Can we talk about Charlotte Aitchison's awesome 90s inspired outfits in her new video? Plaid skirt, spiked choker and platform shoes? Yes. Not to mention her friend's round sunglasses and candy bracelets.

Artist Spotlight: Jonni Cheatwood
Tumblr media
I've got a thing for art that plays with the absense of identity and Jonni Cheatwood's Grace Series does just that in a totally rad way. Cheatwood graduated from Arizona State University in 2011 and currently lives and works in Tempe, AZ.
"The majority of my thought process is dedicated to deconstruction, making mistakes, and finding truths in the abstract," Cheatwood writes on his website.
Using acrylic on inkjet prints, Cheatwood creates these surrealist, faceless pieces.

Grimes & Saint Laurent
Tumblr media
So what's up with Saint Laurent collaborating with such awesome musicians lately? First Beck now Grimes? I couldn't ask for anything more. Grimes, otherwise known as Claire Boucher, has designed a capsule collection for Saint Laurent Paris. The collection features five t-shirts with original designs done by Boucher herself. Having previously designed a line of vagina rings, Grimes hopes to pursue her own line in the future and I couldn't be more excited about it. Bring it on.
You can find her t-shirt designs here.

Beck Models for Saint Laurent
The windows are rolled down, my sister is in the driver's seat and my arm is out the window feeling the breeze and cupping the wind in my hand. Donned in plaid skirts, knee-high socks and navy blue polos, we've got Beck's "Geuro" dancing through the speakers. I have been listening to Beck for years now. My school uniform has come and gome (and my knee-high socks have made their triumphant return), but Beck's music is still a constant.
All these years I've thought, Beck is cool. And as if this guy couldn't get any cooler, Beck adds modeling for Saint Laurent's Spring 2013 campaign to his list of successes. Beck has collaborated with musicians such as Chris Ballew from The Presidents of the United States of America, Jack White, Emmylou Harris, The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Wilco, Feist and more. He has played on SNL six times, has been nominated for 12 Grammy awards and won three, not to mention 15 nominations and six wins for the MTV Video Music Awards. Okay so I'm done obsessing, check him out.

Best Etsy: I'm Your Present
One of my good friends showed me this Etsy shop, "I'm Your Present" a few months ago. And I'm so glad I decided to bookmark it. This shop features handmade clothing, accessories and jewelry. It is packed with fantastic acrylic jewelry, kittens, silver confetti and skulls. If you've got a thing for super kitsch and ultra feminine jewelry then you've gotta give this shop a look. Check out some of my favorite pieces:

Artist Spotlight: Panni Malekzadeh
Tumblr media
Panni Malekzadeh explores sexual, cultural and personal identity in her series Love Me Till It Hurts. In her artist statement, she quotes Sylvia Plath, “If neurotic is wanting two mutually exclusive things at one and the same time, then I'm neurotic as hell. I'll be flying back and forth between one mutually exclusive thing and another for the rest of my days.” She goes on to explain the influence Plath has had on her most recent work.
Tumblr media
Okay, you had me at hello.
Malekzadeh examines vulnerability, self-imprisonment and fragility. "My subject matter suggests ideas of beauty vs. despair, shame, embarrassment and vulnerability that woman many times experience in their lives," she said.
She describes her work as having a "delicate profanity." Period costumes, lace, floral, neon lights, and unicorns create this girl's fantasy but is contrasted by pain and profanity.
Is it just me or do you feel like listening to CocoRosie and eating french macaroons?
More of her work after the jump.

Designer Spotlight: Ashley Buchanan
I bought a piece of Ashley's jewelry back in May at the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists Craft Fair and I think it is about time that I give this girl a shout out. If you are a fan of baroque silhouettes, doilies and cameos then you will totally dig her work.
Ashley lives in Johnson City, Tenn. and she hand cuts all of her work from brass or sterling silver sheet metal. Using a powder coating technique, she colors them cream, light gray, slate gray or charcoal. With incredible clean lines, you can be sure you won't find these delicate pieces anywhere else.
What's cool? If you send her a cameo, she'll create a custom piece just for you, cool. Check out some of her custom pieces below.

How To: Neon
Neon is definitely hot for this summer but wearing something so bright can be super daunting, especially if you don't wear a lot of color. If you're feeling shy but want to be a part of this trend, my suggestion is to keep it simple. Start with one statement piece at a time.
My neon staple for this summer is this neon pink button down from Old Navy (only $22.99). I can wear it tucked into a printed skirt, with high-waisted shorts or a pair of skinny jeans.
5 simple ways to wear neon this summer:
As a bag
As a bandage skirt (check this girl out, she's seems totally rad)
As shorts
As a belt
