Third Year. Appropriation.

After many samples this craft paint was chosen to do the job of creating Braille. It’s glue-like texture and colour were a perfect combination to compliment The Mona Lisa. It took some time and a steady hand to develop the right pressure and application in order to arrive at a similar cylindrical size and shape.

Nadia was really friendly and an inspiration to talk to. I video’d her performance piece to show to exhibition frequenters who were not lucky enough to catch her in person.

These are the three painted and penned layers which created my final screen-print. I have eventually displayed this in mono as colour jars with my concept.

My black box for my Time-Based assignment is coming on. I bought black material to cover the unsightly, badly glued, cardboard boxes from Texcraft on Thursday and spent Friday attaching it. I then bought some thicker material from Mandors on Saturday. This is akin to blackout material. I’ll use it to drape over the entrance/exit for easy access. Once I have covered the light gaps and touched up unsightly areas with black paint I can move on to creating my own black-light markers and test them out.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I made the first of three perspex holders today. This one is for holding earphones.
I’m looking forward to the Sound workshop we have on Wednesday as I intend to incorporate sound effects inside the black box and will be able to gain some additional knowledge.
