A/N: it’s like 2:30 am here but what’s new

School had gone as it always had. Flash and Jamie both bothering you to no end. It had been quite annoying and you were stretched thin. Alas, you had promised Ned, MJ and Peter to head over to a local little diner that was more of a hangout spot than an actual place to eat. You were sitting at the table, working on the chemistry homework you were assigned that morning. Ned sitting beside you reading a comic. Peter had gone off somewhere, the three of you not thinking much of it. 

“Hey YN, do you wanna split some fries? I’m starving,” MJ asked as she walked up to you and Ned. 

Nodding in response, you pointed towards the counter but before you could respond your eyes fell on a couple behind MJ. They were happily making out beside the pinball machine as they waited for food. Or maybe they were just loitering. Laughing between breaths. Slowly, their faces came into view and you took a step back. Jamie locked eyes with you and winked. Her and Peter coming over hand in hand. 

“Do you guys wanna catch a movie tonight?” Jamie asked, a smugness in her eyes. 

“I -” you tried to speak but nothing could come out. Your breath caught in your lungs and you took a step back. “I can’t breathe,” you murmured to MJ, trying not to hyperventilate. Trying to not let your powers get out of control. How could you have let this happen? You were reckless. On the verge of a meltdown. You needed to get out of there before you lost control of your magic.

MJ stepped in front of you, Jamie no longer in view. “What’s going on?”

You could only shake your head. Making sure you had your backpack, you headed for the door. “I have to go home.”

“Do you want me to walk you back?” Peter asked, taking a step towards you.

Shaking your head, you headed towards the door. You had to get out of there. You had to get away from him, from her. 

“YN, are you sure? Mr. Stark wouldn’t want you walking home alone,” Peter continued to try and let him help you but you only shook your head.

“I’m fine Peter. I’ll - I’ll see you later.��� Rushing out of the building, you pulled out your phone. Your hands wouldn’t stop shaking and you bit your lip nervously. “Come on, come on, pick up,” you muttered, picking up your steps to get home as soon as you could. 

“Hello?” Tony answered, the sound of music shutting off in the background.

“Tony, thank God. I need you to cut off Peter’s access to the compound. Security clearance, entrances, everything. Under no circumstances is he allowed access into the compound. To the computers, to FRIDAY, anything.”

“YN what’s going on? Is everything alright?” Tony asked, concern filling him. “Where are you right now?”

“I’m on my way home. Jamie got to him. If she’s controlling him-”

“She has access to us,” Tony finished for you. 

“You have to cut him off before she tries anything.”

“Already on it. Get home safe please.”

“See you soon. Love you.” Hanging up the phone, you weaved through the crowds and did your best to get home as soon as you could. Your chest hurt, your heart feeling like it had been stabbed more times than you could count. This couldn’t be happening. The tricky bitch thought she could weasel her way into your family through Peter. She really underestimated the power you and your uncle held. You and all the Avengers held. This was one fight you weren’t going to lose.

A/N: i’m SO sorry it has taken me months to post an update. College started to get rough with exams and then the pandemic happened and I got evicted from school and had to move home and I’m finally done with the semester and can relax a little bit. I hope you all enjoy the update! Let me know what you think! 

The ride to the compound was silent by your own design. The music from your speakers blasting and echoing out the open windows. You didn’t want to discuss your interaction with Jamie. You didn’t even want to think about her. So instead, you avoided it by drowning out all thoughts with the playlist your uncle had made you. And any thought Peter wanted to say would be equally drowned out. Pulling into the compound, you parked the car in the garage and shut it off.

“Y/N?” Peter asked, the second the music was shut off. “Are you okay?” 

“Mhm,” you hummed, grabbing your backpack and heading for the front door. “Just can’t stand Jamie is all.”

“Did she do something to bother you?” Peter continued to interrogate you, not fully understanding your hate towards her.

“Don’t worry about it. Come on, Tony and Bucky are waiting for us,” you replied, not waiting for Peter to follow you inside. 

“Hey kiddo, you’re back early,” Tony called as he saw you walking in, talking with Steve and Rhodey in the main hall. 

“Practice was cancelled today. Figured I’d come home and get some work done. Peter’s here too.”

“Oh good, I need his help on some suit designs.”

“I’ll head down for the lab now then sir,” Peter spoke, entering the compound now and walking past the group. You watched as Peter walked by and didn’t bother reacting as you nodded at the three men. “I’m going to go find Bucky so we can start training.”

Tony frowned for a second, watching as you made your way to the main living room. Turning back to the other two, he let out a sigh. “Something happened in that car ride,” Tony muttered, walking to the lab.

“I’ll go train with the other two and see what I can find out,” Steve called out to Tony as he made his way to the gym. 

Downstairs, in the gym, you and Bucky were stretching, talking nonsense. You had changed relatively fast so the two of you could get started. A knock on the gym’s door cut your conversation short and the two of you looked up to see Steve and Natasha walking in. 

“Hope you don’t mind us joining your training session?” Steve asked, giving that innocent smile that you could never say no to.

“Not at all,” you replied with a smile. “We’re still stretching so you’re just in time.”

The two nodded, joining you and Bucky in stretching. It was silent for a moment, something in the air seeming off. It wasn’t until Natasha spoke up did you realize they were worried about you. “I heard from a little spider that your car ride home was quite tense. Did something happen at school?” Nat asked, sitting on the ground next to you as she stretched her legs.

You were quiet for a moment. Not sure if you should tell them. What could be the harm really? They all knew your situation. They all knew Jamie. So why not tell them? It wouldn’t hurt to vent about your feelings before they bottled up inside and caused a meltdown. Swallowing the lump rising in your throat, you spoke up, “It’s just… this whole Jamie situation is getting to me today. I was already on edge this morning with running late and to see her waiting at my locker just pissed me off. Not to mention her trying to control Flash and then trying to hang out with Peter and I after school as if we’re friends still. As if she isn’t the reason why my life fell apart.”

“Ah, so little miss mind controller isn’t leaving you alone,” Bucky muttered, standing up as he finished stretching. 

“I’m worried that the more she tries to get closer, Peter will end up getting hurt. What if she manages to control him? I don’t -” shaking your head, you let the rest of the sentence die off. What were you even trying to say? Standing up alongside Bucky, you looked down at the other two. “Well come on, shall we start training or we going to sit around and gossip like children all afternoon?” 

Steve and Nat shared a concerned look but let it go for now. Letting you ignore everything else and train with the three. That’s what you needed more than anything right now. If you admitted your feelings, if you admitted how much it might hurt if Peter falls under Jamie’s control, you might never be able to keep going.
