i actually know exactly what she would teach: middle/high school biology

i think she’d be approaching ms frizzle honestly. like still very careful and exact in her appearance but she’d definitely wearing very science-themed outfits

when she’s NOT channeling ms frizzle she’s wearing like?? casual jeans and t shirts. comfortable. she wouldn’t go to yoga pants or anything though. maybe still wearing blouses

classroom would be very organized, she’d actually take the time to adjust the desks and all that once a week

ah e’s organizing that chromebook cart too. why students just shove them in instead of putting them where they go she’ll never understand

she’s showing nature documentaries and finding nemo towards the end of each quarter/semester/trimester while she’s grading in the back. that’s biology in action and she has projects to grade and books to update!!

students can always come in after school if they need more help from her!

she’s also going to let students correct and resubmit work to get a better grade (hobie would also do this btw).

she loves and hates science fair

has florescent light covers over all of the lights in her room. too bright and they give her a headache. between the covered lights and natural light from the windows, it’s a very soothing atmosphere

additionally she has so many alternative seating options in her room. wobble chairs, exercise balls, those spiky things people like to sit on, bands students can put on the legs of their chairs and press against, etc

if her students are young enough to be interested in it, they’re definitely going to be extracting dna from strawberries (also a small strawberry snack mayhaps). also the rainbow marshmallow dna activity

there is a venus flytrap in the classroom, the students named it audrey iii a few years back and it stuck

emphasizes that there’s a lot of different contributors in science, and not all of them are celebrated. emphasis also on scientists who laid the groundwork but didn’t get credit

would be one of those teachers students are lowkey afraid of for no reason

she would unfortunately do extra work outside of her contract hours :( hobie is trying to break this habit but she feels like she has to do it??

she and hobie tend to sit together during staff meetings. unfortunately hobie will get bored and quietly try to get ophelia to crack up halfway through

if ophelia is able to get funding for it, she would definitely do a chicken hatch project in the spring

btw she also hates standardized testing. her students get so stressed and she knows it’s not worth all the resources they’re compelled to dedicate

during testing week i could see her and hobie splitting their students to watch csi in hobie’s class or read/draw/etc quietly in her room, whichever the students need

hilariously none of the students know that she and hobie are a couple. that’s on purpose tho.

she has a bunch of worksheets students can do in their free time for a point of extra credit—things like crosswords, punnet squares, etc

she has a charging station in the back of her classroom. if she sees a student’s phone out, they have the option to put it on her desk or charge it until the end of the day

oh hey you used ai for classwork?? have fun writing essays by hand for the rest of the semester.

doesn’t really do detentions? she’s also focused on more restorative actions. i could see apology letters being a thing

students earn marbles throughout the year. once she’s lost all her marbles students can use them to vote which color she’s dying her hair next
