Meet Phéline,

At the time this photo was taken she was about 2,5 years old and diagnosed with Leukemia (Blood-cancer). At the moment this lifechanging hug took place she would have no more than a few weeks left to live. In her last few weeks Phéline was invited to attend a very, very special event named “Dreamnight at the Zoo”. This annual event started in 1996 in Rotterdam Zoo “Blijdorp”. The sick and handicapped children attending this exclusive event are usually not capable of going to the zoo or have a fun exciting day out at all! Especially for them the Dreamnight at the Zoo foundation arranges transport and facilities needed to make sure they will have the brightest smile possible. Currently more than 258 zoos and themeparks all over the world take part in this event and they all invite children who need a special day out of their regular hospitalized lives. Last year Me, my girlfriend and two good friends had the honor of attending this event with our fursuits to entertain the kids. The theme for this year was “Butterflies” and therefore we all had butterfly wings on our suits. Phéline always loved butterflies, the bright colors made her happy and as soon as she noticed Pinky and her wings, she fell in love. Pinky instantly became her bestest friend and the hug that followed was heartbreakingly beautiful.  And there I stood, watching :IconFurryFursuitMaker: hugging Phélne… I was nailed to the ground in fursuit… crying. This is the sole reason why I love doing what I do. This is what makes Fursuiting so amazing to me; the chance to brighten someones day who truly, truly needs a smile.

This is why I fursuit. This is the true meaning of Fursuiting!

That day helped Phéline in regaining the will and strength to fight and today, almost a year later she is still alove and kicking! And Pinky is still her bestie that visited her room in between her treatments, came to her birthday party when she turned 3 and went to a dance party with her in the hospital!
