” But here in Gaza… we no longer speak of choices — because we no longer have any,” This is what @zinaanqar16 father told me

Ahmed, a father of four, sits helplessly as his infant daughter cries without tears — her mother has no milk left, and hope has vanished from his eyes.

He told me:

"If I stay, I die with them in silence. If I go out, I may die alone. But I can’t bear to watch them starve and do nothing." He’s not asking for a dignified life — just a piece of bread to extend his children's lives by one more day. Just one can of baby formula… to keep his daughter from dying slowly.

In Gaza, fatherhood means offering your body to feed your children. It means becoming a potential martyr just to bring home a sip of water. It means walking into death — only to delay the death of those you love.

What kind of world is this? What conscience allows a people to be trapped between starvation and fire?

On October 22, 2023, an airstrike destroyed the house I was in — my grandfather’s home. It was the heart of our family.

I was there with my mother, my sister, and my three younger brothers.

When the missile hit, everything turned to smoke, blood, and silence.

My mother and sister were killed instantly.

My brothers and I were pulled from the rubble, injured — but alive.

Moments later, my father arrived at the hospital.

He didn’t know if any of us had survived. He ran through the halls, searching.

Al Jazeera Mubasher filmed that exact moment — the moment he found us.

A 14 year old girl flushing her miscarriage down the toilet can be charged with mutilating a corpse, but keeping a dead woman on life support for 120 days then cutting her open to extract a 2 pound fetus because her dead body was decaying too fast to sustain the pregnancy any longer is not only legal but compelled by law. As a mother, watching him suffer like this is breaking me. I am exhausted — physically, mentally, and emotionally — but I can’t stop. I keep going because I have no other choice. Why is Qais suffering from malnutrition in Gaza?

1. The war has destroyed food supplies and markets, making it nearly impossible to find basic nutrition.

2. Blockades and restrictions have cut off access to humanitarian aid and baby formula.

3. The health system is collapsing, and there is no proper care or food for growing children like Qais.

– At least 48 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since dawn, including 33 people waiting for aid.

– Al-Awda Hospital reports 60 people wounded by occupation forces near the Netzarim Corridor aid distribution point.

Kassav is an emblematic group in Caribbean music, its story begins with Pierre-Edouard Decimus, a member of Les VIKINGS, and Freddy Marshall, who conceive an innovative approach. Teaming up with Georges Decimus and Jacob Desvarieux, the group blends traditional Gwoka rhythms with modern techniques to create a new sound. Kassav emerges as an experimental concept, driven by reflection and a desire for progression. The first album, "Love and Ka Dance," is released in 1979.

Kassav evolves through various formations, exploring names like "Soukwé kò'w" or Kassav. The group stands out by predominantly performing live, recording numerous albums collectively and over thirty solo albums by its members . KASSAV was as well composed of Jocelyne Béroard , Jean Pierre Bélony, Patrick Saint Eloi, Jean Claude Naimro and Claude Villa . 

Kassav became a symbol of pride and recognition for Caribbean music, captivating an expanding audience in Guadeloupe, Martinique, France and worldwide and where it embodies an identifying culture for youth distant from their island origins. The initial albums, deemed "ethnic" by major labels, are produced by Caribbean record companies and distributed by Sonodisc. From 1984 to 1987, Kassav partners with GD Productions, gaining international recognition with the 1984 album "Zouk-la sé sel médikaman nou ni," there by popularizing the term "Zouk" for their musical style.

Since 1985, Kassav has toured the world, drawing massive crowds in Africa, the Caribbean, France, and beyond. Hits like "Kolé séré" and "Zouk-la sé sel médikaman nou ni" enjoy great success. Despite distribution challenges, their impact endures, even inspiring new dances and musical styles. The story of Kassav, which commenced three decades ago in the Caribbean islands, showcases a unique creative fusion and a lasting musical influence on a global scale.

I've talked before about my dear friend Ibrahim @aburakhiaibrahim, who is trying to raise funds so his family can evacuate and reunite with relatives in Egypt. He is still trying to do so, though donations keep being extremely slow.

Unfortunately, Ibrahim now has a painful new struggle to deal with as well. Recently, he had been searching for his belongings in rubble that had been bombed by the occupation forces. The missiles that had bombed the area contained toxic materials. The toxic materials rubbed off on Ibrahim's hands, leaving them poisoned and inflamed.

Please take a moment to read my story.

I am Heba Al-Dahdouh. I currently live in the completely destroyed city of Gaza. Since the war on Gaza began on 7/1/2024, my family- my father Nasif, my mother Asmaa, and my siblings Khaled, Ahmad, Muhammad, and Malak-have been living in constant fear, crying, and suffering due to shrapnel, shells, and bullets.

We have no food, no electricity, no cooking gas, no schools, no homes, no cleaning supplies, and no clothes. Our house was completely destroyed. My school has been bombed, and my brother Khaled's university is now rubble, depriving us all of education. The war has forced us to live in displacement centers, which are just tents unsuitable for living, especially in winter.

Every day we live death, terror, and panic a thousand times because of the ongoing bombardment of my city. The war has killed more than 50 of my relatives and neighbors. At the start of the war, we sought refuge at my aunt's house, but it too became rubble. Imagine: we have survived imminent death more than 20 times and have been displaced among shelters more than 13 times. My siblings and I have suffered from many illnesses due to malnutrition, and we need medication continuously.

If we stay in Gaza, we might lose our lives. Recently, we have been seriously considering leaving Gaza for a safe place. However, travel costs are extremely high. We need over $50,000 to leave Gaza. Due to exorbitant prices, rampant unemployment, lack of security, the ongoing siege, and relentless bombardment, we have lost all our money. How can we live in such insecurity, with constant shelling and shrapnel flying above us? Dear compassionate friends around the world,

These are the worst four days my family and I have ever lived.!!!

The Israeli occupation has completely cut off the internet in the Gaza Strip and has been committing massacres throughout these days. More than 250 martyrs have been killed in these four days. We have survived many times direct gunfire on our tent and shelling near us. We are not okay. It has been more than 400 days since I was injured in the bombing of our house and I have not been able to undergo my surgery yet. Please, we are not safe. We are going through a severe famine.
