Because I'm a cognitively disabled transgender who thinks it's important that intellectually disabled people are listened to and respected, I end up making friends with a lot of intellectually disabled transgender people and the amount of people who WANT a medical transition but can't access it due to caregivers or guardians is TOO DAMN HIGH.

We need to find better ways to support decision making and consent. We need to help people make their own goals and then reach them. Not just in gender transition but in life all around. What a medical team or guardian wants for someone doesn't always cover everything a person could want out of life.

But I much more fancy that we just accept weird people point blank. They don't need to share a diagnosis. They don't need to make themselves smaller just to fit into the world.

Cuz, as a late diagnosed autistic, my weird ass could have used just acceptance. Regardless of why I was weird.

in all seriousness, a few resources i think are helpful with regards to understanding just how thoroughly henry kissinger screwed the world over:

kissinger by behind the bastards. this is a 6 part series done by the podcast behind the bastards, with the hosts of the dollop on as guests. it's super funny and a very accessible foothold into understanding the scope of kissinger's vast career.

kissinger's shadow by greg grandin. this book provides an in-depth analysis of kissinger's tenure in the white house, covering both how he got into office, the changes he made in office, the policies he put forth, and their repercussions on the world.

the trial of henry kissinger by christopher hitchins. while grandin's book focuses less on the specificities of kissinger's crimes, hitchins has no such qualms and details each of them in depth.

i truly think understanding kissinger, the way he thought, and the things that he did, are all indispensable when it comes to understanding the modern political climate and how foreign policy works in america and therefore, by necessity, in the world at large. the sheer amount of damage he was responsible for should never be underestimated.

I’m not helping you lift that box/etc because my disability would make it fucking painful. Not wanting to be in pain is a good enough reason. All jokes aside I really do see 9/11 as one of the truly most evil and cursed events to happen in human history. Not because of the people who died in the actual attacks - easily dwarfed by a countless list of crimes against humanity and mass acts of violence the US alone commits every year just to sustain itself - but because of their fallout and the world order they produced. My entire life more or less has been lived in the shadow of forever wars, of the national security state, of ever-increasing militarism, of the so-called "Middle East" being torn and retorn apart over and over and over again and it getting worse with every single reconfiguration. There isn't going to be a way out until the entire US empire collapses under its own weight, and until then we'll all continue to suffocate.

idk what cis woman needs to hear this but trans women aren't your enemy. they share your struggle against misogyny, even thought it's sometimes in different ways. it's all misogyny!! physical and sexual violence, judgement and coercion surrounding appearance, genetalia, and gender performance, poor access to healthcare, violence at the hands of men specifically, fetishization, etc. trans women are women who happen to be in an even more vulnerable position than other women. misogyny affects us ALL and excluding trans women from feminist spaces-- or worse, blaming them for violence against women-- will never be radical or revolutionary. you're just denying support and resources to an extremely vulneravle group of women.
