shiloh listened intently to her words, and the more she spoke the more shocked his expression became. "duuuuuude," he started out, eyes wide while he looked at the woman. without really thinking too much of it, he turned in his seat so one knee rested on the couch, in order to face her better, his drink long forgotten. "if we're in a simulation... like sims 4 or something, with people controlling our actions... that'd be freaky," he continues, building on to her words. "maybe that's why i keep burning my grilled cheese and walking into walls. it's because my player doesn't know how to play the game...." shiloh drifts off while thinking it over, his brain about to explode from the idea the woman had put forth. "i love and hate that idea all at the same time," he says on a chuckle. "i'm shiloh by the way," he nods while reaching out his hand. "woah, imagine if the players want us to meet? is it fate? is it a simulation? we'll never know."

typical of her to be immersed in her self-absorbed little bubble, the company beside her went unnoticed. a glowing device attached to her hand and a thumb vigorously swiping to refresh her feed. her matcha latte cradled in the other hand, ice clanked against the plastic cup as she swirled it so often. it takes a moment for the other's inquiry to register, the brunette's head tilted like a confused puppy as mousy optics peered away from her phone. "huh?" although ridiculous, the question captured her attention, causing her to place her phone on her lap. "i've never thought about that. do you think they dream at all? i hear some people don't." fingers shimmy her straw inside her drink before taking a slow sip. "a better question is, do you think we even exist? i feel like this is one huge simulation, you know? like a videogame or something."

sitting in one of the comfortable couches at common grounds, shiloh sipped on a cup of coffee, deep in thought before wincing once the liquid touched his tongue. he hissed before placing the cup back on the low, coffee table in front of him, waiting for it to cool off. "do you think blind people can see their dreams?" he randomly asks the person sitting at his side, as his head tilts to the side to look at them. it was what he'd been thinking about, and he felt the need to get another person's input on the matter at hand. shiloh had never claimed to be smart and his ponderings tended to escape him unfiltered, and at the worst times, this time being no different. / @ashford-extra

( my apologies for the length of this again. if you read through the entire thing then here's a gold star! ⭐ you're amazing )
TW: adhd mention, sports injury, depression
CHILDHOOD
shiloh was the firstborn of four siblings, the other three being girls, who was raised by a pair of high school sweethearts. his parents were always sickeningly in love, but despite finding it gross when they kissed, he knew he was lucky to have both his parents and that they were still together. for as long as he can remember he's had a ball by his feet, kicking it around and when his parents signed him up for soccer when he was 8, he instantly loved it. he hasn't stopped playing since.
TEENS
throughout his schooling, it became clear that shiloh wasn't the brightest crayon in the box. it wasn't that he couldn't read or write or learn, but he seemed to have a strange idea of how the world worked. his teachers would call him a slacker when he was unable to concentrate, talked a mile a minute and constantly bounced around in his seat, but the summer before high school he was diagnosed with adhd. the medicine calmed him some and he became a decent student, but he never fully understood how things worked. was popular all throughout high school, known as the class clown and the jock. he was granted a soccer scholarship and attended college and was allowed to play soccer at a boston college, while living at home.
20s
shiloh graduated college with a degree in history with a sucky gpa. but it didn't matter, because after graduation he was drafted by the new england revolution, a major league soccer team. he loved it because it allowed him to stick close to home, while doing what he loved. at twenty six he suffered a career ending injury, that caused him to have to retire from the team. he returned back to ashford and aimlessly lived on his parents couch for a while. with no idea who he was without soccer, shiloh lost some of his outgoing personality and fell into a bit of a depression. it took him two years to move out of his parents' house. they and his three younger sisters were what got him through the whole thing.
NOW
after moving out on his own two years ago, shiloh has become more himself again. he's happy-go-lucky, never shy to make a funny comment. he at times goes to the soccer field by the local high school and shoots around a ball, reminiscing. but all in all he's much better. he has a life he loves, with working at the diner and hanging out with friends, but he still is going through a bit of an identity crisis as he doesn't know where he's going next.
PERSONALITY
shiloh isn't always that bright, but he's always had a way with people. he's rarely seen without a smile or heard without a funny comment from his lips. at times he's a bit lost, but he never lets it truly show. there are very few people who know he still suffers from bouts of depression because he's good at hiding it. shiloh's often all over the place, especially without his adhd meds that he tends to forget taking. some call him chaotic, but he doesn't mind.
HEADCANONS
has a few small, random tattoos, one of which is a tornado because his parents' nickname for him was tiny tornado when he was a kid.
spends a lot of time around people, because that's how he thrives best. has a small studio apartment but hates spending time there alone. which is why it's barely decorated.
plays a lot of video games, as that's what he did a lot while dealing with his depression. it allowed him to immense himself in a different world and it's a hobby he's kept up with.
works out, not just to stay in shape but to keep his leg healthy after he had surgery on it.
