❝ 'M not supposed to talk about it, ma'am, ❞ Caitie mumbles, fidgeting anxiously with her clothes to hide the scars that the agent had glimpsed and enquired about --- On her collarbones and shoulders, and more that are hidden under her clothing still. ❝ I ... FBI are kind of cops, right ? They told me not to tell any cops what happened. ❞

Caitie can afford Hannibal's therapy, in her "Hannibal" verse, despite her family being lower-middle class/poor, because after she and her girlfriend were attacked by local boys, including the mayor's son, the mayor gave her parents a lot of money in exchange for not pressing charges.

Caitie tends to wear jackets and sweaters that are too big for her. She likes the weight and the pressure of them, and often hides her hands in the sleeves. She sees the dense fabric as a sort of barrier or shield between the world and herself.

Verses:
MARVEL/SUPERPOWERS: Caitie has the ability to make herself unnoticed. Not invisible, she doesn’t disappear or anything, but unnoticeable. When she wants to, with enough focus, she can compel others to overlook/ignore her as though she isn’t there at all. Anyone who attempts to speak of or even think of her while she’s doing this will become distracted and forget what it was they were about to speak of.
HDM/DÆMON AU: Caitie's dæmon is named Alcaeus. He's a little bit of an anomaly, as he hasn't settled yet, despite Caitie being a teenager.
HANNIBAL: After Caitie and her girlfriend are attacked by a group of homophobic boys in their small town, her parents move her to Baltimore, Maryland to try to separate Caitie from the town and the trauma (It also separates her from her girlfriend, which makes Caitie even more miserable). They put her in therapy, but Caitie is reluctant to participate.

Caitie grew up in the tiny rural town of Norcross, Ohio. It's small enough to be officially classified as a village. She was pulled out of public school in fourth grade, due to harassment by her peers over her disability and her autism. She was homeschooled from that point on, and rarely left her house. During the summer she was sixteen, she decided to be adventurous and left home alone to go into town. She wandered into the local family-owned bakery and literally bumped into Mariana Esparza, the owner's granddaughter. The two of them bonded over their "outsider" status (Caitie being disabled and Mariana being the daughter and granddaughter of Mexican immigrants), and eventually fell in love.

shesheltered:
An important thing to remember: Caitie has glasses. Because of the intensity of her disability and strength of her prescription, her glasses are thick. I don’t have icons of my faceclaims in glasses, due to a lack of resources but they are always there. She will also, in addition, always be seen with a mobility cane, even if I don’t mention it in threads. If she is anywhere other than her own home, the cane will always be either in her hand or folded in her lap or bag if she’s sitting.

Caitie was born extremely premature, and developed a condition called retinopathy of prematurity, which caused her to lose vision entirely in her left eye and her depth-perception and peripheral vision in her right eye. All she can see is whatever is directly in front of her.
As a result of her prematurity, she was extremely sheltered by her parents, in a way that was not entirely healthy for Caitie.

❝ I just sweep it side to side like this, see ? ❞ She demonstrates with a small arc in the empty space before her, the roller tip of her white cane making a soft, barely-audible clicking as it moves against the ground.
❝ The vibrations help me sense what’s on the ground, so that if there’s something in front of me or blocking the way, I feel my cane touch it so I know it’s there and don’t walk into it and hurt myself. ❞
