle their prey. You’re almost entranced by it, but a commotion behind you catches your eye.
“—Kurosaki, no!” Was that Artemis? You barely turn to see her, the ex-Warden having broken from the protective hold of her cat and reached forward, but it’s too late. You see it now, one of the other prisoners has shoved his way to the front.
“Ruri!” It’s Kurosaki, like she said. Shun, if you recall, was his first name…the elder brother of one of their infamous Wardens. He slams his hand against the railing of the arena, causing all of the hounds to stop and look at him. “Ruri, that’s enough! You know this isn’t right, you know better! Don’t you remember yelling at me for carding Academia soldiers? Two wrongs doesn’t make a right, Ruri, you told me that!”
“Shun—” Ruri starts, but it’s too late. To her horror, the teenager jumps the railing and lands in the arena.
It’s all a blur, you realize, because whatever else Shun had to say is lost to the echoes of the hounds screeching and converging on Shun. You close your eyes as they rip at him despite Ruri’s screaming and sobbing, and you only dare to look when Yuzu calls them off moments later. It doesn’t matter, it seems, the damage has been done. Shun’s body is covered in blood and bite marks, flesh ripped away and no light left in his eyes.
“God damn it, Yuzu!” Ruri screeches, turning her gaze on the Warden. Tears are streaming down her face and you almost feel bad for her. She’s absolutely hysterical, and for a moment, she seems like any of you, distraught over the loss of a loved one. “Why didn’t you s-stop them? That’s my b-brother! That’s Shun! I ne-never wanted him here, I-I begged to send him h-home—”
“Get her out of here,” Yuzu snaps at Rin, the other Warden’s hold on Ruri slipping a bit in surprise. Still, she nods, and that familiar wind forces you to close your eyes long enough for them to disappear. Yuzu steps forward, and the hounds don’t bother her at all, nudging Shun’s arm with a foot. “Poor, dumb bastard. Well, let’s continue, shall we?”
Due to not having an executioner, the mods have decided we will not be including execution drabbles in this verse. We already have so much on our plates that delaying the verse for drabble that may not be well written seems silly to us. Obviously executions still happen in canon, but there will be no drabble for you all to read. We apologize.
You may now react to the unwritten execution, but keep it vague.
Unlike some murder verses, we will NOT be enforcing the “don’t look away or you’ll be punished” rule.
What’s most important is that your character reacts how they should; if they’re going to look away, let them. If they’re going to be frozen in horror and watch the whole thing, even better, but do what’s right for your muse.
This officially brings CHAPTER ONE: MONOCHROME DREAMS to a close!
This means we’re now in the interlude between the end of Chapter One and the start of Chapter Two. Let your muses mourn, because there’s more murder to come.
Thank you, from the SD mod team, for sticking with us. We’re positive you’ll love the chapters to come.
( P.S. For the interlude only, we’re opening apps to new members! Hurry, though, because this offer is only available for a limited time! )

“Enough with all of you being incompetent!” Yuzu finally snapped; watching them twiddle their thumbs was just damn annoying! She’d never assumed they’d be so stupid that they couldn’t figure out such an easy puzzle. No matter. Serena snaps her fingers and a gentle flash of light from each podium soon gives way to reveal small tablets.
Upon picking it up, you find that the tablet is simply a list of pictures of everyone in the room, sans the wardens. You tap a picture experimentally and find that it enlarges the picture and brings up a button with only the word ‘vote.’ You click out, scrolling past Yuri’s picture, which is grey and dark with a red X across it, and to your own. Clicking it reveals the ‘vote’ button is grayed out. Well, at least you can’t accidentally vote for yourself.
“Yuzu, we don’t have to—” Ruri starts, but Yuzu cuts her off with a glare.
“Now’s your time to vote...who killed the ice tiger?”
It’s time to play “who dun it!” If you think you know, you can go ahead and fill out this form to vote for them. Your vote cannot be changed, so vote wisely.
Put the URL/username of the muse voting (not the muse you’re voting for!) and check the muse yours wants to vote for.
You may only do this once per muse! Those with multiple muses should make sure their muses only vote once, so remember who’s voted so far.
The mods’ muses are not allowed to vote, so don’t expect our votes to sway the group towards the killer. If you get it wrong, it’s all on you. Vote wisely.
Voting will close on the 21st of October at 2pm Pacific Standard Time, and the trial will conclude. If you haven’t voted by then, tough luck, you had your chance.
We will tally the votes and announce the killer on the 21st or 22nd of October.
Good luck.

CURRENT TIME: 1130
It’s so unsettling, the knowledge that someone you were currently stuck in this hell with had murdered another. You want to say that it’s all a trick, a lie, but you can’t. It’s reality and you know you have to face it. You know your time is almost up, at least as the timer on your phone almost is. You nearly jump when your phone chimes and the holographic form of Yuzu appears from it.
“Hey, you’re almost done, yeah?” she asks, as if someone can respond to her. You know that no one can. “Good, good. The trial’s about to start, okay? So we expect everyone in the plaza at exactly 1200 hours. A fair warning to you: once you enter the trial, you aren’t leaving until it’s done and someone is convicted. Bring what you need as we will provide nothing. See you there.”
With that, Yuzu’s form disappears and the reality sets in. There’s nothing else to do but gather your things and head to the plaza. If you don’t...you fear the punishment. Pushing yourself off your bed, you grab one of the jackets issued by the general store, a nice black one, just in case it’s chilly. A few granola bars make it into your pockets before you head off to the plaza.
CURRENT TIME: 1200
You’re not surprised that everyone’s in attendance by the time the countdown on your phone hits zero. A gust of wind has you closing your eyes and when it’s gone, the wardens are standing in the middle of the crowd. Serena and Rin are stoic, Yuzu almost giddy and Ruri — well, you can’t pinpoint Ruri’s mood. She looks a little pale.
“Everyone’s here then?” Serena says, interrupting any thoughts. “Finally, I’ve been dying for us to get this show on the damn road for a while now.”
“Hush, Serena,” Yuzu chides with a giggle. She looks around at all of you with a devilish smile. “It’s time for your trial! Let’s get started!”
This time, Rin snaps her fingers and you’re more than aware of the strong gust of wind that comes down on you again, stinging your eyes until you close them and only open them again when it all died down. When you come to, you’re in the middle of what looks to be a courtroom mashed with a lounge. There’s enough podiums for everyone to have one, but it’s also filled with beanbags and chairs for comfort. At one end, you see all four wardens climb into large, luxurious chairs that nearly match their respective hair colors.
“You’re here to discuss the murder of Yuri Plisetsky...it’s time to start.”
TRIAL TAG: sd trial; monochrome dreams
TRIALS WILL BE ASK / THREAD BASED. This is due to the fact that everyone cannot get onto Discord at one time due to a variety of things. You are free to discuss the case on Discord but PLEASE DO ALL SIGNIFICANT THINGS ON TUMBLR SO EVERYONE WHO ISN’T PRESENT CAN STAY UP TO DATE WITH THE TRIAL. We’ll give you multiple days to fully form your opinions and cast a vote. We strongly, strongly encourage you not to jump to conclusions too quickly. Take your time. Think.
Jumping to the end, when you are READY to cast your vote for who you believe the murderer is, we will link a form, you will fill it out and we will tally the votes. If you get it right, you win. If you get it wrong…well, the person voted guilty will be punished…and one more thing.
Ruri, Yuzu, Rin and Serena will reveal pieces of evidence as the trial goes along that no other characters (except the murderer or the muse they’re calling out) would know about. Do with it what you will, but asking them to elaborate might mean you are in for a bad time. Take what they give you and theorize from it. That being said, there are several pieces of this case you are still missing. Give it time.
That being said, you may ask any of them to confirm or deny certain pieces of evidence and whether or not you are correct in your assumptions about something that happened. They may or may not answer you, depending on the question and their mood.
During the trial period, we STRONGLY suggest threading with the top suspects or sending them asks and questioning them about anything and everything. Remember, THE MURDERER IS ALLOWED TO LIE THEIR ASS OFF. Knowing what to ask the Wardens confirmation for and what to keep to yourself to bring up later is crucial, because there may or may not be inconsistencies that start to pop up…
The Wardens still will not confirm alibis unless they directly relate to them. If your character was asleep or unaccounted for, they are ON THEIR OWN.
Note: the Wardens may not help you at one point because they feel the evidence may end the trial too quickly; they will bring it back up eventually.
Do not make assumptions about the evidence/events. EVERYTHING IN THIS PORTION OF THE CHAPTER MUST BE CONFIRMED BY YUZU, SERENA, RIN OR RURI IN OTHER TO BE CONSIDERED THE TRUTH. NO ASSUMPTIONS ARE CONSIDERED TO BE CORRECT UNLESS A MOD SAYS SO.
You’re encouraged to thread among one-another and send asks back and forth. Communicate. COMMUNICATE. You’re seriously going to need to listen to every opinion and detail of this case, and the cases that follow. Ask characters who presented evidence to restate evidence; see if they remembered something else (confirm with a mod first if they DO remember something else).
We know we said we won’t handhold you, but no matter how confusing things get, trust that we will going to at least try to nudge you in the right direction at times, even though we might turn around and nudge you falsely later on here and there. We want you to succeed in this trial and we are your main resource here. Keep in mind we may be dropping clues even if you don’t realize it…PAY ATTENTION to the things the Wardens say, as well as points that the mod team’s muses bring up. While Rin, Serena, Ruri and Yuzu may be not allowed to lie, the mod team’s muses can.
Have mercy on us. While there are four of us, we can’t constantly be answering questions. You may have to wait a while for answers. We will get to you. Remember to pay the suspects and various witnesses plenty of attention too. (Note: suspects and witnesses, if you need help answering a question given to you by another muse, come to one of us in private messages.)
From here on out we are in the final section of Chapter One: Monochrome Dreams.
YOUR TRIAL BEGINS NOW.

"No, sorry.”
Dark Magician Girl gently shook her head with a frown on her face.

[ dograrnagra ] ' Miss Dark Magician Girl ! Has anyone bought anything weird from the store lately ? Like ROPE or CLEANING STUFF ? Maybe soap or some other kind of cleaner ! '
Dark Magician Girl thought for a moment before nodding her head in confirmation.
“Both of those items were purchased in the last few days by several different people. Unfortunately, I can’t give you an exact list of who bought what."

CURRENT TIME: 1145 HOURS
It’s been a few days, and honestly? You’re not sure it’s possible to stay up any longer. Between the sleep deprivation and the Wardens’ cruel punishment of spilling secrets, the entire population is an irritable chaos. The IMs are always an explosive place and everyone’s just hanging on the edge of a breakdown.
When Xiangsheng Magician pops up on your phone’s screen in a video call, you almost, almost wonder if the torture of being sleep-deprived is going to end. Sure enough, she greets you warmly but with a forlorn expression.
“Please report to the play structure south of Dorm One. You have fifteen minutes. Attendance is mandatory. Thank you!”
With that, her visage is gone.
You take your time getting to the play structure. You don’t want to rush and be greeted by anything too bad — though you quickly realize that it’s not possible. You have to choke back your disgust, forcing yourself to approach closer until you can see the body fully.
( Oh my God. Someone actually did it! )
You recognize the victim as Yuri from Dorm Two. You know him vividly for his sarcastic and explosive attitude in the IMs, but it’s surreal that he’s dead. His body is hung by the ankles and soaked in blood. You assume it’s from the multiple cuts that litter his body, torn through his clothes. You could almost say he had been tortured to death, but you wonder if it’s possible, considering how public the area is. How did anyone get away with this?
You’re snapped by your thoughts as the wardens clap their hands in unison, a loud sound that does nothing but startle you. You’re still paying attention now, though.
“Honestly, I can’t believe it took this long,” Yuzu tells the crowd, inspecting her nails and not meeting your eyes. She’s the definition of relaxed, and it makes you sick.
“We were starting to get bored!” Serena chimes in, looking over you with her hands rested on her hips defiantly. You hear a few people whisper but you can’t manage it. “Let’s not waste time. You have a body and now you have a killer to find.”
“The time frame is one day,” Ruri adds, and you feel a protest bubble in your throat. Others protest as well, but a select few seem to just accept it. How odd. “Xiangsheng Magician has been kind enough to update your phones to help you a bit in your quest. Xiang?”
You open your phone, noticing the new app on the home screen — Nature’s Notes. You resist the urge to snort as you open it, noticing the file titled Nature’s Notes: File 1. You open it to find a fairly organized list. Details of the murder, you soon realize. You don’t get to read anything before Xiangsheng Magician’s form is projected from your screen. It’s the first time you’ve seen her in a semi-real form but you can’t appreciate it.
“The Nature’s Notes app will help you when you are investigating a death. The list you see when you open a file is the immediate information your Wardens have gifted to you, such as the time of death and cause of death. If you swipe to the right on that screen, you will be taken to a blank page. Here, you may take down notes which will then be shared with all of your fellow prisoners. If you instead swipe to the left, you will see a private notes page. Please note that while other prisoners cannot see what you write there, the Wardens and myself can. Please use this responsibly or risk confiscation.”
You realize that you had been holding your breath as Xiangsheng Magician’s holographic body flickers out, and you look back to the Wardens.
“There are some more things you should know,” Rin tells you, looking fairly amused with the situation. “The only people you can expect to tell the truth are the four of us. We will not lie to you, but that doesn’t mean we have to answer you either.”
“The magicians can also help you but we do have guidelines for what they can and can’t tell you. They also are not permitted to lie to you,” Ruri adds. She isn’t looking you in the eyes and seems pretty quiet. What’s up with her? “How you collect and share evidence is up to you — also know that one of you is a murderer. That means that not everyone you talk to will be telling the truth. Be on your toes.”
“This shouldn’t be too hard,” Yuzu muses, a smirk on her face. “Finally, on the lock screen of your phone, you’ll see a timer. That’s how much longer you have to solve this. When it hits zero, you must report here to the plaza for your trial. Your time starts...now!”
Yuuya Sakaki ( @pendulumrisen )
Lucy Arisato ( @ceruleansniper )
Yuuri ( @sctsunai )
Yuri Plisetsky ( @lovagape )
Time of death was at 12:30 A.M.
The body was discovered at 11:25 A.M.
Cause of death is blood loss.
About the body:
There are numerous lacerations.
The body was found hung upside down by the ankles.
There is no chafing around the ankles.
There is a knife embedded deep in the side of the victim’s neck.
About the location:
The rope holding the body up is tied around the trunk to keep the body in place.
The scent of blood is strong in the area but not overwhelming.
There is very minimal blood in the surrounding area and most of it is found right underneath the body.
Nothing else seems out of place.
GOOGLE DOCS
You are free to ask Yuzu, Serena, Rin or Ruri any questions you may have. That does not mean they will answer you. ( It really depends on their moods if you’ll get a satisfactory answer. )
The four wardens are not the only people you can ask questions to, there are various NPCs that you can ask questions to as well.
Yuzu, Serena, Rin nor Ruri will confirm or deny your alibis unless they are directly linked to them/ involve their presence in some way.
ALL INQUIRIES SHOULD BE SENT TO THIS BLOG.
The investigation period is purely an evidence collection period. There are no special requirements / asks / whatever you have to send into us. You are left on your own to look over the evidence provided and put together what you believe is a motive, a murder scene, and a culprit.
The mod team will not help you here unless within reason ( read: confirming found evidence, witness accounts, etc. )
Do NOT inject your own evidence into the scene without asking a mod. If you have guesses to where items (such as weapons, clothes, etc) may be, you can ask one of the mods. Unless you get it right, we will not tell you or give you permission to find these items.
Once the investigation period is over (give it a few days to a week), you will collect all evidence and present it at the trial and duke it out with your fellow group members to either prove someone’s innocence or their guilt.
If a mod adds any evidence or if anything else comes to mind, we will post it to the tag. Same for if another muse discovers evidence. Do not rush us for responses to inquiries about evidence / etc. We will reply as quickly as we can!
PLEASE NOTE THE ONLY PERSONAL ACCOUNT OF EVENTS (SOMEONE SAYING THEY SAW SOMETHING / DID SOMETHING) THAT CAN 100% BE BELIEVED IS YOUR WARDEN’S. ALL OTHER CHARACTERS MAY OR MAY NOT BE LYING. YOUR WARDENS ARE THE ONLY ONES YOU CAN TRUST TO NEVER, EVER TELL A LIE.
