apologies if this seems weird, but i think adam would’ve fucked with frankenstein heavy.

i believe these two ideas parallel each other. franknestein’s monster expressed his discontent with his growing knowledge and awareness of humanity surrounding him. he acknowledges this newfound desire for more than his basic necessities, because that’s what culture does to him. adam’s views on goals and achievement can be summed up to “fulfillment is a delusion that culture has imposed on us.”

several times throughout the novel, frankenstein’s monster discusses resentment towards his created for creating him. “curse you for giving me consciousness!!” or something along the lines of that 😭. well, we all know that adam is an antinatalist and believes the initial conceivement of life is wrong.

oh another unrelated but cool detail is that in the novel, frankenstein’s monster often refers to himself as “adam” (as an allusion to adam and eve). i definitely believe them to be similar, but where they differ is their perception of humanity. while frankenstein’s monster grows to hate humanity for isolating him, adam seems to blame human culture as well as life itself for suffering.

i have so much more to say on this, but id have to grab more direct quotes later on.. which i will be rambling more on about soon. i just really recommend reading frankenstein as its a classic and im sure you’ll enjoy it if you like reading themes of isolation.
