Gabrovo-Tryavna, Kilifarevo and Lovech style sokays
The sokay is a traditional headpiece worn by married women in Gabrovo, Tryavna, Bozhentsi, Dryanovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Kilifarevo, Lovech and their surrounding villages. Contrary to what most people believe, the sokay was not part of the bridal attire. It was worn after the wedding, starting either on the first Monday or Wednesday after the wedding. It was passed down by mother-in-law to her daughter-in-law.
