These and many such similar questions have haunted teenagers for years! The most eye-opening moment of being a teenager is saying “I wanna be a … when I grow up!” and actually mean it! Teens have multiple interests and it is because they are suddenly being exposed to a world outside their family and school. New experiences and a change in the outlook aids in the personal growth and development of teenagers.

How to Choose a Career as a Teenager?
There are hundreds of relatives, friends and acquaintances to tell you “it’s high time you choose a career path” but almost no one to tell you ‘how’ to choose a career as a teenager. Your choice of career depends on a lot of factors.
Your strengths and weaknesses should be identified by you in a structured way. List down your strengths in one column and your weaknesses in another. Take a good look at your strengths and check whether any or some of them can be converted into a possible career option.
If your strengths include good analytical skills, eye for detail, persuasive communication skills, etc. then you can research career fields where these skills are in high demand. One such field is marketing.
After thorough research, make a list of fields that you can consider building a career.
Undertake another research to find out future prospects of that particular field. Check whether you lack any skill set required to excel in that field.
Focusing on your personal growth and development should happen simultaneously while choosing a career path. Once you have narrowed down your options, it’s time to take some productive action in the right direction to make one of your options final.

It is a known fact that the Indian education system does not really prepare teenagers for real-world challenges. It provides little opportunities for the students to explore the world outside the classroom and develop their personalities and behaviors. When you learn the necessary skills and values as a teenager, it adds a huge advantage to your career.
Teenage is a time to explore your abilities, find your strengths and expose yourself to opportunities that will help you gain real-world skills and knowledge. When you step into the professional world, there are so many things apart from communication skills and personality development that you might find difficult to adapt to. And so, it is best to start out early and learn these much-needed 21st-century skills for Indian teenagers so that you can be at par with others on a global level.
15 Life Skills Every Indian Teenager Needs to Learn Before College

What is IB equivalent in India
What is IB?
International Baccalaureate courses were introduced by a non-profit organization in 1968. It has several programs for which it accepts students aged 3-19. However, the age eligibility for admission varies from one program to another. Primary years program, middle years program, diploma program, and career-related program are its programs. The organization’s first program, the diploma program, started in the late 1960s. Later in the 1990s, it introduced other two programs, followed by a career-related program in recent years.
Currently, more than 5,000 schools in the world offer IB courses. IB World Schools are the schools that deliver IB programs. Students of the program are known as IB Candidates. The course enhances the skills and personality traits of its students to achieve success in terms of academics, career, and self-development. Moreover, it is helpful for students in terms of entering high-ranked universities because the course is given a priority, and students of the course are known to perform better. There are more than 60 IB Board Schools in India.

What is India’s school curriculum?
Like its neighboring countries, India has a 10+2 educational system in school. Schooling is mainly categorized into four levels: lower primary, upper primary, secondary, and higher secondary school. Lower primary education consists of five grades and upper primary education consists of two grades. Similarly, the secondary school comprises 8th, 9th, and 10th grade. The higher secondary school involves the final two years of school. 11th and 12th grade are studied before college, so it is also known as a junior college. Some people often call it “plus two.” Most of the time, the Indian curriculum is heavily focused on academics. They are rarely ever committed to the development of a student’s skills and abilities. Marks are given priority. In Indian schools, a student’s grades determine how smart and talented he/she is.
India’s School Curriculum and IB (International Baccalaureate) Curriculum
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) are three boards of the Indian curriculum. Every state works with the federal government to decide the board of curriculum. These boards do not include an international curriculum. IB is a part of the international curriculum. In India, it is popular among private schools attended by high-class and wealthy people.
The IB board has age limits. But the Indian boards do not have them. There is no course time specified for the primary years program (PYP), but it accepts students of the age range 3-12. IB’s middle years' program (MYP) consists of five years of education. Similarly, the diploma program (DP) is offered for two years. IB's career-related program (CP) does not have a specific time. However, students must take two DP programs. It is assessed through an exam rather than the number of years. Students accepted into diploma and career-related programs should not be more than 19 years of age.
Despite the differences, IB (International Baccalaureate) courses have been recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) since the 1980s. The diploma course is considered to be the equivalent of 11th and 12th grade. IB candidates with diploma programs are eligible for undergraduate admissions in Indian universities. Written statements are printed out by universities in support of IB diploma programs. However, universities have their recognition policies for IB courses. From 2016 to 2020, the transcript requests to universities from Indian IB Board Schools increased by 48%. In 2020, over 4,500 transcript requests were sent to Indian colleges in May alone. Like for all other students, IB candidates are required to take entrance tests – especially for courses like Engineering and Medicine. However, the equivalency of IB in India remains the same. It is kept at the same level as higher secondary education.
At the end of the day your skills, goals, careers, and future of work matters. So to learn all of these at one place without compromising your comfort and finances enroll yourself into the Junior mba programme by Clever Harvey.

Advice About Alternatives To Coding
Although coding is regarded as the principle of Information Technology, there are career paths available in the rest of its sectors too. Fresh graduates must not feel pressured to have a career in programming. In today’s time, there is potential in other IT jobs as well. It’s a matter of more or less, but all sectors of Information Technology contribute to the wholeness of the field. Here is some advice for those who aspire to work in the areas of IT which does not involve coding:

· Salary varies
It is important to acknowledge that entry-level designing and testing employees do not earn as much as entry-level programming employees. The salary of beginner coders in India is usually 7 lakh rupees per annum. For UI designers and software testers, the number is 3-4 lakh rupees per annum. However, the candidate’s university, skills, and experiences play a major role. If a person has been working for an IT company as a UI designer since the beginning of their college days, then they may have the opportunity to earn more. Money is a factor to consider – especially if a person is the breadwinner of the family. If money matters to you, then you must decide accordingly.
· Place matters
When it comes to coding, the tasks are the same everywhere. The ways to perform them may be different. But the place and people do not make much of a difference. It may not be the same for others. A data analyst in India and in the United States may need different skills for their job. Their work may not cover the same areas and their priorities may vary. Working in a foreign country may be challenging for a non-coder. The pay, work environment, and required skills may be different. If you are someone who has plans to work or settle abroad, then the details of the job in the host country must be known.
· Long hours on screen
Irrelevant of the IT job a person does, screen time on electronic devices cannot be avoided. It is mainly because IT is mostly about computer work. It comprises management too. However, management in IT demands screen time as well. If a person has decided to change their coding career because of the screen exposure it requires, then other IT jobs may not be suitable for you. Software testing, graphic designing, search engine optimization, and data analyzing all demand device works. However, if that’s what you want, then you can select the line of work that asks for less work on laptops, TVs, mobiles, etc.
· Personality development
It is a valid reason to choose an alternative. A coder requires a specific set of skills. The job is about algorithms most of the time. It is capable of making a person dull and lazy. However, with other careers, a person may be able to experience growth. Self-improvement is a must in all sectors. But when it comes to other jobs, surroundings, people and jobs may matter more. For example: communicating with the company’s client for UI designing may enhance one’s communication skills. In terms of coding, one may simply have to communicate with senior developers, testers, CEOs, etc. Focusing only on IT skills may not be everyone’s priority after all.
It is a decision that must be taken carefully. These are a few factors that need to be taken into consideration. However, it often depends from person to person. What matters to someone may not make a difference for others. Choosing a career calls for an overview of individual preferences, situations, personality development and aims. Moreover if you want to align your paths and start your technical career do enroll yourself into a junior mba program by clever harvey which will give you the crystal clear routes to goals, skills, and strategies.

How can teaching life skills benefit students
Life skills are survival skills. These are skills that can be of use at any point in a person’s life. Some important life skills include cooking, swimming, cleaning, etc. As listed by UNICEF, the ten main life skills are known to be problem-solving, communication skills, self-awareness building skills, empathic abilities, critical thinking, decision-making, creative thinking, interpersonal relationship skills, and coping with stress and dealing with emotions. If a person masters these skills, they will be able to manage their family, work, and relationships properly. Having expertise over them is crucial at today’s age – especially as a youngster. They can be advantageous to teenagers in different ways. I’ll point out a few:

To have a deeper understanding of self
Learning is knowing. In the process of learning, there is much to be realized. While students are taking their time to enhance their skills, they may get to know themselves on a deeper level. For instance, during cooking classes, they may learn of their passion for cooking. The road of knowing their identity and their desire becomes clearer. It becomes more convenient to separate what a person likes doing and what a person hates doing. Teenagers will be self-aware and it promises personal growth. Similarly, it improves their mental health because clarity exists. Where there is clarity, there is less stress.
To survive in the face of danger
Accidents happen everywhere. They do not always come with a warning. A lot of times, danger can be minimized if optimal solutions are applied. For example: if someone is drowning in the river, then he/she can be saved by someone who knows how to swim. However, the problem may not have been there in the first place if they knew swimming. The expertise of life skills does not mean that there won’t be any danger, it just makes everything less dangerous. It also gives teenagers confidence to face risks because they are experts on the skills they have. Without any life skills, it is impossible to survive.
To develop healthy relationships
Whether it’s a bond with a friend or a family member, it requires communication and empathy. Sometimes our relationships with others demand a lot more than our minds can comprehend. It should be understood that relationships do not come with stress. Emotions are always involved. There will be situations that test a person’s ability to deal with stress and emotions. One would need communication skills to make a friend as well as empathy and emotions to maintain it. Especially as a teenager, it can be tough to have emotional stability and handle emotionally challenging situations in the best manner. Therefore, life skills are vital to nurturing relationships.
To help money management
Managing money isn’t an easy task. It requires skills. All youngsters are involved with money in some way – whether it’s earning, spending, or both. To assist them in making better financial decisions, life skills must be taught. Enhancement of creative thinking and decision-making abilities can impact a teenager’s money management like nothing else. For those who are interested in money making as a teenager, this may lead to a great business idea or a great investment with a high return. The current youth spend most of their money on fashion, entertainment, recreational activities, and electronic devices. When they’re smarter, they will think about their financial moves and consider if it is worth their money.
To contribute to the betterment of the world
The impact of one person in the world is often underestimated. However, the world would be a much better place if each person learned the importance of life skills and had mastery over them. If every teenager knew how to swim, then the number of youngsters dying from drowning would definitely decrease significantly. When a person has expertise over certain abilities, then they inspire at least one person to do the same. Most of the time, the number is greater than that. They can train others to have the same capabilities. Overall, it’s a good decision for the world. When an individual is better, society is better. When society is better, the world is better.
Life skills should be a part of the school curriculum as they are a must-have in today’s world. It helps with personality development. It will prepare students for their future and help them make better decisions as human beings. To break the stereotype of traditional education and align the paths of active learning enroll in the junior MBA program by clever Harvey which is a perfect mixture of skills, strategies, and entrepreneurial skills which schools don't teach.

How to Solve Common Problems for Parenting Teenagers
The teenage years are the time when young adults face a lot of challenges communicating well with their parents and it is also a period where they face a lot of dilemmas regarding their decisions, life, and identity. While this is a crucial time to direct them towards positive development, it becomes the responsibility of parents to ease out this process to help their teens cope up well with the challenges of life. This blog is an attempt to help all the parents out there to solve their day-to-day problems regarding parenting teenagers.

Why Parenting Teenagers in India is Tough
Parenting Teenagers in India can be quite tough as we are living totally in a different setup where children are brought up in different ways. India is the country with mostly nuclear or joint families where children also grow up in such a setup influencing their upbringing in various ways. As these days parents also go for jobs, they usually send their children to their grandparents or aunts who supervise them. This is something that might expose teens to a variety of influences.
Social Media & Internet As A Bane For Right Growth
Teenagers nowadays are exposed to a lot of information due to easy access to the internet and social media. It can be clearly said that teenagers are growing up smarter as they are accessing unfiltered information and content scrolling feeds on Instagram and Snapchat. This is also something that increases the gap between what their parents know and what they are exposed to, making it challenging for parents to tackle them in the right direction.
Solving Parenting Problems The Right Way
Here are various ways through which you can solve common problems of parenting teenagers.
Understanding Conflict & Communication
We usually see a lot of teenagers nagging in front of their parents. They just discard the things which their parents say to them and they think the advice and concerns brought up by their parents are just useless. This usually happens because most of the time both teenagers and parents don’t understand the thin line between what conflict and communication are. While referring to the part of parents, they need to take up the ways so that they can softly communicate with their teens in a friendly manner while teenagers should also not take advice in a conflicting manner. There has to be a middle ground that can restore seamless communication between both parents and teens smoothly.
Caring in Soft, Non- Judge mental, and Non-Comparative Way
Differences of opinion between parents and teenage children are an inevitable part of life. Dealing with teenagers during this time can be frustrating and parents often choose the rude and strict way to deal with it. Many of the times parents also compare their children with others which makes things more complicated and leads to an existential crisis for their teens. This way, They also don't listen to the truth that their parents are often talking about. To solve this, you need to choose a way that is non-judgmental and non-comparative to make things better between you and your teen.
Make Them Understand Things Right Way
Sometimes parents just expect their children to do those things whatever they want them to do. But this is not how parenting works, it is a two-way process where parents need to understand their teens and then make them understand the value of why doing something they are telling is important. Rather than just commanding them, parents need to opt for an approach that doesn’t sound much authoritarian or rude.
Understanding Control & Privacy
Teens sometimes need their own space and parents should give it to them. Though it is important to keep tabs on what your teens are up to, you should also give them the freedom to live their own lives. This is something that a lot of teenagers love and this will make them more open and confident to use this freedom in the right way.
Hone Your Teens Personality: Expose them to Different Multitudes
The overall development of teenagers can help them become sincere, disciplined, and skilled in life. Being a parent, you should look towards enrolling your teens into sports, skill-based courses, or career discovery programs that can help them learn new things. This is also something that will help them direct their mind into productive things.
If you think your teenager is interested in technology then you can also think about enrolling them in Junior MBA in Technology by Clever Harvey where they will get exposed to learning essential tech skills by doing industry-based projects. It is also something that will give them a certificate adding value to their CV.
