FYI men are still required to sign up for the draft at 18 and those sent to die are disproportionately low income and POC-- and now there’s discussion of forcing women into the draft as well, but apparently 23,000+ folks on Tumblr take glee in this?

Also, when feminists portray men as inherently predatory or violent all they're doing is reinforcing the most evil stereotypes used demonize/ostracize men who belong to racial, sexual, and religious minorities. I wholeheartedly agree that men can be better, however, the person who said "men need to fix their shit" grossly oversimplified the situation, because society as a whole has failed at risk boys/men. They face significantly higher school drop rates, and much higher rates of homelessness, suicide, incarceration (many non violent offenses), substance abuse, overdose deaths, and homicide victimhood. Not surprisingly the boys/men who disproportionately fall through the cracks are POC, LGBTQ and low income as society largely deems them disposable. In short, if as a society, we truly want to uplift boys/men, we need to nurture them early on and treat them like they’re worth investing in, along with dismantling oppressive institutions like the school to prison pipeline. In the meantime, feminists are only making matters worse when they perpetuate close minded and often hateful attitudes, which unfortunately, has become commonplace (especially on social media)

Men are not inherently violent, predatory, or dangerous. Any feminist project worthy of the name needs to acknowledge that this behavior is taught. The idea of men being biologically predisposed to being abusers or rapists is actively used against abuse and rape survivors / victims (does the phrase “boys will be boys” ring a bell at all to you?) and will never, ever work in our favor.

There's a lot of discussion about the patriarchy and understandably so but above all else the most oppressive force in society is the White establishment which unfortunately White feminist contribute to by constantly putting white women on pedestals while undermining men of color. When Emma threw shade, one of the nominees was Mexican and another African American (for a film dealing with racism) & Joon-ho is the first Korean director nominated (for a film with an all-Asian cast). Apparently some feminists love Gerwig and her White femalecentric films because they're willing to dismiss POC on her behalf. It's a shame how often White feminists prioritize the interests of White women above others but it's truly a shame when POC buy into these narratives. 9 of the 10 actress  nominees in ‘20 were White women and 0 non-White males were nominated yet many of the headlines about lack of representation instead focused on Gerwig being overlooked.

Gender stereotypes are terrible but the claim that girls are falling behind academically in the US is false. Males actually have 33% lower HS & college graduation rates and the gap is even greater among boys from low income backgrounds. Numerous studies have found boys learn differently than girls through active participation yet little action has been taken to address their educational needs. FYI: studies have shown male teachers are more adept at dealing with boys yet 90% of elementary school teachers are female thus many boys, particularly those most at risk, grow up without a male role model either at home or in the classroom. Not to mention the school to prison pipeline many low income (especially Black and Brown) young males face. 

Little girls start believing gender stereotypes by age 6. 

A 2017 study found the stereotype of brilliance being more associated with men influences children as young as 6, an age when girls begin to ignore activities that are said to be for ‘smart people’. 

At age 5, the kids in the study saw both genders as equals, but by age 6, the girls thought of the boys as more intelligent and avoided playing games intended for ‘really, really smart’ kids.

In a study women also rated photos of smiling men LESS attractive than brooding/unhappy men. In another study women were LESS drawn to men who were open about their feelings than those who were guarded. Feminists often criticize men over “toxic masculinity” when in reality women and society in general plays a key role in policing male behavior. If a man displays vulnerability or a gentle or passive disposition it’s perceived by some as a weakness therefore makes them less respected/desirable in their eyes. I’m not sure why people are taken aback by these results considering some women will reject a guy over trivial things like being an inch or two shorter than whatever ideal they conjured up in their mind and consider them to not be a “real man” because of it. The reality is there are lots of close minded people in those world, both male and female.

Studies show “being nice” makes women appear more attractive to men, but it makes men look less attractive to women.

This post is entirely tone deaf. Trump incites violence against POC like labeling Men of Color rapists and he has White women to thank for electing him yet White feminists are having a laugh with their “all men are terrible” messages which disproportionately impact men of color who already face a great deal of hostility. In many ways White women on both the left and right represent two sides of the same coin: both put White women on pedestals while demonizing MOC (in addition to disregarding WOC). And before White feminists say “it’s not that serious”-- it may not be serious to you, but it is very serious to the many men of color who face issues like the school to prison pipeline and are treated like their lives have little worth.

I support the USWNT over pay equality but US women's soccer is far from a paradise due to the pay to play aspect which excludes many low income/POC  youth hence the overwhelmingly White composition of the team. But sadly many White feminists are unable to relate to those outside their bubbles which also explains their call to “cancel” men’s sports even though it's played a key role in advancing civil rights issues like tackling the “color line” and raising issues like police brutality. In addition it’s served as a life saver for many POC males who face issues like the school to prison pipeline which most White women can’t even even begin to fathom – and yes there are many LGBTQ males who find inspiration in sports as well. It’s frustrating having to constantly explain this to privileged White feminists (including those within the LGBTQ community who tend to equate men with “straight white males” and feminism/LGBTQ activism to ‘white women issues”).

The question is: can we even enjoy men’s sports anymore with all its heterosexual male bullshit now that we have all been to lesbian sport paradise?

Rowe is also a Trump apologist who praised him for his “authenticity” so f#ck him. He claimed it was a “dangerous” sign that Democrats were unwilling to stand for him during the SOTU speech. But he somehow doesn’t find it dangerous for Trump to embrace White nationalism and attack & threaten retribution against minorities, immigrants, the free press, judges, political opponents, intelligence officials and our very institutions of democracy.

When Dirty Jobs star Mike Rowe saw that Nordstrom was selling $425 jeans covered in fake ‘mud’, he got extremely annoyed. Also, many are unaware that cowboy traditions originated from Hispanic “vaqueros” that lived along the Southwest and Northern Mexico, generations before the arrival of White Americans. The “Western saddle” was introduced by vaqueros and words like lariat, coral, chaps are Spanish words. Even after the US annexed the Southwest, 1/3 of all cowboys remained Mexican vaqueros by some estimates.

This, also keep in mind that the “American cowboy” has been exaggerated greatly by Hollywood and popular myth - it was really only a twenty/thirty year period in the mid-19th century that essentially ended around the American civil war when barbed wire was introduced and eliminated the need for them.

Both are shitty attitudes. Btw the men who say they won’t “allow” their daughters to date until 30, often do so because they hold patriarchal views about women remaining chaste until marriage. *oblivious white feminist detected* Male bisexuality is far more stigmatized in society and women play a significant role in reinforcing it, so it's not simply a matter of men "getting over themselves". A study by a popular woman's magazine found that while their readers held increasingly open minded attitudes about their sexualities, a majority said they'd reject a guy who had a same sex experience. Essentially, such men are perceived to have compromised their masculinity therefore deemed undesirable by many women. It's not just straight women who hold this view either: when bi, sex positive activist Amber Rose got into a heated exchange with Kanye, she referred to him by a homophobic slur over alleged backdoor sexual activities he engaged in even though she was the other participant (TMI but you get the point). During my time on okcupid I noticed many non-straight & bi identifying women (looking to meet men) would answer NO to the question about whether they’d date a man who had a same sex encounter in his past.(See pic below)

It's no coincidence that bi men who openly acknowledge their identity often skew more towards the gay end of the spectrum as their prospects of finding love aren't as dependent on meeting women's narrow definitions of masculinity. Meanwhile, other men who struggle with it have valid concerns about being shunned. So it seems trite and cheap for feminists to go around attacking these men when they already face incredible amounts of stigma, but then again, cheap and misdirected attacks are the norm from tumblr feminists.

An example of people assuming the grass on the other side of the fence to be greener. In reality lesbians face relationship pitfalls as well because people are people.Their divorce rates are at least comparable to those of straight couples & there’s evidence they may be higher. In the Netherlands, one of the 1st countries to legalize same sex marriage, lesbians were significantly more likely to divorce than straight couples over a 10yr span and a similar trend was found in Vermont, one of the 1st states to legalize same sex unions. Interestingly, male same sex couples consistently had lower divorce rates (oftentimes half those of female same sex couples) despite the commonly held perception of gay men being less relationship oriented than lesbians, which just shows you can’t go by stereotypes.

A group of White women should be called “complicit” considering the majority voted Trump. Tumblr feminists need to stop with this tribalist feminist mentality as neither men nor women are monolithic groups. 42% of adult millennials are POC, and when you include those that are LGBTQ and other marginalized groups that number exceeds half.

Meanwhile, the White female majority elected Trump. So yes, oppression at the hands of White women/men is already an everyday reality for many of us. White feminists can be just as bad as they often engage in *indiscriminate* male bashing even though it further marginalizes men of color. They undermine women of color as well as they frequently monopolize and frame conversations about empowerment around themselves while treating women of color as an afterthought (if not disregarding them altogether). Instead of constantly putting themselves on pedestals, White women should try to take a step back and view the world from outside of your lily White bubbles.
