it is past time we jettisoned the useless false dichotomy of introversion vs. extroversion and just accepted that everybody has a minimum amount of social interaction, failing which, they get really weird. and everybody has a maximum amount of social interaction, exceeding which, they get really weird. these levels are different for everyone, for a variety of reasons, and have no moral dimension. and that is all.

The thing is, even if you were lucky and your parents taught you how to clean, they probably didn't teach you how to clean the stuff you clean stuff with, like brushes, mops, sponges, rags, and so on. Or how to clean your cleaning appliances, like a dish washer, clothes washing machine, and clothes dryer and its ducts (if you have a ducted dryer), or a carpet cleaner, vacuum, Or how to clean up clean messes, like spilled bleach or detergent.
My parents threw away all of these things (even the vacuum cleaners and the dryer) when they got too dirty to function, because no one even told them THAT they could be cleaned. Cost them thousands of dollars over the years.
All I'm saying is that cleaning is not intuitive, and not knowing how to clean is not a moral failing, but it is something you can learn.
I'm going to reblog this post with resources for learning how to clean things and how to clean cleaning things (I'm not at my desk at the moment). If you have any favorites, please feel free to add them in too!

How do you make your sketches so clean?
Actually, the answer is pretty simple:
First, I make a quick and pretty ugly sketch — I don’t care about clean lines or even proper construction and proportions at that point, I’m just trying to capture the idea (1). Then I lower the opacity of that layer and draw over it on a new layer, this time thinking more about construction and proportions (2). Sometimes I even add another layer on top (3) to check if the anatomy and pose feel convincing. That second sketch already looks decent, though still a bit messy — so I lower its opacity too and draw a third iteration on a new layer (4). That’s usually the one I post online. At that point, I focus on cleaner lines and pen pressure.
I also use textured brushes with opacity, so I can go over the same line a few times without erasing the earlier versions — they stay underneath and add a bit of depth. I like how that looks. (5). If anyone would like the brushes I use, let me know — I’d be happy to share them, along with a couple of other tools I love ❤️
So I don’t really have an answer to “how to make clean sketches on the first try” :) Maybe with more experience I’ll get there with just two passes — but for now, that’s my process.
Also, just to be fair — even those messy idea sketches don’t always work out right away. For example, when sketching Regent, I went through a bunch of different ideas before settling on the two I liked. I’ve included some of those early attempts as the last image 😅
