It wasn’t rare to have guys -- or girls -- hitting on Sheri Holland. It was actually relatively normal. But never anything more. Her way of life often seduced her partners into wanting her as a friend, and nothing more. She was after all, an amazing friend. Going above and beyond for each and every one of them. But, in this moment she almost felt like possibly there could have been something. Anything. Shit, all the petite really wanted was for someone to ASK HER OUT. Just one date, was that too much to ask? 

Just as the two approached that moment where she thought maybe they’d invite her to get coffee or dinner-- A familiar voice picked up, and soon, her flirtatious friend was meeting the ground. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she just studied the man below her. Head shaking, brows knitting together and fear pulsing through her veins the doe-eyed girl looked to the source of this sudden brutality. 

“Bryce?! What the fuck! He wasn’t even doing anything!” She announced, her entire body beginning to stiffen as she crossed her arms. “You gonna just stand there now like a smug little jerk or are you gonna help me get him to the nurse or something because, I don’t think your mouth is suppose to bleed like that.”

This was so bizarrely out of character for Sheri. Normally she could get along with just about anyone; but being stuck in the vehicle with the man she knows the least about she couldn’t HELP but be a bit butthurt about the situation. Her smile never surfacing, and mind drifting to the other car. Truthfully, she came on this adventure because she hoped she’d be able to get close to the birthday boy himself. There was a pretty specific gift she wanted to give him. But, she feared her dreams would continue to be just that-- dreams.

This left the petite bitter, and caused MASON to bear the brunt of her personal misery. His words cause her anger to bubble, “I could, but I think that locking your windows is kind-of a douchey move.” She pressed, her tone faint. The moment she heard that click she began rolling the window up and down over and over trying to find the perfect spot... And possibly trying to be a bit more annoying. Hey, if SHE WAS GONNA BE MAD, he was too. MISERY loves COMPANY. “How much longer until we make it. Why are we even driving so far.”

“I guess I never really thought that far ahead.” She pressed, quietly with a meek and forced smile. Her brows knit together as she quickly shook her head, one hand lifting to gently run along the side of her face. “I don’t know anymore, I really don’t. I... want to too. You know? I’d probably love it I just, Stiles-- I don’t want you to throw your life away, because... of this. I don’t want you to feel like it’s your job, it’s... It’s hard to explain.”

The two were out, again, dress shopping. A broad smile on her features at the other’s compliment, she’s unable to stop herself. “Please, I bet if you put it on it’d be like, god damn.” She hummed, now standing before the three mirrors in the dressing room, examining each and every aspect of herself. But alas, the longer she gazed the dimmer the light grew within her gaze. Every girl had some issue with their own bodies, and Sheri’s was her chest, without a doubt. Why else would she wear sweaters every single day. 

Releasing a soft, defeated breath the petite turned on her heels and locked her gaze on Jess. A meek smile tugging at the corner of her lips as she gestured toward her back. “You mind unzipping me? I think I’m gonna go with the other one. Y’know, the black with the lace on the arms? I think it’s a better fit. This like... Look.” Cue the petite gripping at the extra material around her breasts. “Literally, like-- Wanna shoot myself. Maybe I should think about getting those chicken cutlet things, y’know, like stuffing but better.”

He watched as her brilliant smile faded as she thought over the words.  It was a look he was accustomed to when Mrs. Steinberg asked him to ‘help’ her French students with their conversational skills.  “It means 'romantic,” he explained.  "D'amour … is a contraction of 'de amour’ which translates to 'of love’.  A 'rendes-vouz’ is an appointment.   So a 'rendes-vouz d'amour’ is an 'appointment of love’, or … as you Americans like to say … a 'date’.“  His brows perked a bit curiously.  "It is my understanding of your culture that asking someone for coffee is a form of inviting someone you like for a casual date.  I apologize if I misinterpreted your question.”

When he began to explain it, as he slowly explained the words Sheri felt her entire body go flush as embarrassment ran through her veins. A quiet, awkward laugh fell from her lips as she quickly shook her head. One hand lifted to press to her lips in an attempt to hide her now amplified smile, Sheri felt herself become somewhat bashful. Which, was rare for the brunette. “No, no, no you totally got it. I just--” She laughed again, looking up to the ceiling as her hand dropped. “Sorry I haven’t really been on a date before. Most people just call it chilling, y’know. Hanging out. But-- I prefer date. Definitely.”

At the mere mention of Hannah, Sheri felt her fingertips and toes begin to grow numb. Her once so genuine smile faltering for a split moment before it’s replaced by her usual, fake half smile. Her eyes dimming and body tensing up only slightly as she crossed her arms. “Yeah, I know what you mean.” Her words faint as she shifted her weight onto one hip, gaze still locked on him. The way he looked at her, though, caught her entirely off guard. Cheeks beginning to burn, the petite attempted to laugh, her gaze drifting past him before falling to the ground. “Now, don’t go putting words in my mouth.” She hummed, not entirely denying him.
