stoned and autistic at a party trying to make conversation: I find the comparative lifespan of organisms so interesting. Spiders are comparatively long lived animals. Female black widows can live up to 3 years but their male counterparts rarely live four months. Some tarantulas live upwards of 20 years. The longest lived spider was around 43 years old when she was cruelly assassinated by a parasitic wasp. Domestic rats have a lifespan comparable to female black widows. To put things into perspective, there are spiders that remember a pre-pandemic world but it is likely every rat on earth was born post-COVID. There could be a spider out there born when Reagan was in office.

I got hired part time and they told me they were trying to make the role full time, but if that didnt happen I could apply internally in 6 months

Turns out

The role will not be full time any time soon (not this fiscal year atleast)

And internal applications won't be available for me for a year

So I can't even move up in the company unless im here for a year????

It pays good so I'm staying for the time being but this is so upsetting. Just no regard for any financial plans I had.

Friendship related vent oops

Been holding onto this for a while if im honest.

Last time ive spoken to my high school best friends was January when I told them I was moving. It was very sudden but we'd been very low contact for a while so I didnt have many chances to bring it up.

Since I got a partner they've barely spoken to me or wanted to hang out with me. Is it cause I bring my gf along all the time? Maybe but im not leaving her alone at my parents house to go hang out with my friends... (we'd visit family and sometimes see them in the process) I only lived 2 hours away and despite the fact I visited them in college a few times they never once showed interest in visiting me. No questions about my apartment. No questions about my job. No interest in what hobbies I was doing. Nothing.

The hangouts were getting less and less often and they got busy with work and I felt less wanted so I didnt ask until last minute and here we are. Not really talking anymore.

I've tried a few times to get everyone to know my gf and do fun things together, playing splatoon, doing art collabs, recommending things, just chatting, but it never really amounted to anything.

I guess im just frustrated that while at times I felt like a third wheel in their friendship i still felt appreciated and enjoyed, but after all that ive just become an outsider to them. I really was just a third wheel that they got comfortable around and now that im gone they dont have to communicate with. Like good for them I guess.

They never did participate in my interests the same way I participated in theres. I read Homestuck for them. I cosplayed for them. I had my mom bring us to a con for them. Yes I had fun, but they never once participated in something cause I brought it up it was always what they were interested in. If I dont conform I dont get to talk to them I see that now. I dont play the game they play? No more talking.

Im just tired...

I have some good friends right now but struggling to open up more to them cause so many of my friendships have faded like this. No big fights no drama, just a silent flicker that ends with my feeling lonely again. Makes me feel like people dont actually like me if im that easy to never contact again...

Autism and loneliness have a high connection and it makes a lot of sense. Truly feeling like a friend to people is so difficult for me. The other day someone called me their best friend and.... I really do love and appreciate them but I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that they see me in a similar light? At work I dont talk to anyone cause I can't seem to figure out the dynamic, then someone says something to me and I'm like wh...

Anyway... if you read this uhhhh... thanks for acknowledging me.
