Sickness.

A life-threating monster.

Not only does it attack the body, but sometimes, even the heart as well. How terrifying.

This is a story about a sickness that touched my heart.

If you face that monster, I’m sure you will understand the reason why we can meet.

I believe, that… it should be possible.

I should walk on my own feet and go to school, participate in P.E. classes and not skip classes too often.

I’m a high school student. That it is. One year ago I couldn’t even imagine to live a life like that. Since my childhood I got sick rather easily. Most of the time, I stayed in the hospital, so I couldn’t enjoy my school life. But now, it’s different. Three months ago, I was discharged and my older brother said:

“Congratulations, Ichika. You’re okay, now.”

They said I was healed. No need to worry about it anymore. I can live a life that is not different from others.

Is it really that simple…?

(It seems like a dream.)

In the last three months, my body feels like nothing.

Collapsing in the morning assembly, shortness of breath when I climbed the stairs… It lies in the past. I still can’t believe that I made it through the three months, without taking a break from school. How was I able to do that? I moved up to the next grade. What will I do now?

Second graders have a lot of things they want to do. I want to be like them! A good friend… I wonder if I could become one. That’s what I was thinking about on my way back home. Until now, I felt sorry for being hospitalized that often, so I kept a distance from my friends. Now, I want to give them something back… Because they always took care of me. Well then,
