For those of you who know nothing about American college sportsball:

tldr: Dan and Phil showed up and rooted for the the purple team (home team, underdogs), who beat the blue team (potential cheaters, ranked top 25). And that’s the power of gay British YouTubers!

Dan and Phil were supporting the University of Washington (UW, Huskies), who played against the University of Michigan (UM, Wolverines) in Seattle, WA (they were there for their tour).

This is a big deal because earlier this year, UM beat UW in the national championships. There was some controversy about this because UM was/is (idk THAT much abt football) engaged in a cheating scandal.

Now, if things were the same as last season, the Huskies and the Wolverines would not be playing each other now (in the regular season) because they were in different conferences. BUT, UW joined the conference UM is in this year.

SO, this game was a rematch, and a chance for UW to take “revenge” and redeem themselves (at their home stadium no less)

The odds were technically in the Huskies’ favor, but there was a lot of talk that the Wolverines would win round 2: electric boogaloo. Especially because UM is considered one of the top 25 teams in the US this year, and UW isn’t.

But UW won! By 10 points!Students stormed the field! All because Dan and Phil were cheering for them!! (Probably not but still!)

Plus: the band did a video game medley at half time! (That’s why there was that video on Phil’s instagram story). You should check out American university marching bands even if you don’t like sports!! They’re pretty impressive

Decorated holiday cookies last night and I had to represent two of the Characters of All Time. I also had to explain that they’re “from the DnD shows I watch” bc the one person who knows DnD stuff wasn’t there :(
