Fraxus Week Day 7 : Family

This is clearly my fav prompt for this Fraxus Week !

This panel was pretty clear in my head when I read the prompt list, I needed to give these two an adorable little girl… who can destroy the guild with the others children 🤭 I think she is a good mix of Freed and Laxus !

Her name is simple, but I’m proud of it 😌

just thinking about iwaizumi making tiktoks. nearly all of his videos feature homemade recipes, from vibrant yogurt bowls to stunning pieces of sushi. only his hands are ever shown, skillfully handling knives, carefully peeling garlic, easily pouring the chopped vegetables into the pot, stirring mixtures in pans by the handle, cracking eggs with one hand, rhythmically beating the mixtures with a whisk, kneading dough with firm precision.

he has an overwhelming number of followers and tens of thousands of comments on every video. but despite the frenzy he’s caused (especially since he did a face reveal a few months ago), everyone knows that Iwaizumi is completely taken because in each video is always the same caption that says 'pov: your boyfriend wants this for breakfast/lunch/snack/dinner.' and, in the last few seconds of each video, his boyfriend, Oikawa Tooru, always appears—happily smiling as he takes a bite before giving his stamp of approval with puffed cheeks.

fuck it. thunder legion headcannon notes page reveal as i nearly accidentally deleted it last time i tried to update it and its slowly delved into more and more hyper specific madneas with each new addition

*Bixlow is an incredibly picky eater, but Freed will eat just about anything.

*Evergreen stress shops, Freed stress cooks, and Bixlow stress eats. very efficient system. noone cleans. less efficient

*obviously freed takes rules EXTREMELY seriously, but only the ones he agrees with. he does not give a fuck about general laws, but he does care about ones imposed by a figure of authority he respects (not many)

*on that note, hes infamous with the rune knights because they literally cannot apprehend him. the second they blink, hes undone the jutsu shiki and is outta there. they’ve basically given up at this point

*freed has perfected the irish goodbye, and trained the thunder legion in it too. laxus however, is a hopeless case. he’ll just turn around and walk away mid conversation

*thunder legion? ideal blunt rotation. theyre yappin for hours. any weird ass question you think about? freed could probably answer it. evergreen’s your BESTIE who will back you up and die for you on any hill. bixlow becomes the single greatest comedian in a 50 mile radius

*freed and bixlow share an apartment together. evergreen technically has her room in fairy hills but that spare bedroom has enough of her stuff in to be considered hers

*bixlow uses he/it pronouns. he came into my house and told me

*evergreen is a trans woman and came out shortly after meeting freed and bix. one advantage to being such an outsider in the guild meant noone realised she’d transitioned. not many people know, only makarov, laxus & the thunder legion, and elfman. she wouldnt mind other people knowing but it never really came up and what does it matter really. shes still the prettiest

(when she came out to elfman she was extremely nervous about what he’d say (or that hed say something about it being manly) but he excitedly told her that it was “so womanly!”)

*they can all sing to some degree. evergreen still has the “teenaged girl showing off” voice and freed’s is like butter (seriously have you heard junichi suwabe sing? if i wasnt aro id be deeply in love with that man). bixlow, however, actively chooses to sound awful

*echolalia. they ALL have echolalia. its a nightmare sometimes

*evergreen is the single most talented braider in the entire guild

*bixlow is the only one who can correctly portion out pasta. he chooses not to.

i gotta say, whist fraxus is easily the most popular freed ship, and one i have always loved, recently ive started preferring bixfreed, if only due to the fact that it’s one of the only gay freed ships where he’s not made into the “flamboyant one”. thats bixlow. noone is out flamboyanting bixlow, and he never loses any masculinity despite it.

ive always hated how common it is for freed to be completely mischaracterised (not even flanderised hes just straight up not the same character anymore) in most gay ships. people seem to really love making him a “damsel in distress” type, especially with fraxus, i can only assume because laxus is so stereotypically masculine.

this really seems to only be an issue with gay ships including freed (although it is especially egregious with fraxus, and a LOT of old miraxus media. no im not getting into that.)

ive never seen a ship involving freed and a woman that has this issue. he’s almost always presented as this suave intellectual, a gentleman, someone independent, but who chooses to help others. (i personally headcanon freed to be gay so its always a little annoying seeing him being characterised so much better in many of these straight ships lol)

anyway back to bixfreed

its always fun seeing freed have to act as the straightman (lol) to bixlow, and it further helps bixlow’s own character. its so good to see a man be presented as wearing typically feminine things (his skirt and nail polish), and be so willing to be silly, to goof around, to hang off ceilings, and yet not once is his masculinity compromised.

I’ve seen a great deal of fanart of freed where i genuinely thought he’d been genderbent. Freed is still a masculine character, but so many fans just see his eyelashes and hair, and throughout the series mashima just fed into this, especially in the anime, with multiple “gags” of him fawning over laxus, to the point where fans started comparing him to juvia (also someone who was flanderised to the point of being unrecognisable.)

im not even sure what my point in this rant is anymore im just so tired of this mischaracterisation. you can have a character be gay without forcing stereotypes onto them so much it becomes homophobic. im BEGGING just leave this in 2016

was about to ask where the assumption comes from that Laxus may be a manwhore or anything like that but I think we know.

but if one paid attention to any of his character growth/his true character showing more and more as the manga goes on one should really come to the conclusion that this was a mask worn to assert a sense of false power and dominance.

people out there really believing that Laxus was 'tearing shit up' at Blue Pegasus, it's a bit amusing. I'm sorry (I'm not) to rob you of this illusion of Laxus being a big bad womanizer but... I mean all the power to you if you choose this for your portrayal but what we can mostly read out of canon material?

- that man would so much rather be left the heck alone and go on his missions than be involved in any unnecessary social contact let alone hook up with random people he has just met. he's been shown to feel awkward in the whole Blue Pegasus scenario, in fact, and spectacularly so.

people really be out there getting mad and wild about this lmfao.

but we love that for Laxus! makes for a softer side that's certainly charming on its own and actually goes along with his character very well.

Unfortunately, I couldn't participate in Fraxus week. but I decided to draw some summer art with them. Too bad my graphics tablet broke while drawing, so I had to finish with my mouse q~q
