I will always bang my head against a table (totally normal reaction, of course) when Adrien gives Luka THAT LOOK™ when everyone is saying goodbye to Luka because he knows LB and CN's identities, like, I will scream, and jump, because holy fuck. See also Lukadrien during Wishmaker.

And yeah, it would be so Adrien to brush it off under the argument of "surely we ALL have a crush on Luka or had it at some point, am I right?"

If you are thinking that Roger and the rest of the police forces are legitimate for showing up and wanting to put back Raúl in jail after he gets de-akumatized, you are no better than the cops themselves here and clearly misunderstand the point the writers were making through Ladybug, Chat Noir and Minotaurox.

We have seen hundred of akumatizations in the show. How many exactly have we seen where the cops showed up to arrest the akumatized victim before? None. Only Raúl gets that treatment.

Why? Because of Raúl's background as a criminal.

The question you have to ask yourself now is : is it really fair?

In the episode, the facts are that Raúl didn't break out of jail. He is going through a program that helps re-insert people who have been convicted back into society.

And while yes, Raúl did plan to steal the Mona Lisa, ultimately, he didn't go through with it because Ivan aborted the plan before it even began.

Minotaurox : Have you done something reprehensible, sir? Like... Stealing something? Raúl : I admit that I thought about it. Minotaurox : But you don't want to be a supervillain anymore, right? You just want to be a good father? Raúl : That's exactly what I promised my son.

And Raúl takes Ivan's letter that Minotaurox is handing him.

And here's the real deal breaker : thinking of doing something or even planning something illegal isn't criminally reprehensible. It's when you act on said plan that it becomes officially criminally reprehensible.

For example, thinking of building a bomb and looking for the parts to build it is not the same thing as assembling an actual functional bomb or making it explode.

And if you look at it, Ivan prevented his father from going through with his plan. Because Ivan - who was a critical agent for the plan to work - opted out. The plan was aborted. To keep it with the example, the bomb wasn't functional and therefore there wasn't a bomb. Just a patent.

We can scold Raúl for thinking of it of course. But there is nothing concrete for the police to charge and arrest him either. If anything, it is blown out of proportion.

What the writers are illustrating with the interaction between the cops, Raúl and the superheroes is that the police can have bias against people who have served their time or are going through a re-integration program. And because of that bias, they are harsher or will find any excuse to bring that person back in jail. That happens in real life.

Which when you look at the facts is not fair to the person nor their family.

That is the point that LB and CN are making. This time, Raúl wasn't a supervillain, but an akumatized. We got over a hundred of people who acted impulsively and consented to be akumatized. None were arrested for it. And Raúl is no exception there.

That doesn't mean that Raúl is out of any reproach. Both Ladybug and Minotaurox reminded him to think twice before wasting his New Chance. The sole Raúl has to take a new leaf.

And please note that Ladybug didn't handed out any Miracle Charm to Raúl. This is the first time this happen since she has unlocked that power. Ivan's letter acted as the Miraculous Charm in this episode. And it has no magical proprieties. It is only words written on a piece of paper.

Now, it is up to Raúl if he will really keep his own word to his son.

miraculous is such a funny show because every character has normal teenage cartoon character problems, meanwhile Adrien is consistently having the Worst day of his Life every episode
