Something that I get chills about is the fact that the oldest story told made by the oldest civilization opens with "In those days, in those distant days, in those ancient nights."

This confirms that there is a civilization older than the Sumerians that we have yet to find

Some people get existential dread from this

Me? I think it's fucking awesome it shows just how much of this world we have yet to discover and that is just fascinating

well maybe you should blearily wake up at 5:08 in the pre-dawn light and find the sleeping soft tiny mammal body of your cat just inches from your head like a miracle too beautiful for speech, and you should rustle one hand out from your blankets to rub fingertip circles across the warm eggshell dome of her little velvet-wrapped skull and on the bristly patches just where the cups of her ears begin, and as she inclines her head into your fingers and purrs without ever opening her little eyes you should feel a love so tender that you understand how that love could have reached out from the fireside into the inky spangled nights long gone to reach her, and then you'll feel better

I love Tom Lehrer's music and style of satire and from what I can tell was an all around great guy, who famously hated Henry Kissinger. He was an energetic person who inspired comedy musicians such as Weird Al.

He lived a rich life until the age of 97.

He made his entire catalog of music public domain before his death and it was mirrored by the Internet Archive.

What fascinates me about the electric guitar is that there is no "on or off" switch like I thought there had to be when I was younger. It's JUST some strings and a few pickups and dials. It doesn't use batteries and you don't plug it into the wall. It's just a thing that catches vibrations. The amplifier is where the electric part comes in.

I'm so used to everything being digital. I work in programs and videogames. This thing isn't digital at all. It's very physical. It's just a thing that you vibrate with your fingers. So fascinating.
