Lorna didn’t know the rumours surrounding Wanda Maximoff. She knew the other was powerful, a mutant. But she knew next to nothing else. So it was odd that the electro-magnetic signature of the other seemed familiar. For now, however, she pushed that to the back of her mind. She wouldn’t think about it, couldn’t spare the energy right now. “Mutants and tragedy. Seems inevitable.”
There was a promise in Wanda’s words, her claim that she wasn’t here as an Avenger. And it was a promise Lorna would hold her to with no hesitation. She nodded, accepting that as explanation. “No. It’s okay. I’m just a little touchy right now.” She didn’t offer an apology with her own explanation, just a tight smile. “What’s the reaction been like in New York?” she asked. She hadn’t been back to the city except to see Rictor. Lorna certainly hadn’t stuck around to see what the collective feeling was from humans and other non-mutants.
Tumblr media
☱ 𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑎 𝑚𝑖𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑙𝑒,
She could see it clearly. The energy around the other practically sang to her... familiarity almost as if finger tips brushing across her cheeks. It was rare to see which only makes it harder to decide if she’d like to admit the truth of why she came in the first place; or rather why she hadn’t come sooner. “You speak the truth,” Wanda admitted, wondering if she needed that. To be reassured, to know she wasn’t alone, to know... her pain was felt? It’s hard to grieve someone’s loss if you don’t know them but when you’ve been through similar things, it’s easier than you’d think. It seems most mutants all share some sense of pain. If only that could unite them rather than pull them apart. “but also a shame.”
Wanda had a sort of trust to her. A naivety some hoped she grew out of and some wished they could exploit. She didn’t come here to fight, and in some way she hadn’t even come for answers, but rather see how everyone was living in this part of the world. “Why do you care?” Because if Hydra had, had it’s way, this might be the world she called home. This version anyway. Wanda thought everyone deserved a chance, even herself. “When my brother died, I shut myself away for a while.” she admitted, rocking back and forth on her heels, “I think you’re a stronger woman than I am.” Snappy or touchy, Wanda could see the positive side of being out in the world right now even if it’s this part specifically. Wanda believed the residents needed to find a point not to start over but to continue. “Split it seems.” she admitted quietly, eyes moving over the memorial for a moment. “I think they’re relieved but still afraid... but most of them are human and have never known the fear mutants have. They always fear what they don’t understand.” And yet Wanda? Wanda appreciated Magneto’s sentiment but perhaps not the way he went about it.
“I’m Wanda Maximoff,” she decided to add before looking back to the other. Since she’s not here as an Avenger, she was here as herself. Some didn’t know this aspect of Scarlet Witch. She was just Wanda. “I know your name but I’d rather meet you.” If that made any sense to the other? Perhaps in Wanda’s mind, she doesn’t know any better. “I like meeting people.” Of course you could say that shouldn’t extend to whom someone has called a villain but she had been on that side and she knew... she knew Lorna Dane was more than just Magneto’s daughter or a member of The Brotherhood. Tony’s really going to ground her this time, isn’t he? “Could I buy you lunch, maybe?” Never mind that the sun is setting. She’s never quite been one for normality. Wanda wraps her jacket tighter around herself as a chill rolls in. “Or coffee?”

avengingwidow:
Natasha’s brow raised, arching carefully as she watched Wanda. At first, there was no readable expression, blank eyes, and no twitch at her mouth, just a brow that raised as Wanda raised her own question. “If you have to ask, maybe it should be.” The firm expression on her face shifted though, melting away towards something warmer for Natasha.
It had been too long since Natasha had seen any of the other Avengers, and just as long since she had truly spoken to them. After Germany, she had stayed with Steve and the others in Wakanda for a time, but Natasha had never done well sitting on her hands for long. And after a year there, she was packing a bag with a few words of goodbye before she started running through Russia and other parts of Europe, tracking down even whispers of Hydra, trying to stomp them out before they got their footing again. But while that had given Natasha a sense of purpose, it didn’t do much for the relationships she had formed in the years leading up to that.
(And Wanda was so young. And had been through so much — and much of that had happened during her time as an Avenger.)
“You didn’t know I was here.” It wasn’t a question. Wanda had been distracted and Natasha wasn’t sure by what… but they had gone over this lesson before. “Looking over your shoulder needs to be second nature,” she reminded, her tone softening as she came up next to Wanda and sat beside her. Lagos. That was where she had set it. Felt like a lifetime ago now. “I know we’re not much of a team anymore, but you need to keep your skills sharp.”
Tumblr media
☱ 𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑎 𝑚𝑖𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑙𝑒,
It’s obvious that she was distracted. Wanda didn’t need the reminder... but she also did need the reminder. She’s been so consumed in her thoughts that she hasn’t been outside herself, paying attention -- though here? Maybe she hadn’t thought there was a need when she felt safe. She knew Natasha would argue that’s exactly why she needed to pay attention. Being safe in your surroundings can get you, and those you fight with, hurt. Wanda wondered if that’s what Pietro thought. I’M FAST, I CAN DO ANYTHING. Being fast didn’t make him bullet proof. She never thought of a world without him in it until he was gone. Now, she’s reminded that if she’s distracted, her friends could be gone too.
“I’ve been waiting for you,” but she was distracted, there’s no denying that. She hadn’t expected Natasha back for a few days. Things are always changing, including plans. “I’d like more lessons from you.” No offense to Steve and Clint but they weren’t women. They didn’t necessarily have the same vulnerabilities or skills women would have or need. She admired her, and maybe in a way, feared her. Natasha was one of the best skilled fighters; who wouldn’t be afraid? The best part, however, is that she had a chance to learn things from her.
There were other things she needed, sure, things the Avengers might not be able to teach. Her mind? Was more so distracted by the fact that Magneto was dead too. Missed chances, missed connections, missed everything. She just needed to find a way to put it past her.
“You are,” Wanda paused as if to find the correct words in English, “most likely not to hold back.” She admired everyone, really. All their stories, all their struggles, they’ve led them here and elsewhere. There were things each of them could offer but she still wondered if perhaps they treated her with kid gloves. All that time spent in captivity? Maybe she was still a kid in some aspects but Wanda wanted to move past that. “I respect you for that.” she admitted, looking over at her. Her friend, that much she could say, even if Natasha was more likely not to say such a thing out loud. The little smiles were enough. “I’m having an issue they might not understand.” Not exactly. Clint was human, just like Natasha, but it was something else. Steve was human but he wasn’t too. There were whispers about Natasha too. “I don’t know how to explain it but I need your help, Natasha.”

wonderborn:
“You’re right, Ra was the God of Sun.” Diana sighed, “Unfortunately the object relates to Sekhmet; Goddess of War,” and healing, but the amazon doubted whoever had taken the object was intending to use it for the second purpose. At this point, she wasn’t even sure what it could do…but she was sure it had something to do with gaining control somehow.
“And not just when it comes to the gods,” She joked, agreeing with Wendy, “Mankind never fail to surprise me with how complicated they make everything.” A little laugh bounced off the bookshelves as she began scanning the row level with her eyeline.
“If I only I knew, possibly something along the lines of ‘powerful relics’ or similar. At this point I’d be grateful for the smallest amount of information.”
Tumblr media
☱ 𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑎 𝑚𝑖𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑙𝑒,
Wanda had pity for her. It sucked when you needed answers but didn’t have any no matter how hard you tried to find them. In Wanda’s case, she probably hadn’t tried hard enough. If Magneto was truly her father, she hadn’t tried hard enough and now she’d never get the chance to try. To ask. To figure out if all those rumors she had heard were true... HEY, I’M WANDA AND YOU MIGHT BE MY FATHER. Great opening except Wanda wasn’t sure what she’d do with the information if he was. What could he give her that her mother and father hadn’t given her? If he was her father, he was Pietro’s too and Pietro was dead. Then what? Then she’d have more guilt for not being able to save her brother... his son. Then what?
“Is there a small possibility it could relate to Freyja? From Norse mythology of course.” It’s what she’s asked Thor that she knows, and some bits sprinkled in here and there. “I’ve heard tales that most myths often tie in with others but I haven’t seen any validity to the claims. I know Thor,” Wanda admitted before adding, “and Loki have been on our world.” It wasn’t hard to miss when New York still felt the rumbles from that fight. Some cracks were harder to fill, much less fix entirely.
Wanda gave a little smile. It was true, in a way. Humans make everything difficult. Wanda knew that humans would always fear what the didn’t understand. Case in point, a mutant duo snatched from the only parents they had ever known. One was fast and was weird. Guess who she was? The only reason they weren’t killed then was because they had something to offer. Something to steal, more likely. If they couldn’t understand them, they’d use them as weapons. “That they do.” she admitted before moving to straighten her posture.  “I might know a few people who know relics but your particular relic, I’m not sure. They’re scientists but they don’t tend to stop until they have answers.”

wonderborn:
“I like it,” she smirked, soaking in the feel of the room even more. It had that quintessential magical feeling that bookshops were meant to have. Ever since she’d been a child playing in the great library on the island, she’d found solace in books when her Mother denied her training. In the pages written by the greats she could be battling creatures of myth and legend one minute, and having adventures across the great sea the next…little did she know eventually those would all come to her in reality.
“I’m Diana,” she smiled, her attention divided between the books and Wendy. “I work at the museum, actually. We have an Ancient Egyptian exhibit opening soon, and I was wondering if you had any books on this.” She held out her phone, on it was a photo of the stolen artefact she’d been trying to track down. “It is said to hold great power, imbued by the Gods,” she managed a false laugh in an effort to cover up her fear it might be true and that now this power was in the hands of people who didn’t understand it; or worse, knew exactly what to do.
Tumblr media
☱ 𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑎 𝑚𝑖𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑙𝑒,
It hadn’t been something she expected believe it or not. When she rest in that cell, held captive by Hydra, she never thought she’d be here reading books and helping people find them in turn. She never thought there would be more to four walls and those who occupy it. Even on a slow day, she’s never truly alone when words came to life in her mind. She had heard of fairytales, though hers had been violent tales not yet mixed for the big screens. In the stories she had heard, the heroes didn’t win. Ariel didn’t get her prince, the step sisters in Cinderella sacrificed parts of themselves for a prince who would never love them, and the tales went on worse from there. She found parts of home she’d never physically have back in the confines of this shop, and as much as the voices in her head told her it would never work out, she was determined to have as much as a life as she could while she could.
“It’s nice to meet you, Diana.” Wanda had done as much research as she could. It wasn’t the norm these days to say such a thing but she knew her dya would scold her if she didn’t. It’s followed by a nod in greeting, also not the norm, but Wanda couldn’t help it. “I’ve visited a few times. It’s lovely,” Wanda admitted. Her eyes move to look at the phone and the artifact housed inside. The pixels couldn’t of done it justice. “Truly?” Curious and curiouser. “We have a section on Egypt that could possibly help.” Moving from behind the counter, she pointed out the way while marking to her memory to ask the others about later. If it was important, or could cause trouble later on, it’s definitely something to look into. “When you say gods, do you mean like Thor and Loki?” she questions innocently enough but knows better. There was the event so it’s not so secret anymore. “Or... Ra, right?” Wanda wasn’t truly versed on Egyptian mythology but having a god to ask questions to helped. “I’m not familiar with the mythology but if I remember correctly, Agnostics believe everything could’ve spawned from the same thing. Man’s ability to tell something correctly is extremely flawed.” The point? She wasn’t sure she had one by the time she spoke the thoughts out loud. Wanda stopped in front of the section she had been leading to; two tall bookshelves up to the ceiling worth. “I’m going to assume you know where to start because it sure beats me.”

@shirazwitch
“Wow.” Diana let her hand run along one of the tall shelves housing thousands of books. “I haven’t seen a room like this in a long time.” It was old, surprising that a building this old would have withstood all the chaos the city had faced in the last few decades. And yet here it stood, a beautiful redhead behind the counter. “Have you worked here long?”
Tumblr media
☱ 𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑎 𝑚𝑖𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑙𝑒,
She knew it to be a risk, working so out in the open like this but she had enjoyed it -- even with those whispered voices in the back of her head. It’s a risk. Can she handle it? She’s spent more time in a cell! Wanda’s eyes twitched ever so slightly before flicking over to a title lining a book’s spine. She could handle it, she thought. There’s a need for open spaces even if they’re crowded with books and the occasional person checking them out. It’s not hip, or whatever the kids these days would say, but she liked it. It helped her learn English and potentially look up stories she’s long since forgotten from her childhood.
Wanda looked up at the voice and smiled, “It has strong bones,” she mused, eyes moving from the woman to the surroundings before back again. It wasn’t just energies she could seem to see around people but she saw it in places as well. A feeling, or an emotion, of comfort she sought. Here in this room of old books, she felt a comfort she never thought she’d feel again. That’s not to say she didn’t feel comfort with her friends, this was just an older feeling. “I’ve only been here a few months now but I think I know my way around well enough if you need help with anything? Or even title suggestions.” There was something about the woman also. Something so familiar yet she can’t put a finger on it. It’s there, around her, floating so freely in the air. “I’m Wendy.”

@kxtherinepryde / Is that how families work?
She’s not the best person to ask how families work. Her sense of the word was never traditional. For as long as she could remember, Pietro had always been there. Padre and dya were there... but it seemed those memories were fading faster than she’d like for them to. Their smiles, she wished she could hold onto them forever. She wondered if she’d begin to forget her dya’s recipe for tea. She wondered if she’d ever find one of her padre’s dolls. Perhaps not special to today’s youth but she could remember the stories he told her and Pietro as they’d drift off to sleep. Wanda hoped that if she had one, she wouldn’t forget his stories. Her fingers tug at the bracelet around her wrist, fabric from the shirt Pietro wore when he died saving Clint’s life. It was the only way she could carry something physical of him with her.
She considered the Avengers family in little and big ways. Even though they accepted her, she feared that one day they might not. By no means were they meant to accept her forever if they choose not to... and she feared the day they didn’t. “I think so,” Wanda admitted, “I doubt they’re supposed to blow up your home every few years... but it’s been done.” Whether largely or little. “They’re mostly supposed to love you no matter what. You carry them with you no matter what.” Whether you’re by yourself or with them, they’re always there. Some more than others, ghosts or physical. “I just don’t want to forget any of them, yeah? Because... I can feel some of them slipping.” Whether it was her padre and dya or not. “Isn’t it worse to forget them rather than not have them at all?”

@toofxstfool / Is that how families work?
Wanda paused with thought. Her family had never been traditional by any sense of the word, no. For as long as she could remember, she had always had Pietro. He was her better half and now without him, she could almost see clearly. ALMOST BEING THE KEY WORD. “Maybe,” Wanda mused softly, imagining the Avengers somewhere at the moment, gearing up for some tussle or training. There’d be some wise cracks and tension but later on, they’d watch movies or drink, and forget the day for a while. The days ahead, they didn’t matter while everyone was together in those few hours. “but I think families are whom you choose, not necessarily just those who share blood. My padre and dya would say they’re family because... because I’m safe with them and they expect nothing in return for caring.” Wanda had known, believe it or not, that they weren’t her biological parents. They had different features, didn’t eye colors, different skin colors; and they loved her and her twin just the same. It was her fear, and hers alone, that made her give pause.
She feared who she could be if she willed her powers just an inch to the left, or if she slept and somehow her powers acted without her will. In some ways, she thought they could see that. SHE FEARED THE POWER INSIDE HER, just as the men who had captured her had. They called her freak and miracle like it was something bad. The internal struggle was always whether it was or not. “If the people who gave you life don’t treat you the same, find those who will. You don’t have to settle.” Wanda assured him. “And if you have that, you’re a lucky one too.”

mistressxfmagnetism:
Lorna snorted under her breath at that. “Yeah, no, it’s about twenty years too late.” She placed the smooth stone in her hand at the base of the memorial before straightening up to look at the stranger. Or, rather, not quite a stranger. Lorna recognised her vaguely. One of the Avengers. Not as prominent as Stark or Rogers, but an Avenger nonetheless. Lorna made a point to be able to recognise them; especially given their antagonism with the X-Men. Even with her issues with Scott and Jean right now, Lorna found herself aligned closer with the X-Men than the Avengers most days.
“It’s too late for both of them now,” she muttered, looking at the memorial. It wasn’t his grave–she’d organised that, but not this one–but it was a tribute to Erik regardless. Lorna felt like people judged her for wanting to pay tribute, but they could all get screwed. None of them were complaining when Erik was winning them an island, winning them freedom. Lorna knew he wasn’t perfect–his crimes were impossible to forget despite what some people seemed to think of her–but he wasn’t evil.
“What does an Avenger want here?” she asked finally, not taking her eyes from the memorial.
Tumblr media
☱ 𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑎 𝑚𝑖𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑙𝑒,
Wanda looked at her for a moment as if she wanted to say something but she ended up pursing her lips in a HUH before offering her apologies. “That’s a shame,” Her voice is soft though her heart hammers deeply in her chest. She knew what the rumors were, more or less, but she doesn’t see much familiarity in the other than perhaps the static electricity that danced around the other’s body. An aura? Perhaps the would would best be described as energy body. It could be argued a familiar sense of the other being a mutant though. “It seems a lot of us share the sentiment.” Whether their parents were dead or out there somewhere, living.
Her shoulders sank a few inches and Wanda tried to find an answer somewhere within herself. “I’m not here as an Avenger,” she finally answered, something of some unspoken promise. “but as a mutant.” Wanda admitted. There it is. Bruce was mutated in a way but he did it to himself, accident or not. He hadn’t the knowledge of always being a mutant. Maybe she’d ask him when she saw him again... but maybe not. He was harder to speak to in some ways. She feared he might fear she’d sneak into his mind. “If that’s not okay, I can leave.” she added in some sense of white flag surrender. She understood that with alignments, it might still be considered a threat to be so involved with the Avengers if you might be against them.

@glxrious-purpose / Well aren't we fancy.
Wanda had been trying new things these past few months. Baking, cooking, learning the lay of the land... It wasn’t as fancy as he thought, or pretended it was, in her mind but it was better than the rot and bare minimum she had been served while she was locked away. The tea pot had been a necessity in Wanda’s mind. She wasn’t even sure who had purchased it truth be told. It was just there one day and every day since then, Wanda’s put it to use. In fact, the tea was probably the most loved thing out of the array of dishes and drinks on the table. It was brewed in only such a way that someone remembering HOME and FAMILY could.
“Don’t tease me,” Wanda grumbled, watching him. She knew who he was, believe it or not, but Wanda? Wanda had a special belief in people deemed too dangerous for this world --- whether it was correctly placed or not. “just tell me what you think.” Yet as she said that, Wanda had a flash of a story her dya read to her long ago. It almost reminded her of Alice in Wonderland; yet was the other the Mad Hatter or was she? Wanda blinked away the image before her leg started shaking up and down. “Martha Stewart raved about it.”

She wasn’t convinced Clint didn’t have something to do with this... but she wasn’t convinced he did either. Wanda was happy to be invited somewhere sure but half way through the tour of the American Museum of Natural History she realized Kate might not actually want to be there. “Did you just do that to a dinosaur?” she asked though she can’t stop the laugh that follows. “We don’t have to stay if you don’t want to, Kate. I’m not an old woman.”

@mistressxfmagnetism / I have a lot of unresolved issues with my mother.
Tony would ground her and she knew it. Maybe he had every reason to between saying she had to work when that was a lie, and the fact that instead of going to work, she wandered in the direction of the Brotherhood. Clint wouldn’t ground her but he’d definitely be questioning her [AND IF HE GOT DEEP ENOUGH, HE MIGHT UNDERSTAND]. Steve? Well, this seemed to be something she couldn’t pinpoint his reaction on. If she had it her way, he’d never know.
The Brotherhood almost looked normal. It blended in, looked like it belonged there... but as she followed the path around the building she saw it. Some sort of ironic memorial of metal with candles below it.
She knew things. Perks of being an Avenger? Perhaps... but it also left her with a longing she couldn’t quite squash. There had been rumors since as long as she could remember, and that’s saying something. Magneto fathered her! echoed a screechy voice in her mind that caused her to stumble. What she hadn’t realized was that there had been another out there, stepping out of the shadows as her eyes registered her. Wanda recognized her almost immediately. There were things she paid attention to and mutants were one of those things. Lorna Dane? It wasn’t exactly NOT broadcasted that she was Magneto’s daughter. His true daughter, she needed to remind herself. Wanda never knew who her birth parents were, and she knew her adoptive parents looked nothing like her and Pietro, but there had never been a true need to ask the dreaded question. Luckily for her, it seemed to late now if she ever wanted to ask it.
“As do I,” but perhaps not in the same sense, “but I hope in your case, you can resolve them if it’s not too late to.” It’s too late for Magneto, whether it was his doing and hand in his death or not.

@americanhero / I don't have a will. I don't have anything to leave behind.
There were little moments here and there with everyone.
Tony was, well, difficult. In his mind she was probably still a child who needed to be coddled. With Clint it was somewhat difficult but she still appreciated the time he spent with her, talking and training her. She wasn’t angry with him believe it or not. Maybe if she was angry with anyone, it was Pietro, for being a much better person than she believed herself to be. He was always the better half of them and now that he’s gone, still gone, she had to face that fact head on. Clint was her friend, and she admired him for plenty more than surface level things. Bruce was, well, different but she still visited him in the lab every now and then. Time with Natasha was a mixed bag of training or speaking, but she liked it either way.
She appreciated the little talks she managed to have with Steve and Clint the most. In those quiet moments, tucked away in corners, Wanda felt almost sane. Almost normal. The issue today is the fact that wills were mentioned.
What would you give those you leave behind? What did you have to give, anyways?
Wanda frowned, taking a deep breath in before letting it out. “It’s not about you,” she pointed out, struggling to keep herself from stammering it. She’s considered it herself. It’s not like she truly had anything either. Sure, she made a paycheck at the bookstore when she didn’t struggle to go in but otherwise, what else was there? “A picture or a book... something for those who are left behind to remember you by. Like...” The woman stood up and paced for a minute as she considered what she’d say. “I don’t know but if there’s ever a possibility of a life without you, I’d never want to forget you.”
Call it morbid but she still had the fabric of the suit Pietro wore when he died. Her fingers moved to play with the small scrap she had turned into a bracelet, wrapped around her wrist.

@avengingwidow / Let me introduce you to my debut novel how to kill people 101.
There were things she had come to learn of the world she watched from crumbling cracks. Firstly, it was okay to have differing points of views as long as they did no harm. Secondly, if you need to do harm, do it in the name of good. No, perhaps that’s not exactly the correct translation but she was getting better with translations at least. Each member of the Avengers had their own stories; each walked their own path with little branches that intersected here, in this very hub of madness considered to be the headquarters for the time being. She didn’t have to work for a few hours, even though Tony would surely argue she didn’t have to work at all... What could she possibly want much less need out there in that big world? Freedom would be one thing. Besides Pietro, freedom had been the only thing she had wanted since long before she could remember. She remembered her parents, though less and less these days, and even still there was a particular taste in her mouth at said memories. Wanda could smell raspberries in the air. Something meant for lunch, perhaps? Or some smoothie Natasha was drinking that week... and as if right on cue, she’s pulled out of her thoughts by the familiar voice.
“Natasha,” Wanda spoke softly though there’s a quirk of a smile on her lips, “is this a training thing?” she wondered curiously, eyes narrowing. If there’s anything she had come to learn about the woman in question, it was that she never knew just what her words entailed.

BIOGRAPHY:
Unbeknownst to Wanda, and perhaps Pietro, Wanda was born in 1956 when her mother Magda left her father Erik Lehnsherr. Some time later, Magda perished and the twins found themselves in the care of a gyspy couple named Django and Marya Maximoff. They were in their care until Hydra members captured the twins and experimented on them for years. In the president day, the Avengers were lead to believe that the twins were younger than they truly are even with a story of the loss of their adoptive parents; but after so many years in captivity, Wanda’s mental compacity had severely been impacted and even believed the stories she heard whispered in the hallways by the men who feared her. Because she and Pietro are mutants, and impacted by the mind stone, their aging is also severely stunted and Wanda appears to be a young woman still (twenty-seven, at most).
While she did fight on Ultron’s side, she could see the damage that would be done if he should get his way and switched sides to the Avengers with her twin. They fought to save Sokovia citizens together and stop Ultron but Pietro was killed in the process by saving Clint’s life. When this happened, Wanda screamed out in anguish at the loss of the one person who had always mattered to her; the other half of her soul, of course. In the process she released energy that created whipples of possibilities: such as Pietro being resurrected and the twins being created somewhere in the universe or the next.
Wanda stayed with the Avengers afterwards, learning to fight and control her power. She truly believes they became her family and she was extremely grateful for that. They help her want to be better each and every single day. When Wanda finally felt she was able to, she ventured out into the world and even got her first job as a bookstore clerk in New York City as Wendy. The downside of everything, however, is that she’s not as stable as she seems. She’s still fearful of herself and knows the damage she can cause if something were to happen. She fears capture and she fears that one day, her teammates might fear her again. After all, when something is feared... it’s locked up or destroyed. Because she fears herself, she can’t truly ever reach her full potential in power (which thank god because there are a LOT.)
