I just started watching this show because the actor who plays Light in the Death Note Jdrama is in it. Seems pretty obscure, but I knew before checking that a) there would be tumblr content and b) this scene would be part of it. Tumblr never misses! Also, episode 1 was really good, and I'm excited to see where it goes.

It never even occurred to me that Light could be straight. I don't see it.

i genuinely think that death note is gay by design. if it isn't, you are left with light the heterosexual. you know he's as such because he constantly reaffirms this with elaborate rituals that he barely pulls off. he's disgusted by a model calling herself his girlfriend and the only person he connects with on the literal planet is another man, with whom he shares the only non-surveilled room at task force hq for two months. i don't need them to kiss on the page for me to know that it happened. there is yaoi everywhere for those with eyes to see

One of my favorite things about Gong Jun's portrayal of Wen Kexing is how he plays him with an innocence and a softness. Despite everything Wen Kexing has done, his inherent goodness always somehow shows in his face. It's interesting to watch Word of Honor and then watch Advance Bravely right after, as I did, because that soft quality is absent in how Gong Jun plays Xia Yao. He and the character are both younger in Advance Bravely, and there are many "babygirl" type scenes with Xia Yao that you would think would feel innocent, but he always comes across as an inherently harsher person. Just a random observation from a forever Wen Kexing apologist who adores his sweet, open face and excuses all of his murderous actions.
