( ´ ▽ ` ) ♥ sachiko ♥ chapter one ♥ re: usami, janet
Tumblr media
“Uwaa… I… thiiiiink Usami-chan was just trying to comfort her? In his own way? You know… trying to say it’s not something to make her seem scary? Though um… I did offer to try help her keep it covered if she wanted while we checked it… iiiiif you missed that… hee…”
It was hard to tell what Sachiko sounded more miffed at, at least in terms of her voice sounding a little more dejected than its usual pep: the fact that Usami seemed to have immediately diverted everyone from what she’d been offering in terms of help too, or just Usami in general. Admittedly, there was no ignoring the very concerned look she shot Usami on the back of his spiel, but hey.
(You know, she was relieved that everyone else seemed to have some kind of direction as to where to go on all this- but it still kinda sucked to feel like she didn’t even have her own space here! She’d have to try harder…)
Still, as creeped out as she also was, Sachiko figured that everyone else kinda had telling him off on lockdown already. So she just let them go ahead with it, her only comment over the time being a small ‘hey!’ at Toka when her voting scheme completely failed to make an impact, redoing her vote to fit in with the currently most popular idea.
Until Janet mentioned the idea of covering all bases by doing some of their own exercises anyway, and Sachiko bobbed back up into attention again- because that was something she knew how to do already for sure!
“Oh, oh! That sounds fair enough, Janet-chan! Hee, I’m not in the easiest outfit to do this in, but-”
With that introduction, Sachiko took a second to step around from behind her podium, her heels tapping on the floor for a second or two as she jogged on the spot to start- before the athlete just took off, breaking into a run that took her directly across the trial room circle to the podiums opposite-
Where she skidded at the other side to lean down and have her hand touch the floor at Usami’s podium-
And then ran right back to her own podium again, seeming about to hit the floor again and run right back to Usami’s side again, but she caught herself just in time to straighten up and come to a halt with a giggle. The whole process took a matter of seconds, and the girl didn’t even seem particularly put out by any aspect, going so far as to wink at Janet as the proposer of the rest of them doing this.
Now that was just showing off, Sachiko.
Tumblr media
“Hee hee! There you go! I could do it faster, buuut I’m not going to try that fast in these shoes- but that’s not the point, I guess! You should be able to see I’m not bleeding or anything pretty easily with what I’m wearing, right?”
Thanks. There was nothing to be seen happening as a side effect of her small shuttle run anyway.
…Maybe she should just leave the rest of this to the others now, though. At least she felt a little more out there now!

“Hmmm….no.”
Sachiko’s vote is defaulted.

{ finn not here title post save daishin } ♥ daishin + sachiko ♥ chapter one ♥ re: mari, injury check calls, masaharu, kami
Daishin had, extremely helpfully, fallen silent again as soon as more than one person started speaking. Who knew, perhaps by staring at everyone blankly they were somehow intaking all the information and leaping to amazing conclusions. They do focus in on Kuroi for a moment with her introduction, reaching up to fiddle with their scarf. Boyfriend? Had she known this Naythan before coming here, or did relationships just happen that fast? Daishin wouldn’t know themself, obviously.
Still, they elect not to say anything- not even when someone’s making a claim about double avatars, which even Daishin could rebut, if they weren’t so concerned with the twenty-plus other people standing around them.
Sachiko seems to have decided to fall silent too after her eager sharing of regalia information- perhaps a little more of an uncanny thing to see in comparison to the generally-always-quieter Daishin, but there was to be no changing of it now.
Until, that is, Mari takes hold of her regalia and just THROWS IT-!!
“M-Mari-chan-!”
There’s no time for any kind of more delicate expression of shock- so there’s no hands muffling Sachiko’s ear-piercing shriek this time. She’s not someone who looks to run over immediately and kick it back to the other girl though; if anything, Sachiko seems to shrink back from it all, almost like she’s cowering in fear.
In comparison, Daishin doesn’t seem to be responding to… much, really, electing to stand like a statue behind their podium- until Sachiko shrieks next to them and they jump about a foot in the air. They stare at her, looking panicked for a moment, before they reach out one hand to tentatively pat her on the arm. Patpatpatpat.
Tumblr media
“Um… Mori-san, don’t worry… it’d be impossible for it to leave the room, so…”
Their feeble reassurance finished, they turn back to listen to the trial for a moment and then lean in to Sachiko once more. Apparently talking publically was still outside of their area of expertise- though, just in case she’s still upset, the pat her on the arm more as they do so. It seems to keep Sachiko calm, at least, and even though she’s still fairly shaken and drawn in closer to Daishin for the arm pats, she manages to clear her throat and project the words put in her mouth clear enough once again.
Tumblr media
“…Excuse me! Um! Tanaguchi-chan is saying that the avatar thing is a… misunderstanding? Hee, honestly I was wondering about that too… but! They think we’re getting distracted and we should focus on ACTUAL serious evidence, please..! And anyway! Doesn’t virtual suggest liiiiiike… electronic stuff? Which doesn’t, um, seem to be working here in the first place..?”
There’s presumably some kind of implication in there, but Sachiko decides not to chase any of its threads, instead falling back again with something of a sheepish ‘what can you do’ smile.
It was nearly instantly erased by Kabu sliding up to take a whiff, the girl giving a quieter version of her earlier shriek when she finally catches the guy in her peripheral vision and initially jumping away, but hey.
She’s still in something of a jumpy state when Masaharu speaks up, and it’s apparently not helped by the main subject being the amount of blood if her reach for her water bottle is anything to go by, but she still chimes in nonetheless. Leaving it to other people or not, it really wouldn’t do if she just stayed in the background of this, after all–!
Tumblr media
“Ummm… did he HAVE to be a willing participant? We just saw what happens when you- when you throw your regalia away! Mari-chan looked like she could barely move..! If he did that, then… it would have been pretty hard for him to be able to fight back, right? And… easy to overpower with just that..? It might have been kinda hard otherwise…”
Said the athlete in a room full of artsy possibly-noodly kids.
The discussion of blood itself doesn’t seem to be making Daishin nervous, but… something else, perhaps. They frown deeply into their scarf, whispering to Sachiko once more- she takes a couple of seconds to process this one, but ends up nodding sharply with a determined hum.
“Uwaaa… we think that checking people for injuries seems kiiiiinda invasive? And rude too..! Tanaguchi-chan doesn’t want to participate, and um…”
Was she… blushing??
Tumblr media
“I’m fine getting changed around like, teammates or people I know- because I actually know them and it doesn’t feel as embarrassing somehow- but I’m not going to just strip for anyone either! You have to be REALLY careful with that stuff, you know-! Isn’t there another way of doing things? Liiiike if we think we know the injury is on their arms or whatever, we can just… check there?”
Daishin nods slightly as Sachiko speaks before leaning in again, their blank gaze fixed on Kami as they whisper. The subject of this double-team statement is fairly obvious just from this point alone, as Sachiko’s concerned gaze swings to lock onto Kami too.
“Tanaguchi-chan would like you to show your eyepatch to someone up close? Just to check, you know! Besides..! Who says any kind of staple has to like… actually stay in the petal? Maaaaaybe it fell out somewhere else and we missed it!”
Finally seeming satisfied, the dollmaker leans back behind their own podium, picking at the bandages on their fingers. In their mind, a concept forms: some sort of object that could be passed around, so only the one holding it could speak. That would probably make the trial more manageable. Perhaps they’d propose it to their best knife-throwing friend later.

{ trial is more effective with nervous friends i guess } ♥ sachiko + daishin ♥ chapter one ♥ re: trial start
After what was surely an extremely amateurish investigation, Daishin and the rest of their merry crew of detectives enter the courtroom. Immediately they’re overcome by the pressure of choosing where they’re supposed to stand, like this is some sort of team selection in school, which always freaked them out- so in the end, they just quietly trail Sachiko and Seiki in and stand next to the pair, fiddling with their scarf. The introduction to the trial that follows only seems to make them more nervous, until they’ve retracted so far they look like a turtle sticking only their eyes out.
Their entrance to the trial room seems doomed to look like something of a back and forth affair, however, as even though Sachiko still appears to be carrying herself with some kind of confidence that must just be too ingrained now to disappear under such trivial things like classmate murder- she also looks to be trying to hang back and just follow Seiki and Daishin along, to see where they go rather than take any kind of lead. Still, even with these attempts of at least two of them trying to drop back, Sachiko also makes it to a podium without too much bother. Setting her handbag down on her podium, Sachiko sniffles and appears to pull herself up a little bit, pink gaze settling into the middle of the room - after staring at Usami directly opposite her for a few seconds anyway - and expression naturally trying for some kind of cheery look that doesn’t quite make it just yet.
And so, probably naturally… they just wait for others to take the lead.
Tumblr media
“…..”
The concept of talking, god forbid publically, was extremely overwhelming to even think about. Daishin considers it for all of .01 seconds before they cough into their arm and then lean over to tap Sachiko on the shoulder. After giving her the world’s most pitiful look, they lean even further to tug their scarf down and whisper in her ear.
At least it jolts Sachiko out of whatever distracted state she seems to have been threatening to fall in- her mouth opens in a nearly-exaggerated ‘O’ as she feels the tap on her shoulder, before flashing Daishin a small smile in return and letting them speak.
…Before springing back up with new purpose! And managing to flash the room a bright smile that is probably really inappropriate right now but it makes her feel better! And matches the vibe of what she was saying she guesses-!
Tumblr media
“Um-! Hee hee! I… well, Tanaguchi-chan here just wanted to encourage everyone to do their best! And that we um, shouldn’t let any… personal bias? Mess up this situation! But I think we can do… whatever this is for SURE anyway! I believe in us!”
Not bad!
After another quick smile to Daishin - a relieved one, almost, that she appears to have spoken for them correctly - Sachiko decides she might as well roll with the chance to talk that she has, deliberately putting an index finger to her cheek and tipping her head slightly.
Tumblr media
“Weeee… looked around a few places? Well, we TRIED to look around one place I guess - the kitchen - but we got… stopped? An attendant told us that someone got blood in the sink and it couldn’t be used! Whiiiich makes sense with the washcloth nearby that had blood on it…”
Mentioning blood to herself shakes Sachiko out of whatever incredibly natural seeming cheery facade she has going though, and she has to stop right there for a second. Slightly nervously she takes a bottle of water from her handbag, uncapping it and having some right there and then.
Daishin leans back once more, shuffling uncomfortably behind their podium as others continue discussing, and then (god forbid they use their own god-given voice) lean over to Sachiko once more and whisper. It’s enough to perk Sachiko back up again anyway, and she claps her gloved hands in sudden thought.
“…Oh, oh, right! The flower! Hee, you reminded me. We didn’t see ANY flowers like that either while looking around, not even ones the same colour? Tanaguchi-chan thinks that a synthetic flower seems more like… something someone would wear for like, an accessory? Orrr as part of an outfit! I kinda agree with that idea, hee. They think checking people’s outfits for missing parts might be a good idea!”
She seems done, and ready to let herself lapse back into being quiet and let someone else who knows what they’re doing more take over, but then- actually, what was she doing..?!
Tumblr media
“…Oh! Wait! This here is Daishin Tanaguchi, by the way! And I’m Sachiko Mori! I hope we can… all… get along..!”
Seems she didn’t quite realise how off those words might sound in a trial room for a peer murder until she was actually saying them.

。・゚(゚><゚)゚・。 ♥ sachiko ♥ chapter one ♥ re: body discovery
For all her upset, for all her confusion, for all her usually happy and bright outlooks on the world and life in general, murder wasn’t a concept that was completely off Sachiko Mori’s radar. It wasn’t exactly fun to think about or consider, of course- but she had heard of it, in contrast to the thoughts of anyone who might just think of her as sheltered or naive or someone who didn’t believe in any kind of harm at all.
But it was always incredibly… distant.
Hearing her mothers talk about the concept in relation to some kind of scene, people idly tossing the word around in relation to some food they could really go for right now, even the closest for comfort in calming down extremely out of hand gossip for the sake of a friend she’d never seen cry so much-
There was always at least one degree of separation, at least one small step to make this talk of murder not an inherently personal thing- and that was more than enough for Sachiko!
Not like… this.
Not like her being taunted over a sacrifice, and her eyes meeting those of someone she found she could tell wasn’t focusing on her in return, and having her gaze then drift down to the blood on his shirt that started to blur instantly and–
Murder was a concept Sachiko knew about, but hadn’t expected to know… here.
Even with murder actively encouraged, as far as she’d picked up on- here had just been making the most of her new fancy surroundings, and getting to know people, and actively just- just not thinking on this at all!
(And in line with that part of her admittedly was relieved- so, so relieved that the one dead wasn’t someone she’d come to know in this time- but even though she didn’t seem to have time to feel bad over that-)
Sachiko couldn’t help it. Her chest tightened and squeezed out a sharp scream the second it had formed, a high pitched noise that was not at all muffled by her hands clapping to her mouth- and though the now-natural strength in her legs stopped them from wobbling her too far, she was still noticeably a shaky far cry from her usual confident hold on herself.
As probably also evidenced by the obvious tears starting.
First a hiccup, then another, and then another with clear hitches of her shoulders; the hands in front of her mouth starting to tremble as the sight of the body she still couldn’t look away from almost mercifully began to blur.
(Though out of sight, out of mind wasn’t… working so well, it seemed.)
……
What… now?
Sachiko had no idea.
All she could seem to do was stand there and cry over the boy she didn’t even know the name of.

╮( ̄ω ̄;)╭ ♥ sachiko ♥ chapter one ♥ re: motive
Sleep wasn’t exactly something that came difficult to Sachiko in the first place, even in this now-rather-harrowing situation filled with small issues such as ‘actually we have no clue what kind of time it actually is’ and 'there’s an actual demon telling us to kill each other’. So naturally, being knocked awake out of some kind of dream definitely gave the girl a jolt, her mind taking a few moments to process what exactly was happening now after being so involved in such a vivid dream… but…
Well, she felt more confused by that dream than concerned or disappointed it wasn’t real or whatever! What was she meant to make of that? It may as well have been a happy memory, judging by how familiar it all seemed- the sense of joy and satisfaction at the end felt a bit more intense, yes, buuuut… not by too much as far as she could tell.
Her confusion sadly only stuck around when she’d all but sprinted down to the ballroom - as it turned out, the threat of having a knife thrown at them again could make even Sachiko Mori set a new record in getting ready! - though for once the girl wasn’t really taking in the reactions and thoughts of anyone else around her as Toka 'explained’ the situation. No, if anything, she was… entirely focused on processing her own thoughts on all of this, or perhaps just trying to, because she had to admit-
She STILL didn’t get this at all!
Knowing 'what could have happened’, changing fates, all that kind of redoing something stuff as an incentive… Sachiko’s brow was furrowed in confusion, eyes only half focused on the spot that Toka had disappeared from as she though back over her dream once again- matching it up to her actual memories…
Annnnnnd came up with a total blank.
Because nothing had really changed!
Okay, sure, a couple of actions here and there were different or missing- but the outcome was still the exact same, as far as she could tell! She was still completely content where she was then and now, that much she could and would swear by right now, sooooo…
(It… okay, it was leading to her starting to wonder if some things at the time had been worth the effort, buuuuuut THAT sounded like something a little difficult to delve into right now, so-!)
(Not like she could say there was any regret, really, at least not while this situation remained tame- and even THEN it wouldn’t change much!)
Well. Whatever! Sachiko wasn’t one to waste a situation. Shaking her head as though to physically clear away the thoughts she approached a nearby attendant, humming softly to herself as she checked out what breakfast items were available before actually coming out with:
“Weeeeell… I can’t say I really get this, so I… guess it can’t really mean much? Hee…”
The girl who’d just… more or less collapsed on the floor from all of this hadn’t escaped Sachiko’s attention. But she was decided in this nonetheless for now!

shslamericano:
Ouuut of sight, ouuut of mind! At least, that’s what Mari would have liked, but the image of a motionless Akihito still lingered if she let her mind drift. In fact, his lack of presence made it all the more unsettling. Sooo much for that saying. That meant distractions were all the more welcomed if they could preoccupy her. The castle provided plenty of that. From the elegant clothes that Mari had definitely eyed in her closet to the lavish ballroom she hoped to dance away in to, well, everything in general it was a castle after all, there was so much to explore in comparison to where she had initially found herself in. And explore she did!
Hopping from one room to the next, Mari’s adventure was put on hold as she caught ear of notes from a piano. A pitter patter of noise, nothing strung together in a melodic sense, but it was there nonetheless. She followed after it, idly humming along to each pang from a key, until she found herself in the music room.
A girl, who she vaaaguely recalled from maaaaybe being famous Mari wasn’t quite sure on that. She looked familiar, and the model was bound to put a finger on it someday! Hopefully., had been spotted at the piano! AHA! Found the culprit red-handed.
Mari grinned triumphantly, planting her hands on her hips.
“Hufufu! Mari caught { U } though! It was, like, a { R-L-Y } nice sound though! Mari could tell you were having a lotta { F-U-N }, and that’s what matters!”
She gave a firm nod at that before skipping on over to join Sachiko near the piano.
“Mari wants the prize to be joining your { B-A-N-D }! Since y’know, like, Mari wants in on { T-H-I-S }.”
Let her in. Let her in. Let her in.
Even though Sachiko wasn’t really the kind of person to be too taken aback by whatever type of person wandered in on her at a casual time like this (even if there was apparently a chance that they could be a demon, but no, Sachiko absolutely wasn’t concerned about that!), if pressed, she would have had to admit: she was... fairly glad that the sudden intruder appeared to be someone in the same upbeat sense as her. If it had been someone in... well, the same absolute state that she had been in when all of this had kicked off and she’d ended up crying to Masaharu, Sachiko wouldn’t have had a clue what to do!
Besides. Someone brighter was much easier to hang out with in this situation too!
The new girl’s - Mari, Sachiko guessed - giggling also set Sachiko off too, relaxing from her moment of hesitation upon being caught and putting a bright grin on her face at Mari’s own dramatic actions. The second the other girl skipped over to join her Sachiko gathered the skirts of her dress into her arms and held them out of the way, scooting along too so more of the piano stool was exposed for Mari to sit on. if she wanted.
“Hee hee! Aw! Thank you! I really like the piano, honestly- I thiiiiink if I’d ACTUALLY sat down to learn a musical instrument, it might have been piano? I know my Mama practised for a little while... orrrr maybe violin or something! That looks pretty dramatic sometimes, hee.”
Mari’s mentioning of a band got Sachiko to think for a moment, putting a finger to her cheek and tilting her head, before snapping into a decision and smiling brightly again. She moved that finger to press a few more piano keys for good measure, nodding in satisfaction.
“Of course though! It’s not like I have anything complicated going on here that you couldn’t join in on! Ummm, you can play - kinda, hee - the piano too if you want, orrrr there’s LOTS of other instruments in here- I haven’t tried any other yet, but I’m sure they work just as well!”
She would have been all set to just go right on ahead with this ‘band’ setup, had catching Mari in her eye not suddenly reminded Sachiko of something.
“Oh! I’m guessing you’reeee Mari, right? I’m Sachiko Mori! I hope we can along! And make a really good band, hee.”

shslteuthologist:
Oh boy, indeed.
Masaharu opened his mouth partway, even though he had nothing to say yet.
(What do we even do now?)
(Good question, actually.)
Still, he had approached her, and he felt compelled to say something at least a little more reassuring than “I don’t know”. He tried to find gaps to speak between her sobs, keeping his voice level. Projecting the ultimate image of calm authority.
Tumblr media
“… We find a way out, ultimately.”
thanks
"In the meantime, of course, we’ll have to be careful of… whatever may happen next. Protect our… regalia, I think they’re called. Honestly, I don’t know if we have enough information now to come up with a plan of action…
Tumblr media
“But I firmly believe we can find an exit. And I’ll remain committed to that until this place is long behind us.”
His expression softened.
”… By the way, I don’t believe we’ve met. I’m Masaharu Nakai. What’s your name?”
Granted, it would be kind of hard for him to not know her name, but it was still polite to ask.
Sachiko could have cried, honestly- well, more than she was already doing, anyway. But at least this time it would have been in a sense of relief: even if the girl’s desperately hopeful and tear-ridden expression hadn’t exactly lessened up by the time her new companion had started to speak, just the fact that he was offering something was enough to stop the hitches of her chest being quite as large. The reassuring voice was just a bonus, honestly; admittedly a bonus that could have prompted Sachiko to cling to his arm or something, but instead she just... slowly picked her shoulders up a little.
More than enough, really.
With a slow, shaky breath, Sachiko finally managed to take a swipe at her tears to try and rub them away, though her voice was a little lacking in its usual energy even as she tried to fumble through her usual introduction with a hint of a smile.
Tumblr media
“I-it’s nice to meet you, Nakai-chan... hope we c-can get along..! Hee, it’s not often someone asks for my name... I’m Sachiko Mori. I’m, um... here for playing badminton, I think..!”
(...There was a nag on his name, there- but she’d figure it out later.)
“H-how do we, um... find more information, though? To, um... make a plan, or whatever? I can- I can run round th-this whole place again like I did the last one, b-but that just... spoke for this place, I guess... and there wasn’t a-an exit over there anyway-!”
Her voice pitched a little and threatened to crack, but ultimately Sachiko pulled it back without any incident other than hanging her head.
Tumblr media
“I... don’t know about you, but um, I... think my regalia should be safe, um... hee, I don’t think it’s as... easily breakable. Ohh, I don’t- I don’t understand how something like that can just happen- I-I’ve been one of those saying this was magic the whole time, but this is just... this is just impossibly nasty-!”
Seemed like she was about three seconds away from working herself up into tears again. Hell.

Sachiko Mori was not one much for just curling up with a book somewhere. That was a statement long accepted as fact on multiple levels to the girl’s life, from the fact that ‘curling up’ generally implies some dedication to staying still for an extended period of time to... well, she just wasn’t interested in trying.
Didn’t mean she couldn’t still appreciate a place like a library though! Okay, so she wasn’t exactly partaking in what it had to offer at all conventionally, but really- what did that matter? If she was having a good time in a space, Sachiko declared whatever she was up a good use of her time, generally expected or not. So she could look around! See how pretty everything was in this incredible castle! Maybe slide down a stair rail or something if they happened to have stairs in here! Anything went, really!
(Especially in terms of ignoring their situation!)
To her credit, however, she did at least manage to follow the conventional rules of silence in the library the entire time she was creeping around in awe- at least until she heard her name called, clear as day from a person she’d just quietly sworn to maaaaaaybe just walk past and see if they wanted to talk rather than bound up and interrupt in here. It was something that prompted a small eek! from the girl at its suddenness to her, though she did relax near-instantly and smooth out her wide-eyed expression into an almost teasing grin.
Tumblr media
“Hee hee! Would have been a little awkward if you’d been wrong on my name, huh? Hee, I guess that’s kiiiiiinda hard with me sometimes though...”
She didn’t sound particularly bragging, but she didn’t sound incredibly mournful either, Sachiko maintaining a solidly neutral (for her cheery voice, anyway) tone to just phrase it as a simple fact of her life- and besides, it wasn’t even focused on for that long anyway, Sachiko all but bounding over to stand by her sudden conversation partner’s side by the shelf.
“But um, not really! Looking for anything, that is- I guess a someone will do just fine though! Hee hee! Nice to meet you! I’m- ohh, hee. You did that already. Weeeell... I hope we can get along!”
With the silence in the library rule totally dead, Sachiko turned to the bookshelf before them and swept her pink gaze over it, frowning in apparent consideration of the titles on there even though she didn’t appear to linger anywhere in particular.
“Were you looking for something though? Wooooow, I guess you could have been in here for a WHILE if you were, right? Or maybe not, hee. I don’t really come to libraries or anything- so for all I know, there’s a reaaaaaally quick way of finding what you want in here! Unless you don’t stay in this kind of place either much...”
This was getting a little circular. But Sachiko didn’t seem to care.
正其末者端其本 | usami | [ATTN: sachiko]
—— THERE IS A BEAUTY in just about anything you look at. The caretaker decides, in a situation where everyone is stressed and it is not clear whether or not he should do anything, ( working in a hospital was much more clear than in a castle ) that it is best he give them some time. He is without his best gifts here regardless. He recalls on his way that there were some roses but hardly anything he could work with.
…Besides, he preferred cheering up people with his own cultivated efforts, not by simply borrowing someone else’s and renaming it to be his own.
The brunet seeks out his solace in the library, pleasantly embraced by the scent of paper. Though they say some become tranquil in these areas, there’s a definite boyish excitement that flickers and dances across his eyes at seeing the tremendous towering heights of books all about him.
He gliding his fingers across the spines of tomes set across in neat rows on shelves, fascinated by their feel and their titles. He knows precisely what he’s looking for, but he hesitates on selecting any one book.
He hears the pitter-patter of steps, heels ( wedges, he offers as another possibility ) he wagers, and he turns to the newcomer, sifting through his mental archive of research to recall the name of this twin-tailed athlete.
❝ Sachiko Mori– ❞
The name rolls off his tongue and he’s only certain of it once he’s already declared it. He converts it into a greeting, working a soft smile across his countenance.

She could have been standing there crying for five minutes or five hours, for all Sachiko knew- because that was just where she was right now, completely stuck in this sense of upset panic that had settled over her mind and was insisting on making it replay everything that had just happened over and over.
(Someone was dead- a kid was actually properly properly dead and okay they’d talked about this situation but- having it actually happen-)
Which was why it was so, so much of a relief when someone else’s voice broke through it- even if she did likely look surprised as all hell, head whipping up from where it had ducked somewhat and sending her twintails bouncing as she turned to look at the newcomer with widened eyes- someone she hadn’t actually talked to yet, which was still enough to put a spark of energy behind her words even through continued tears.
Even if she did just launch straight into the heart of the matter.
Tumblr media
“H-he’s, um... he’s really d-dead, isn’t he? I-I’ve never seen- all he did w-was break something but we’re... b-but we’ve all got th-the same stuff, haven’t we? A-and we’re actually going to- we’re stuck here l-like he was too or something, b-but... what do we e-even do now-!”
This did absolutely nothing to answer his question, rather pose a more desperate one of her own, but Sachiko didn’t seem to realise before a hiccup started a fresh round of tears.
They didn’t get buried in her hands now though, that action being traded in favour of... looking to Masaharu’s eyes with the rather desperate but hopeful expression of a crying child starting to wonder if a parent might say they’re not in as much trouble as they thought they were.
Oh boy.
Chapter 1 || everything happens so much || Masaharu [@ The Bullshit, Sachiko]
Of course Masaharu followed the noise. It was the first sign of change in the time since they’d arrived — however many hours that had been, god, he couldn’t even tell — so he followed, and he listened, and he watched, and —
Tumblr media
“Oh, god.”
There were no authoritative, reassuring words. Somebody died right in front of him, and all that he could do was stand there as his chest turned to ice.
(At least now he’d gotten his explanation for why they were here.)
Everything after that was a blur. Toka’s explanation. Arriving at Edel’s castle. The girl in the mirror reappearing. Masaharu strained his ears and did his best to keep up, but his mind’s eye kept creeping back to how that boy with the umbrella looked in his final moments
Akihito Toujo. No use pretending he didn’t know who he was. Akihito Toujo was, for all intents and purposes, dead.
(… Fucking hell.)
The sound of choked sobbing jolted Masaharu out of his musings, and, without thinking, he approached the source. A blonde girl in a white dress who seemed to be… really having a rough go of it.
Tumblr media
“… Excuse me, is there… anything I can do to help?”
His voice was calm, as though he was trying not to let the others present know he was talking.

(o*゜∇゜)o~♪♪ ♥ sachiko ♥ chapter 1 ♥ attn: mari
Honestly, it would be a lie to say that Sachiko had completely recovered from the events that had brought them to this castle. That would be jumping the gun far too much, considering everything that had happened.
But she did have to admit: finding a guest room full of her things (first time too! Which WAS pretty lucky, she had to admit, unless it was magic again!) had done a bit of work in cheering her back up into some sense of feeling normal. And she also had to admit that just lolling around in that room was only going to hype her up more and drive her some sense of crazy, and so Sachiko had taken herself out exploring- once she’d picked a handbag to pack and reunite herself with anyways.
Besides. An actual castle?
This was MUCH more her thing!
(Running away? Nahhhhh.)
Her current loop of exploration had taken her into the music room for now, and even though Sachiko was only very partially aligned with music at this stage in her life, the actual sight of the grand room was enough to make the girl pause in the doorway akin to a child entering a large toy store for the first time- she didn’t know where to start with all this, honestly!
In the end, after a few moments of deliberation, Sachiko made for the simplest choice: a quick run across the room and the girl was sliding herself onto the seat at the grand piano, taking another moment to drop her bag by the seat and sweep her gaze across the whole line of keys with a giggle before juuuuuust…
Reaching out and pressing one, letting a low note ring around the room.
Then the next note up. And the next.
The next two together then, just for the full effect of a cat walking across the keyboard.
She kept on at this for a few moments longer, just pressing random notes up and down the scale to hear them ring out with some air of amusement- until turning her head to reach right out to the top end of the piano let her catch sight of someone in the doorway, and she paused abruptly to focus on them. Her call out to the other girl didn’t exactly sound shy, but could have been classed as wavering just a bit in sheepishness at least.
“Hee, sorry, sorry..! I didn’t reaaaally catch you there because- well, I was playing this and didn’t hear-!”
Sachiko idly hit another key, just to prove the point further.
“Weeeeell, maybe playing is too nice a term, hee…”

(((><))) ♥ sachiko ♥ chapter 1 ♥ re: ch1 start
It would have been easy, it would have been so, so easy to just ignore whatever sound was coming from so nearby and try to get on with what she was doing- just circling around and meeting people, talking and laughing with them, occasionally stopping to think on her new situation but brushing it off no problem at all with her company…
That was Sachiko’s first thought anyway, even as she picked herself up- but soon enough the idea of following along became a much simpler one, even among her suddenly renewed fears, and so she went along with it all too.
And for a moment or two, it was just confusion.
Nothing bad, so to speak- besides, there were so many other people here, and a lot that had been proven as nice! Sachiko might have given a wave to some she’d spoken to many hours ago, had the entire atmosphere not been so subduing.
But then a boy - a young, young looking boy - started to die.
Sachiko’s reaction was instinctive, something twisting in her gut the second she saw that golden umbrella start to snap, even before he’d started to clutch at his heart- a high pitched scream came from the girl, not at all muffled by the hands she clapped over her mouth in shock- completely taken by trainwreck syndrome and thoughts too frantic suddenly to give her any kind of urge-
oh god
It was only shellshock, really, that kept Sachiko from letting tears loose immediately even though her eyes had already started to sting; shellshock and the fact that everything just- became a whirlwind of sorts.
Things tied to their actual lives- demons- glances thrown to people who were just completely blank slates- whatever that entire fall and show was- only those who survive-
oh god oh god oh god
She had been on the edge for some time, among everything.
But it was only when everything finally came a halt and they were all left alone again that Sachiko Mori finally tipped over it.
Much like her earlier scream, it was a sound surely noticeable to even those stood nowhere near her. Every sight and shock she had just experienced slammed into her heart at once, and she just- inhaled sharply and let go of it with a loud sob.
Then another.
Annnnnd another, and so on and so forth, a shaking hand going to her mouth but doing nothing to stop the rest of her body trembling nor mask any loud sobs or hiccups. If anyone was looking to her here she didn’t quite seem to notice, pink gaze fixed entirely in the space in front of her, but… not really appearing to see.
It… seemed like Sachiko might be stood here for a little while.
(…)
(How… hard would it be to actually go along with it..?)

shslfans:
Given the delighted reaction he received, Katsurou couldn’t help but chuckle lightly as well. In the midst of all this confusion, it was really nice to indulge yourself in a pleasant conversation with someone who shared your enthusiasm. It definitly brightened the mood, which was more than welcome.
He stood perfectly still when Sachiko took a closer look at his hair, eagerly awaiting her response to his inquiry. The fan maker was convinced that she would definitely have good advice for hair, because she honestly just seemed like someone who knew what they were doing when it came to that!
And lo and behold, he wasn’t disappointed when he heard her answer; even more so when she even tried to show him what she meant! Merely picturing a cute, wavy little ponytail on himself brought another delighted giggle out of him. Now he really wanted to do that and see how it would look on him!
“I see what you mean, darling! Oh, I can’t wait to actually style my hair like this - it’s going to be marvelous~!”
If this were an anime, you would’ve definitely been able to see some sparkles around his face at this point. But alas, this was reality, so none of that happened.
“Oh, that makes sense! I think I would do the same if I would’ve had famous parents myself, ehehe~! It’s always good to satisfy your curiousity, is it not?”
And soon after his little fan talk was over, did Sachiko admit that she was also missing her bag. Well, it made sense and he wouldn’t be surprised if even more people were missing their bags or other essentials. Hopefully, no one was missing something that they really needed, like medicine and the likes… Ohhhh, that wouldn’t be good at all!
“I know exactly what you mean! If I’m outside, then I usually always carry a bag with me - not only for my fan, but also for other stuff as well! It’s so weird not having this familiar weight with me now… I truly hope the both of us can find our bags soon!”
He offered her a reassuring smile, but then went back to an almost bashful state when Sachiko was praising him for his intended gestures if his bag would’ve been with him. The blush on his cheeks deepened, yet he desperately tried to maintain his posture from before - albeit his face still betrayed his apparently confident state.
(Didn’t help that one hand went automatically to the back of his head to rub it, even without him realizing at first.)
“Oh, I’m not nearly being as sweet as you are right now, Mori-chan! You’re making me blush here, ehehehe~!”
… No shit, Sherlock, she already managed to do that anyway.
“Well, I do have this fan here, buuuuut as you can see, it got this golden teint to it… even though it perfectly matched my outfit before. I wonder why it is like this to begin with… You also have something on your person that is suddenly golden now?”
Oh, but couldn’t forget about the last pat that Sachiko said!
“Oh, now that you mention it, you did also mention a badminton racquet before… soooo, does this mean you’re a badminton player? Ohhhh, that’s so cool! I always liked playing it when we had it in PE!”
The fact that Katsurou was so engaged in the conversation too did wonders for keeping Sachiko naturally energetic too, his own chuckles encouraging another giggle from her like some kind of back and forth. Well, what could she say! Weird situations aside, this was really fun! And he was actually going along with her too- the way he stood still to let her check out his hair didn't go missed by Sachiko, and it helped her smile be even brighter by the time she'd come back round to face him again.
"Hee hee! I'm glad you see- I think it could be really cute! Ohhhh, if I had any of my things with me or knew where they were, I'd offer to help show you THAT way... you know! Actually do your hair for you! Well... maybe someday!"
Perhaps a little forward, to just invite herself into someone's future right away like that when they'd only just met- but Katsurou did seem really excited about the whole idea, so why not try and be friendly that way too?
Still, she simmered down a little bit once they took a break from the hair discussion; no less joyful than usual for this conversation, but less excitable, more explaining.
"Yes, I suppose it is! It's always just interesting to me because weeeell... if they DON'T know me through my parents, then maybe it's something I've done! So I get curious to find out exactly what that might be, hee."
She could have gone on, honestly, and for a moment it sounded like Sachiko would; her mouth slightly open as though it were about to form another word or ten. But they changed topics quickly once again, annnnd she could help but let out a small giggle at Katsurou's flustered reaction, and he was starting to ask questions that she could DEFINITELY answer, so the whole concept was lost incredibly quickly.
"Hee hee! Aw, thank you, Kon-chan! But stop it, you ARE being sweet! But yes..! I have a LOT of things I like - or need! - to carry around with me, so I'm really missing those... even my bubblegum is gone... uwaa..."
But this was no time to get a little mournful! Spurred on by the prospect of proving her knowledge, Sachiko perked right back up again, leaning forwards where she stood a bit in order to inspect the fan that Katsurou was showing off.
"Oh! Yes, I see! I have the same issue though, look-"
And she straightened back up again and held her left arm out - daintily, hand pointed as though she expected Katsurou to kiss it - showing off a golden charm bracelet; solid looking, to show it was a fairly expensive piece of jewellery.
"Uwaa... I've always preferred it silver, honestly! Buuuut I have no idea why it's like this either- I just... found it like this? Though I have no idea why I even let go of it in the first place! I’ve had this for so long now, and I’ve only ever taken it off for swimming or showering or the like so it doesn’t get ruined- so I REALLY have no idea why it might be like this now!"
Questions and being slightly mournful about bracelets aside though!
"But yes! You're right- I'm a badminton player! That's my main thing, hee. I actually found out I really liked playing it in PE too! Is that the only time you play it?"
Sweet and fabulous~! | Katsurou | Prologue | ATTN: Sachiko
