How To Choose The Right Solar Charge Controller For Your Home?
Although the solar charge controller is a minor component of the total solar power system, it is critical to its correct operation.
Its proper setup and kind contribution to the system's optimal output and smooth operation. As a result, selecting the appropriate solar charge controller for your home is critical.
Before we do that, let's have a look at how it works and what it does.
What is a solar charge controller?
A solar charge controller, also known as a charge regulator, is a voltage and current regulator that prevents batteries from getting overcharged. The solar charge controller regulates the voltage and current going to the battery from the solar panels. Because most "12 volts" solar panels produce an average of 16 to 20 volts, the batteries will be harmed by overcharging if there is no regulation. Solar batteries on the market require between 14 and 14.5 volts to charge completely.
The function of the solar charge controller
It prevents the battery from overcharging by regulating the voltage.
The solar charge controller monitors the battery voltage. When it detects a low voltage, it enables the whole current flow to enter the battery through panels. When the battery voltage reaches a particular level, the flow of energy is reduced to protect the battery from overcharging.
closes the circuit, and the battery charging from the panels is halted. The charge controller permits complete energy flow into the battery when the voltage of the battery lowers due to decreased sunshine or increased electrical usage. It regulates the charge of the battery in this way.
It prevents the passage of reverse current back to the solar panels.
The solar panels do not produce current at night, thus their potential for the battery is reduced. We're all aware that current flows from greater to lower potential (Battery to the solar panel in this case). Electricity may escape from the battery to the panels, draining the battery. The diode within the solar charge controller, on the other hand, only permits current to travel in one way, from the solar panels to the batteries. It prevents current from flowing backward. As a result, it protects the batteries from being drained by the reverse flow of electricity.
Types of the solar charge controller
The following are examples of solar charge controllers that are widely used in solar power systems:
PWM solar charge controller (Pulse Width Modulation).
MPPT solar charge controller (Maximum Power Point Tracking).
Both the above charge controllers use advanced technology to alter their charging rates based on the battery's current charge level.
The working of the solar charge controller
The PWM solar charge controller adjusts the charge from the solar panels based on the state of the battery and its recharging requirements.
When the battery is nearly drained, the charging rate and pulse width are higher, and when the battery reaches its maximum charging level, the charging rate and pulse width decrease.
It can keep the battery fully charged indefinitely. This prevents the battery from overheating and gassing, resulting in great charging efficiency and long battery life. The voltage specification of the PWM charge controller must match the voltage of the battery when sizing the system.
When the battery is completely charged, the typical solar charge controller, also known as a shunt controller, stops charging it and re-charges it when the battery lowers to a specific level.
Which is the best?
Each technology offers benefits that are dependent on the site location, temperature, and array size about the load, size, and cost of the system.
Let's look at their effectiveness and benefits in a variety of circumstances:
a) Location:
The angle at which the sun's rays hit the solar panels is determined by the location and season. When the sun rays come at a shallow angle, the solar panel absorbs less energy, resulting in lower solar panel output power. The MPPT technology is ideal for gathering the maximum amount of solar energy in this situation.
b) Temperature:
As the temperature lowers, the Vmp of the solar module rises, causing a greater voltage difference between the battery and the panel. Because MPPT charge controllers can track or detect excess voltage and convert the difference into comparable amperage, they are useful. As a result, under lower temperature circumstances, MPPT technology outperforms PWM technology in terms of harvesting power.
c) Increasing the array size to the load:
When the size of the panels is large enough to the amount of electricity consumed by the load, the battery will nearly always be fully charged. In this case, the PWM charge controller is more appropriate and cost-effective than the MPPT charge controller.
d) When the system's size is small:
Because it runs at a consistent harvesting efficiency regardless of the size of the solar system, the PWM controller is better suited to small power solar systems. With a modest solar power system, however, the MPPT charge controller's harvesting efficiency is poor. As a result, for low-power applications, a PWM charge controller is a superior and more cost-effective alternative.
Conclusion
Finally, we discovered that the best solar charge controller (PWM or MPPT) is determined by the location, temperature fluctuations, system size, and budget.
In one area, an MPPT charge controller may work well, but in another, it may not. Similarly, a PWM charge controller may not be appropriate for every system size.
After examining all of the above aspects, you will be able to choose the finest one for your home.

Solar Power Pump
Tumblr media
The Solar Power Pump counts as a revolutionary invention for farmers across the world. More than 500 million small and medium-sized farmers in the world have switched to this solar power pump system. This new water irrigation tool is sustainable, eco-friendly, and reliable in many ways. Since it supports electricity, lower emission and easy maintenance, investing in it is a smart choice. Its invention has proved to be a boon in the areas that are deprived of drinking and daily purpose water. It is mostly utilized in the areas of agriculture for irrigation and sorting procedures.
There are different types of pump machines used for water storage depending on the areas of requirement. However, the most commonly used pump machines are multistage pumps, borehole pumps, helical pumps, and centrifugal pumps. However, among all pump types, solar power pumps are the most popular and easy to deploy. Following the plot size and the type of Solar PV array varies. Usually, for smaller land parts, a solar water pump works better because it can handle required energy during unnecessary wet days.
While talking of the Indian agricultural system, most of the farmers are eventually switching towards solar water pump machines. Not just for irrigation but, they utilize it for drinking purposes. Water pumps in Indian agriculture have given a new direction of hope during the most reverse climate conditions. Unlike other solar-powered tools for household purposes, solar pumps use a different model to work.
Working procedure of solar Power Pump:
Solar power pumps work with the help of direct sun rays. Water pumps are usually known as solar PV (Photovoltaics) Panels. These Solar PV panels are integrated solar cells. When these solar cells come in direct sunlight, it uses the heat to generate energy and creates a magnetic field. It creates a magnetic field then transforms it into electricity to conduct further work. What makes solar pumps special is that you need not keep them charging until using them.
The Solar Water Pump system works on the model of transforming sun rays into electricity and then this electricity pulls water from the ground. Based on their power and water pumping capacity, they are classified into two types, such as Surface Water Pump (Max-50m) and Submersible Water Pump (Max-20m).
Why Using Solar Pumps is better?
There are multiple reasons for which farmers have been waiting for years to eradicate their eternal scarcity of water. The invention of solar pumps has brought a revolution to the world of agriculture. Many reasons prove that solar pumps are the best option against any other traditional sources of irrigation.
Eco-friendly:
Solar Powered pumps are the most eco-friendly devices used in irrigation. Since it does not require any non-renewable fuel sources to generate electricity, it does not emit polluted air to burn. Direct sunlight gets easily absorbed by the solar cells. Not only does it use the sun-light to emit electricity, but also it stores the energy for further usage. Solar pumps do not emit any harmful substance to regulate the pumping machines while pulling water from the underground.
Low-cost operating system:
It is one of the most popular reasons that attracted people to install solar pumps. It's self solar charging technology requires no electricity or any fuel to operate. Therefore, it is a tension-free device to handle the work. What you need to do is, just plug in the devices in a sequential manner and power up to your work.
Easy maintenance:
The digital world has brought digital solutions for everything. The design of the solar PV pump is so dynamic that it hardly needs repairing. After the installation of the machine in the field, you need not think about repairing or changing for years. Unlike other traditional water pump technology, this machine integrates lesser parts and wires to remove the baggage of weight and force. Therefore, it becomes easy to maintain it for a long.
Financial Surplus:
The energy that solar water pumps store can be used for selling to the people for financial growth. It can be counted as an alternative source of income. The farmers are getting excellent financial support from the Indian government and subsidies for solar pumps. This is an affordable source to boost agriculture.
Water Absorbing:
It does not matter that wherever the machine is fitted in the land, the water will be easily pulled with a magnetic effect and irrigate acres of land. This new technology is absent in the traditional water pumps and they demand extra pumping machines to absorb water from the underground.
Remote Handling:
People can easily install the pumping machines at their homes with a self-installation and handle it through remote processing. The working procedure will be smooth as ever and there will be no problem with the maintenance. It is one of the strongest reasons why people opt for a solar water pump in their homes.
Why should you choose Silan?
You must be thinking about the many expected benefits of solar water pumps, so why wait to install one? Silan solar company offers some of the best solar water pumps for further usage. Due to its rapid innovation, price reduction, and low-cost maintenance will speed up solar street lights’ access. There is no heavy process for installing solar lights, which means it requires less equipment and minimal labour.
Solar street lights offer some benefits to the users. Solar light works at night and charges in the daytime that made it automatic functioning light. Since it is self-sustainable, it does not depend on electricity. The benefits it offers are:
●     It controls pollution and saves energy.
●     It provides an accessible installation facility.
●     It is a cost-efficient source of light.
●     Low-cost maintenance.
●     Independent functioning.
●     Rechargeable batteries.
What’s in Your Solar Street Light?
Here is an overview of what components are used in the solar light system. Not all manufacturers used similar components of solar lighting systems. The essential elements of solar street light are:
●     Solar Panel:
The first thing we require for the solar street lights - solar panels are a significant part of it. The primary function of the solar panel is to generate solar energy into electricity. It is not simple work to stick a solar panel on a pole for which it needs brackets and mounting apparatuses. A simple solar panel is comprised of solar cells and a glass framework. To attach the panel with the pole, mounting solar brackets must be installed properly.
●     Solar Light Fixtures:
Light Fixtures are the essential component of the solar light system. The light fixtures provide the required light on the street for clear visibility. In the latest solar street lights, LEDs are being utilized. LED provides higher luminosity with minimal energy consumption. The LED fixtures consume energy 50% less than that of the traditional street light fixture.
●     Rechargeable Batteries:
The rechargeable batteries are connected to the solar panels, store the electricity from the solar in the daytime, and provide power. The battery must be assembled inside a vented aluminium battery box and located under the solar for additional shade. By doing so, it provides easy access to maintenance requirements. The battery life cycle is essential to the lifetime of the light, and the battery’s capacity will affect the backup days of the lights.
●     Pole:
Strong poles are required for all street lights because those carry heavy components on the top. The pole is the final component of the installation process of solar street lights. The pole needs to be strong to support the whole solar light system and must be tall enough to provide light on a large area. In the modern design, the pole is already mounted with PV panels and electronic elements.
●     MPPT Controller:
A MPPT controller is a part that plays a vital role in the automatic functioning of the solar street light. Human involvement is replaced with the controller in these modern street lights compared to the traditional street lights. The controller decides when to switch on/ off the charging and lighting.
Uses of Solar Street Light
Establishing solar street lights is a better investment compared to traditional street lights. These are easy to install, that you can easily access solar lights anywhere you want with the availability of sunlight.
●     Highways.
●     Streets.
●     Gardens and parks.
●     Residential areas.
●     Agricultural places.
●     Pedestrians.
