Yeah - most of the otherkin and therians I know are 21+, and many are over 30. It's definitely not unusual, though it might depend on where you look.
One of my biggest struggles that held me back from rejoining the online therian community is my age. I am 26 now and eventhough that number isn't the end all be all (i definitely act more teenage-ish than the average 26 y.o) i am still very much aware that I can't interact with just anyone on the internet anymore. Dont get me wrong, I honestly wouldn't want to either because it just wouldn't be okay morally. But I do really hope that there are more older therians out there and that I'm not alone out here. Because if I am, I will be quite sour about the years I've waisted trying to be 'normal and blend in', whilst I could have had so much more fun just being myself and making friends along the way.
would you love me if my bestial form had no remnant of human expression? if my face was unreadable, stoic, if the signifiers of personhood were gone? if i crawled on all fours, if my spine was hunched, if i didn't just bark and purr but chuff, snort, snarl? is monstrosity good when it isn't palatable? how much inhumanity can you tolerate?
i still hate y’all bitches who say oc x canon shit is cringe like bitch you have ANY idea how flattered i would be if someone made an oc for my fantasy world? how utterly PSYCHED my ass would be they loved a character so much they fleshed out one themselves just 2 be with one of mine? fuck y’all haters
ordered pizza from a small local place and they didnt actually cut it so i've chosen to revert to a wild animal and begin ripping it apart instead of just using a knife to portion slices
duuuuude i want horns so fucking bad. can you imagine the amount of customization you could get into with those. you could paint them. get stuff engraved into them. if they get chipped or scratched well thats kinda sexy as hell. you could hang stuff from them. bedazzle them. cap them with jewelry. put silly banz on them. get a different pattern or color for each segment if theyre kinda like ram horns. polish them. can you even imagine. can you
[Image description: A cartoon of three mythological creatures holding up a giant clipboard. The stack of papers on the board have the symbol for therianthropy, which is made of the Greek letters theta and delta interlaced. The papers say, “Therian survey! Let’s hear from your voice!” The canine psychopomp named Page Shepard (@who-is-page) explains, “It’s separate from our otherkin survey!” The chimera, named House of Chimeras (@liongoatsnake), holds up a pencil with their snake tail, and says, “For our book on alterhumans!” The dragon named Orion Scribner (@frameacloud) is me, I drew this illustration. We are writing a book about alterhumans, and you can be part of it! We want to hear from therianthropes in particular for this part: the Therian Community Survey, which asks about your theriotypes, experiences, and how you personally define therianthropy. It’s about ten minutes long, open to anyone physically at least eighteen years old who identifies with the label “therianthrope.” One response per physical body, please.

Sad and a bit frustrating that most 'nonhuman tips!' posts can be boiled down to 'buy things! buy things! buy things!'. not everyone can or wants to spend money on gear/decor
Man I fucking hate how people on this site think Calvinism is the default for Christianity and Christian theology.
Like I'm gonna pull my hair out. Guys, guys, come with me to medieval Christianity where we had *ninety* FEAST DAYS A YEAR and where REFUSAL to ENJOY God's creation was a MORTAL SIN.
Puritan ideas about humanity being separate from the world and all physical pleasure being sinful weren't the fucking norm please guys I'm begging you...
(not that suffering was seen as negative 100% of the time, and fasting was absolutely part of the faith but not everyone was expected to live like a monk who took a vow of poverty. Also wait until I tell you that like, 80% of cheeses we have now were invented at monasteries and that often, rich youngest sons were sent to live at monasteries bc it they weren't Franciscan (iirc) life was pretty fucking sweet for a monk!)
the concept of a "zine" makes more sense now that I actually have seen paper ones. But how does it work? Do you copy them and put the copy somewhere else to propagate them? And I hope someone is archiving these things somewhere?
