My favorite crack headcanon about Abby is that she doesn’t actually exist. Frank Langdon is just a single dad of two under four and Abby is this made up character he uses to avoid questions/flirting, while also serving as a collective way to refer to the nanny and family members that help him with the kids. The ring is a prop which is why it doesn’t even fit right because he ordered it online so it wasn’t properly sized. It’s all working out fabulously in his opinion, until Mel King shows up at the Pitt and thinks he’s a devoted husband.

Thinking about how one of The Pitt’s central messages is that sometimes all you can do to support someone is to witness someone’s pain and decide to stay, even if it gets ugly or otherwise difficult to face.

Each character is saying, “Here I am. This is me at my worst.”

And then we see another character look at them and say, “I’m here for you. I care about you. I love you.”

We see this with Robby to Jack, Dana to Robby, Robby to Dana, Frank to Mel, Jack to Cassie, Dennis to Robby, Dana to Heather, Robby to Heather, etc. etc. They all reach out their hands to give and receive help, even though they all suck at asking for help! They do it because they all have love in their hearts! This is a show about love!
