The Legend Of Nattramn from Silencer
Mikael Nilsson nicknamed Nattramn (born 1975, Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish musician, known for having participated as a vocalist in the legendary Black Doom band Silencer.
He formed a project in 1994 called Sinneskross, renamed Trencadis in 1995 and recorded a demo called “Ödelagt” in 1996, and delivered in cassette format only to some people. It was relaunched in 2012 by way of Nattramn’s recording company (HAL), limited to 300 hand numbered copies.
Nattramn was vocalist for Silencer, a band that helped consolidate what is nowadays called suicidal depressive black metal or black doom., which is a type of black metal influenced strongly by slow doom metal with lyrics that talk about suicide, misanthropy and madness, and the use of shriek (raspy voice) instead of growls (guttural) like in death / doom.
While recording the album “Death - Pierce Me” (2001) Nattramn self-flagellated himself to produce deeper squeals and give more realism to the songs. He’s known for severing his own fingers off and replacing them with pig’s hoofs. Shortly after recording this, Nattramn was hospitalized, he was held in the “Department 85” of the psychiatric ward.
In May 2001 he wrote a detailed note that said, “I’ll kill girls and be as famous as Thomas Quick”. The police of Växjö reported that such letter was also full of Nazi symbols.
Nattramn escaped the hospital and hit a 6 year old girl with an axe in a park in Ljungby Vattentornsskogen (Småland), then tried to escape on a bicycle. When he was caught, police officers who performed the arrest were asked to kill him by himself, but he was ignored. The girl’s wound ended up being an inch away of touching her brain after penetrating the skull.
Proceeds from this incident Nattramn was admitted to a psychiatric hospital ending the short life of Silencer.
He offered to write and record music for a year as rehabilitation therapy. As a result arises Diagnose: Lebensgefahr which is a cooperation between Nattramn and Växjö Psychiatric Ward and Växjö Health patients.
Proceeds from this project in August 2007 Transformalin disk appears under the label Autopsy Kitchen Records. The album mixes industrial music, drone, ambient (especially dark ambient) and experimental music.
A statement on the website of Diagnose: Lebensgefahr Nattramn announced that he had left the psychiatric hospital and would reside in the city of Växjö. Nattramn wrote a book, which was released in September 2011, is entitled “Grishjärta” or “Pig’s Heart”, was published in Swedish and English.
