Robbie
“It’s always nice to see both sides of a story. It kind of rids itself of bias, don’t you think?” Robbie asked, folding the cover of his book. Robbie by all means was not a writer, but he has read enough books that he can make an educated critique of writings. “This thing?” Robbie gestured to his book, East of Eden by Steinbeck. “I’ve read this a million times, I think. It’s more an attachment, really.” Robbie mentioned as he always identified with Cal in this novel, a pretty awful person who is really trying to be good. “You’re not bothering me, just so you know. And props to you, not a lot of people are willing to take on comments from a stranger.” He said with a smirk. “I’m Robbie. By the way.” He extended his hand.
Tumblr media
“Totally.” Sienna nodded in agreement. Being able to see the good and the bad in things was useful when it came to writing, although it was something Sienna sometimes struggled with. “Steinbeck, huh? Most people aren’t into reading these days, especially classics.” She, like many people, had become bound to technology, but made sure to set aside the screen for the pages of a book every once in a while. “I’m more of a Wuthering Heights girl. The dark elegance of it gets me every time.” Not to mention most people fantasized about a great love like Catherine and Heathcliff, as controversial as it may have been, and Sienna was no exception. Shrugging, she placed her own hand into his. “When you’re right you’re right, stranger or not. I’m Sienna.”

Hayden
there’s some skepticism on whether or not the woman is in fact speaking to him. hayden peers over shoulder just to make sure. but with nobody else in their general vicinity it became clear quickly. “uhh, sounds like you hit the nail on the head already. sounds boring.”
Tumblr media
"I guess pop culture isn’t for everyone.” Truth be told she didn’t know whether or not to be offended. She had asked for his opinion, sure, but she hadn’t expected him to give it without at least reading the article first. “So if that’s not your thing what is?”

Nathan
Nathan was about an hour through a walk around the creek he loved to hang out when he landed at the local coffee shop and, although he was hot, he decided to get a cup of coffee. He could use the energy, and the rest of his walk would be heading back to his apartment at Oasis, anyway. His eyes swept around the room momentarily, kind of in a daze, when he heard the voice near him and turned his head towards the female. “Oh - uh sure, I’d love to,” he said kindly, breaking himself from his mental fog and setting his cup of coffee down. “I don’t know much about how the local paper should sound but I can tell you if I like it or not.” He shrugged and moved to her table, offering her a smile.
Tumblr media
With the fear of being rejected or rudely refused out of the way her eyes brightened. “That would be great, I mean if you don’t mind.” She said, turning the screen she had been working on toward him so he could get a better view. “I mean it’s nothing, really. It’s not like it’s The New York Times or anything, so I doubt many people will see it, but I figure it should at least be decent if it’s going to have my name on it.” As decent as it could be, anyway. Truth be told this wasn’t ground breaking stuff, and definitely not as meaningful as she would like, but every writer had to start somewhere. “Please, do me a favor and lie to me if it absolutely bores you to death.”

Tyson
“You want me to read that?” Tyson asked, serious apprehension in his voice, a brow raised as he glanced at the laptop screen. “I don’t think I’m the uh, target audience for that so I probably don’t got any useful opinions, honest or not…”
Tumblr media
Her features contorted into a frown, unsure how to respond. She hadn’t expected total rejection, although she supposed it was more than fair considering she had disrupted the other. “Alright, at least answer me this, is it the length that’s off putting or is it the topic?”

Robbie
Robbie put down the book he was reading, leaving the book open to where the spine was creased violently. Most book readers would call him an animal on how he held a book as he read it; rumpling the spine and cover, folding and writing on pages amongst others. He pulled at the laptop slightly to face him as he skimmed through her work. “I really like the points you make on the pros of the use of social media in keeping up to date with latest news and trends but I think you should also write about the dark side of it.” Robbie sat back in his seat. “I’d write something about how the cultural standards we place on the modern woman such as being smart, thin, sexy and fresh looking with glowing skin that is all over social media are unrealistic expectations.” Robbie said before picking up his book once again. “This idea of the perfect female figure on modern women is not only emotionally hurting, but it’s creating a distorted view about self-worth.” He added, flipping over a page and carrying on with his reading.

Lips pursed as she listened to the critique, taking in every word. She wasn’t sure what she had expected, but it wasn’t that. “You’re right.” She nodded, closing the laptop. “It’s a total puff piece.” The best thing to do would be to leave it for a little while and come back to it with a fresh outlook, or at least that’s what she’d concluded after countless hours googling ‘how to get past writers block.’ Sienna’s eyes wandered over the book. She had no qualms about the state he had left it in, in fact she believed the more well-worn a book the more loved it had been in it’s lifetime. The thought had crossed her mind that maybe, one day, a piece she’d wrote would be so appreciated, although it probably wasn’t likely if she was to continue writing small articles for dead-end news papers. “Sorry to disturb you. Looks like you’re really enjoying that book.”

Writers block was a killer. Sienna could write about Asian cuisine or London scenery until her fingers were sore, but she couldn’t seem to write the kind of stuff you could make a career out of. Current events, true crime, fiction, everything else felt foreign to her. It was ironic, really, that anything could feel foreign anymore considering how much time she spent away from home. Nimble fingers hovered over the backspace key, mind scanning the word document over and over for errors missed or incorrect punctuation. Something was missing.
“Hey,” she turned toward the person near her, voice barely above a whisper as she didn’t want to be too much of a bother. “Do you mind looking this over for me? I’m supposed to be writing this article for a local paper back in New York about pop culture and how it’s changed with the rise of social media - boring, I know, but if you could just give me your honest opinion..”

TW: Death
Hi, I’m gloom and this is Sienna! I haven’t been in any groups in quite a while so I’m looking forward to being here and writing with you all. Super open to plots if there’s anything you’re interested in, also open to chemistry, so feel free to reach out or like this and I’ll shoot you a message!
Sienna grew up in New York with her father and her two siblings after losing her mother at eleven years old. As the baby of the family she was always favored, but it was still hard to live in the shadow of her family members, especially without a mother to dote on her.
The only constant in her life has been her family. She looks up to them and strived to be more like them for most of her childhood. Not only did she want to be more like her siblings, but Sienna has always been sort of a perfectionist and wanted to be the best at anything she ever did. She often found herself falling short and it took her years to discover her passion in writing although she’s still not sure if she’s good enough.
The one thing Sienna takes pride in is her travel blog. She’s lived in Silver Lake for three years, while not traveling, and unlike her other projects her blog is something that she does only for herself and not for anyone else. Maybe that’s why she’s so good at it.
Because she’s traveled so much for the duration of her adult life Sienna has become very charismatic. She’s an expert at small talk and short lived company, but has struggled to plant roots or maintain lasting relationships. although not for lack of trying.
Sienna is naive, often looking for the parental affection she didn’t receive in all of the wrong places. Several times she’s almost settled for people who were less than ideal, resulting in heart break and running away from her problems with another plane ticket.
Now that most of her family has settled in Silver Lake she’s thinking it might be time to make her stay more permanent, although that’s never really worked out for her in the past.
