Hi, we are four nobodies that made NBC and Don Kirshner and Rafelson and Schneider a million bazillion dollars and could’ve easily just sat back and watched the money continued to roll in by merely singing on songs, but oh no, we’re going to overthrow the establishment and make a garage band record with a drummer that barely can play the drums and put on pedal steel guitar on songs and hey maybe call a song “Randy Scouse Git” (aka horny jerk from Liverpool), and do a spoken word mantra track called “Zilch” based on something we heard at the airport over the intercom, and yeah record a snippet of Micky (our non drumming drummer) attempt to play the Warner Brothers theme song and laugh about it, and hey let put a banjo on the opening track, at an album geared towards 11 year old teenyboppers? But we can, because Mike Nesmith (aka a nobody at that time) punched a hole in the wall at a record exec named HERB and said the word MOTHERFUCKER and scared the suits and oh my god if you don’t understand how making Headquarters in their position at that time is the most fucking punk rock ballsy thing ever plz unfollow me, thanks
